I always hear that keeping a big fish is actually good because when a fish grows it starts eating smaller fish, I've kept a few big trout from my pond and I've noticed a rise in the population of trout and all other fish, etc.
yeah but the big fish help make sure there are more little fish by multiplying and I figure something thats been around that long deserves the respect to live on
I've bowfished for years now and I'm pretty sure that I have never seen the actual bow in a fishs head, I've seen thousands of fish that we've shot with an arrow but not the whole bow lol, bottom line is... Your a jackass
what you have to remeber is that most of the people saying "oh he should put it back" are people from countries where fishing is a sport, rather than a task of survival.
so yeah, i can understand them saying that (comeing from the uk, and being a fisher myself)
but on the other hand, if they needed food, and they caught that monster, then yes, i could understood if they ate it.
youve just got to take these things into context, and look at the individual situations.
As for the not taking it home...if you don't need it, thats fine, please return it so someone that does need it can eat it, but for everyone on here that applauding him for returning it, as if they all should do so, you should really stop it...fish are meant to be eaten, and when there's no food available, ie poorer countries, these bigger fish feed more people, and it can be shared. Thats why big fish are a big deal...
i hate people who take fish home and kill them or something....and i hate people who bow fish now thats just sad! i mean how would you like it if some one just came up to you while you were walking down the street and then stuck a fucking bow through your head!...case closed...
How would you like to be hooked by the lip tugged around pulled out of your environment by said hook in mouth having the hook ripped out and thrown back? lol Whats the point in doing such shit to begin with?
Far from it the point is why ... Why do all that just to let it go if you're going to catch a damned fish you should be doing it for the sole purpose of getting fresh food. I do not see how catching a fish could be fun but also catching just to throw it back in kind of pointless unless maybe you want some challenge trying to catch them by hand haha but as said I think catch and release is pointless.
It is known as the "Giant Barb" in Australia, and considered to be a noxious species in every state. The same laws apply as to other species of "carp". Piranhas, tigerfish and electric eels are similarly considered pests.
I know the Japanese do eat carp. But one of my Japanese friend told me the meat is really soft and tasteless. It must be cook ASA death occurs. "I would much rather eat tilapia instead." Accourding to her.
I don't think I will be eating carp any time soon. I know their meat is really soft according to one of my friends. That is probably why they just leave them be. Soft fish meat and bony, will not be in my order menu! Thanks! =0)
Ponds and lakes need carp to help clean the bottom of the water. That's what catfish do also. We need them to balance the health of the water. For one good reason the eat away dead fishes and waste. They are good to have. That one on the video is a big one and a beauty. Thanks for sharing!
For those of you who keep saying "good catch, glad you put it back", you're all idiots. Carp is one of the most common species that are ruining our lakes and damns and they consume so much of the natural food supplies for other fish. You're a fool if you caught a carp and put it back. Native Australian catch these carps and let it die on the shore...they are pest to the natural waterways and lakes. Keep in mind next time you catch one.
I agree with you for the most part, but you have to realize that here, they're not an invasive species, they're actually supposed to be there. But yes you shouldnt put them back if they are in waters where they dont belong
you are a wanker if you let a carp die!yust do the fish back in the water and leave itt!i really hope you die in a car accident if you caught a carp and let it die on the shore.dumb shit
big fish!!! nice to see good care towards it and the most important and best thing was letting it go again i like this good job on catching a big one.
kk.. but did u know the invasion of asain carps is on a peak right now.. no not the grass carp the silver head and fat head carp are a huge threat in the miss and ill river
Research a little better Siamese Carp will not be found in Australia. Only Grass Carp, Common Carp, and Big Head Grass Carp will be found in Australia.
It's basically identical to the Common Carp and I dare say the Siamese Carp would have the same affect on the native fish here as the Common carp does.

surfdude102 2 years ago
We use them as fertilizer in Australia; they don't grow that big due to overcrowding.
Catching a carp and putting it back is illegal, as it is considered an introduced pest species.
