I love this, but if you've read the comics, then you know that Billy started to become evil at age eight. But other than that fact, it's perfect! You should try to make your own version of a sequel!
Great job guys, although just one nitpick I have is I'm not sure about the ending. I mean, what happened to Katy just seemed the sort of thing that would make Billy go completely evil immediately, rather than just crazed-yet-harmless. I mean, from a certain point of view what happened to her was even worse than Penny. The sweet and caring girl he knew is gone forever, and this bitch is walking around with her face. That's the kind of the thing to crop up in the Joker's origin!
I wish he had said horrible. So many things to say, but that seems like the only thing worth saying at this time. It was perfectly set up and then... credits NOOOO!
Amazing job, I really like "She talked to me" as well, I have it in my head all the time now!
Spectacular work - very much in the style, spirit, and characterization of the original, and a plausible origin story. I wouldn't want the "love potion" explanation of Captain Hammer's popularity to be canon, since that would detract somewhat from the original's message about blind worship of hero figures, but it's a fun story in its own right. I hope you guys keep producing more great stuff in the future.
This movie was horrible. For one thing, the actors were all terrible, or at least, they weren't trying very hard. The music was repetitive, and dragged in several places, but at least all of the actors sang on key. It was full of lines ripped from the original, I suppose in an attempt to cloud our vision with memories of a better movie. They turned Billy into a gary stu, who only turns into Dr Horrible when the plot device backfires.
Does he blame himself for what happened? Does he try to rebuild his lab to fix it? No, he blames society for being just as susceptible to the love potion as he'd originally planned, and sets his sights on world domination.
The original Dr. Horrible had complex characters, fantastic acting, better plot, better music, better lighting, better special effects, and it probably costed less too. (Seriously, did I see "talent coach" on those credits? What was he doing?)
This movie is exactly the opposite of everything the original Dr. Horrible represented. The original movie showed us that, with talent, and enthusiasm, a great film can be made on an incredibly tight budget. Your movie shows us that, with enough money, you too can take a dump on a work of art.
Seriously, though, German dialect coach? Did it not occur to you, that if Hammer botched his fake accent, it would be perfectly in character?
Dude, the only thing this movie has going for it, in my book, is the fact that they make it clear that the original writers and cast had no part in this.
So Dr. Horrible wasn't evil... he was just the only one against Captain Hammer's rein.
Interesting. There are inconsistencies, and it's not quite the same as the original by any means, but I like the thoughts. Interesting to hear a new perception.
Also, loved the evil girls in this one. Make-up was good.
I have watched this about three times, because I am a nerd. And I have to say it's awesome. Very clever, cute, and fun; a nice homage to the original. Hammer is my favorite part, because the actor was perfect.
I do have a couple of questions: Billy seems, well, a lot more self-aware/less nervous and...twitchy. I'm not saying the character change couldn't happen between then and now, I'm just curious to know how y'all interpret it.
Also, please tell me Johnny was based off of Patrick Warburton.
This was a really awesome prequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog! I loved all the awesome references to one by Whedon ('I'll make the people my marionette.' The song Everybody's a Winner) Captain Hammer was spot-on. I loved the guy (what's his name, I don't want to call him 'the guy') who played both Billy and Wade and 'Kenny.' (snickers at name xD)
I totally thought that the potion would have different results than Billy thought it would, and that since he, moist, hammer, and snow - I thought snow would drink some too - all drank some, they would get different powers.
It was so good, though. Keep writing musicals, you guys. As a musical theatre major, innovative projects like these maintain my hope in the future of the form!
The genius of this production is ineffable. I have watched this so many times--almost as many as the original. I love the backstory you've given, and it really does make a lot of sense. I absolutely love the attention to detail. I was squealing through most of this :) Thank you so much for this brilliant film. I can't stop singing the music.
Excellent line. That and "The ladies call me often" are my two favorite lines of the whole thing.
Since I've watched it, I think you guys did Doctor Horrible well, though the only performance I was genuinely impressed with was Captain Hammer's. He was truly fantastic, and the writers captured his character perfectly.
Actually, I was personally more impressed at their capture of Billy. It seems exactly what he would be like before the beginning of his change which was completed in Dr. Horrible. He always had a good intention at the end of everything. In this, he was attempting to solve everything in a way where he still trusted humanity. Here he learned that such a method was impossible, so he turned to trying to rule the world and lead it to anarchy. This Billy is much like Dr. Horrible in the pas
Especially when he puts the labcoat and gloves on and it's shot in the same way as whenDr. Horrible puts on the ELE red outfit at the end of the Sing-Along Blog :)
You guys nearly made me cry with that snowglobe.
Also- I want a ringtone of that.

Did anyone notice that the hammer in Billy's garage is placed above his goggles? Is it symbolism, or am I reading too much into it?

And P.S., I forgot to mention that the singing and acting is top notch. The writing is great as well, as is the music. Especially this last song.
So... yeah. I'm kind of a fangirl of this. In case you didn't realize. :D
