A 100% good show....mainly for the presence of....Barbara Eden!!!!!!!!! However, it's a shame that "I Dream of Jeannie" never ranked in the top 20 programs, for not one of the five seasons that aired, between 1965 and 1970. Also in my opinion, "I Dream of Jeannie" is way better than that idiotic show "Bewitched", and Elizabeth Montgomery, can't hold a candle to Barbara Eden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on "I DREAM OF JEANNIE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I Dream of Jeannie... brought to you by..." and it was usually some cigarette company or some laundry detergent company that bought up half the commercials.
Yes, and I'm led to believe DFE was not mentioned in the closing credits because at the time, Screen Gems felt it didn't want to anger the Hanna-Barbera people by promoting DFE.
jnow just think.this was a popular TV series and years later Will Smith and his D.J. would turn this soundtrack into Girls Aint Nothin But Trouble and Make Millions off of it.
When I rewatched this at 14 I. Couldn't get enough of that magnificent theme, and I played the theme more than once, and hummed the tune. I loved this show since I was 10.
I love both Barbara Eden and Audrey Hepburn, and I also love Julie Andrews. They did lots of magnificent movies and shows in the 60s, and Elizabeth Montgomery too.
"Girls of the world ain't nothing but trouble"!! lol For you youngsters don't know about that old school Fresh Prince and DJ jazzy Jeff. Thanks for sharing this .
I had a fantastic dream while listening to loud music at a local tavern, that a Genie desired to follow a familiar source of companionship. As the Genie traveled through the air to the highway it was though I could see from the many drivers point of view, however as the Genie's familiar source traveled along the road it was though the alternater speed there essence miles down the road. If I ever really had a Genie which was beautiful I would take better care of them, as a promise.
que epocas ....adoraba esta serie! no me perdia ni un capitulo , recuerdo que a todos les decia quiero ser astronauta para encontrar mi bella genio! jajajaa
For those of you who don't know about who did the animated sequence, it is not by Hanna-Barbera but rather by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, the company behind United Artists' Pink Panther and the 1964-67 period of Warner Bros.' shorts mainly starring Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales.
He tried to hide it as best he could. He was scared that if she knew she would take off. So he used the getting kicked out of NASA excuse as a ploy tp keep her under his Spell.
She was as Slick as a College Professor. She knew how to have a Fun Time and turn her Master into her Pawn. He knew it and couldn't bear to be without her. He would leave NASA before letting her go.
Dr. Alfred Bellows was the Lynchpin and Chaperone of the show.
Now if they make a movie however of I dream of Jeannie and have either Kristin Chenoweth or Uma Thurman play Jeannie i would definitely go and see it. I think Kristin and Uma would make a great Jeannie in a movie
@TheAllcroft Uma?! she doesnt look, sound or act anything like Jeannie. Kristin maybe although her voice is wrong... Christina Applegate would be my choice.
Are you guys for real? The lovely and beautiful Barbara Eden, in my eyes , was the one and only actress I coudl ever imagine playing Jeannie. She brought beauty, sexiness, and fantasy as well as innocence, charm and class to the role, for which she is still known and loved for!!
I also think that Natalie Wood, Samantha Eggar, Judy Carne, Goldie Hawn & Sarah Miles would have also made a better Jeannie than that deadbeat Barbara Eden.
@TheAllcroft ...Barbara Eden was perfect. I dont think she couldve been anything else, because she was always either in TV mini-series, or failed TV shows, like Harper Valley, P.T.A. ... she last appeared on a panel show on Hannity
@TheAllcroft Wood, Eggar and Miles were all far too famous to do a TV show at that time. Better actresses, maybe, but way too famous for a lowly TV show. Goldie Hawn was too young to have played the role at that time; she was only 21 or 22 when "Laugh-In" premiered in 1968. "Jeannie" went on in 1965, I believe.
@invincibleironman3 Are you kidding, Audrey Hepburn does not look like a stick. Though i see why you said she does not have feline eyes, but think she does.
@invincibleironman3 are you on crack? it's physically impossible for a human to look like anything other than... a human. also, curves= where the surface goes in and out, NOT fat rolls or big tits. Audrey was also pear shaped with a tiny waist so there you go. and sorry, but your size does not affect your shape... not sure why people tell themselves it does. a 2 by 2 box is still box shaped.
and having "curves" to play an airheaded genie is kind of unimportant anyway.
@LiloPelakai ... yeah, Hepburn did work with Unicef and lots of important causes, as well. Both Eden and Hepburn had the feline eyes, though. If you put Hepburn and Eden side by side (well, back then) you could obviously see the difference. Eden had a lot of troubles with her personal life, and Hepburn was a huge star - its not even fair to compare the two. Another interesting pick for "Jeannie" would've been Shirley MacLaine (she did a bit of physical comedy, and she sang),
@TheAllcroft Perhaps, but Audrey Hepburn was a serious actress, a real movie star. She would NEVER have stooped to doing anything so silly and trivial as "I Dream Of Jeannie".
@trwent Trivial? I'm not denying that Hepburn has probably done some great work during her day, but I haven't seen a single one of her movies whereas I've seen hours and hours of Barbara Eden as Jeannie
@GliTCH11 I've seen hours of Audrey's movies and maybe 5 hours total of Babs' show. So by your terrible logic, I guess that makes Audrey much better an actor. Because one person saw her work more.
@TheAllcroft I would LOVE to have seen her do that! she can act much better, has exotic beauty, a mystical air to her, plus her tiny waist and hot body would look good in a genie costume.
Wasn't Larry hagman also JR from Dallas?

I want to get this all straightened out. Please let me know if I get the titles/songs correct:
Season 2 = season 2 opening title/music
Seasons 3-5 = season 3 opening title/music (different music arrangement for closing title is used for seasons 4-5)
