I thought Canada was more accepting than the US. I live in Seattle. We have a large gay community and this almost never happens here. It's certainly not a shared feeling among they gay community that people just have to deal with it.

I've actually defended gay bashing before the argument being that animals are instinctually intolerant towards any deviance from normal group behavior, I said it a little less formally. But I feel bad, I think humans unlike other animals can practice self restraint and try and respect differences amongst themselves as long as it doesn't threaten their physical well being. I live in an educated area where people don't discriminate based on religion, race, gender or sexual preference. yes black crime rates have been higher in decades but thats attributed to their lower social position i.e. poor education and less income = more likely to commit crime
this is different from hate crimes which are likened to the difference between first and second degree murders. hate crimes are preconceived much like first degree murder is which makes it a distinctive.

I know its someone's right to be gay but, gays have habbit of not keeping it to themselves, they want the whole world to know like its ok.
