Actually no. They can give you a ticket for visually saying you was doing about 55mph, which is WAY cheaper then the radar ticket. You have to qualify to even carry radar. They make you guess at how fast cars are going and you have to be within 3 mph of what they doing. So no they don't need their equipment.

Granted, it's easier in court to say "the limit was 30 and he was doing 34 by my radar gun" than it is to make the same assessment by eye, but if you speed at 50 past a radar gun and the gun doesn't register your speed, you can still be picked up for obviously doing over the limit.

a cop waiting at the bottom of a hill is nothing more than a Speed Trap. They as we all know that you have to give the car gas to get up the hill, but as you get over the top youll have more momentum hince a faster speed coming down. Ive gotten two tickets like that. But i got one of them cleared cuz the sob of a cop tried to write the time down as 730pm, when it was actually 730 am. he thought he could write it as if he did the stop on his over time. long story short, i busted his ass.

At anytime I can walk outside and see drug deals being made, just off my front porch. Im sure someone with some electronic experience can make a device that doesnt jam but instead sends out a return signal that says you are JUST under the marked speed limit. It could have different settings on if for different speed zones.....

@roofy2k In the US, only a few states have outlawed laser jammers. They can stop you knowing full well that you jammed them, but can't write you a speeding ticket without proof you were speeding.
The problem is that speed detection device is not on all the time. If the LEO suspects you are speeding, he or she will point the device at you and turn it on. If the LEO thinks are you jamming it because your speed is not registering that is a major red flag. The LEO might go after you. Becareful!

@roofy2k Not always true if the driver is good. Wire a kill switch in series with the laser jammer's power source. As soon as you get an alert you slow down to speed and kill the jammers. The cop then gets a reading of an appropriate speed. Since it's highly directional as you said, cops have to aim pretty accurately to get a reading. Since they usually aren't perfect, cops will see this 3 second delay to get your speed reading as normal.

The objective is to slow down to an appropriate speed and turn the device if able and that will give the officer a speed reading instantly. The officer will then go on to another vehicle and get their speed. Turning it off will also prevent laser jammers from being illegalized.

The Federal law mandating the 85th percentile rule, is flagrantly violated by state after state and municipality after municipality. See those speed signs that flash your speed to scare you, or have a cop hiding near them to scare you, or are placed near curves, stop signs and lighted intersections...all to have artificially low speeds so they can claim to obey the Federal law.
Too bad police officers now use LIDAR... a smarter version of laser guns that are for the most part immune to radar detectors (*Radar detectors* not laser)..and can't be jammed because the computer in it only takes back signals send out from the device.
Jammers are a waste of time. I just don't stop when they try to pull me over. I usually keep a couple of cabbage patch dolls in car seats. When the cop gets behind me, I strategically deploy them like a fighter plane to heat seeking rockets!

Im sure someone with some electronic experience can make a device that doesnt jam but instead sends out a return signal that says you are JUST under the marked speed limit. It could have different settings on if for different speed zones.....

@imacheekydevil How? That isn't really possible with what I know about laser speed guns.
Radar speed guns consist of a radio transmitter and receiver. They send out a radio signal, then receive the same signal back as it bounces off the target object. However, due to the Doppler effect, if the object is moving, the frequency of the radio waves is different when they come back, and from that difference the radar speed gun can calculate the object's speed.

I'm sitting shot gun with my 73 year old dad at the wheel. Were coming down a pretty steep hill, the road curves at the bottom of the hill and there sits a cop working radar on the opposite side of the street (chicken shit) He pulls us over and as he's walking up to the car he says "hey there old timer, I got you doing 43 in 35mph zone" my dad doesn't skip a beat "lets not pretend you're anything more than a glorifed metermaid junior, wipe that smile off your face and write the fucking ticket."

My brother's speeches sucked, so I tell the cop story and the time a grocery store cashier, bitchy because she's swamped bends down to get a bag and catches him looking down her top. She snaps and yells "Did you get a good look at my breasts pervert?" dead quiet, all eyes on him "Lady, buy a bra, bent over like that I couln't tell if those were nipples or kneecaps." It took a sec for the laughter to erupt

@stevenp25100 It was a speed trap and it was chicken shit. I didn't have room to convey the way the cop acted as he approached the car. Let's just say the big ol' smile and the condescending tone of his voice were aimed at the wrong guy. As a young person if you feel the need to call someone an "old-timer" make sure he's not a former member of the 1st Marine Division, holder of a Purple Heart (at Inchon) and a Silver Star (at Chosin) and who at 73 could still do 50 push-ups in 60 seconds flat.

This was the first and only time I ever saw him belittle anyone and the guy had it coming, (guess you had to be there) I'm 1 for 94 on this story, that says something about you. @roofy2k In the US, only a few states have outlawed laser jammers. They can stop you knowing full well that you jammed them, but can't write you a speeding ticket without proof you were speeding.

The problem is that speed detection device is not on all the time. If the LEO suspects you are speeding, he or she will point the device at you and turn it on. If the LEO thinks are you jamming it because your speed is not registering that is a major red flag. The LEO might go after you. Becareful!

@roofy2k Also, most people either buy shitty jammers, or they mount them incorrectly, so most cops believe laser jammers do not work. (This is all beside the fact that they are legal in most states, they just give you more shit for it if they know you have them)

@roofy2k Not always true if the driver is good. Wire a kill switch in series with the laser jammer's power source. As soon as you get an alert you slow down to speed and kill the jammers. The cop then gets a reading of an appropriate speed. Since it's highly directional as you said, cops have to aim pretty accurately to get a reading. Since they usually aren't perfect, cops will see this 3 second delay to get your speed reading as normal.

The objective is to slow down to an appropriate speed and turn the device if able and that will give the officer a speed reading instantly. The officer will then go on to another vehicle and get their speed. Turning it off will also prevent laser jammers from being illegalized.

The Federal law mandating the 85th percentile rule, is flagrantly violated by state after state and municipality after municipality. See those speed signs that flash your speed to scare you, or have a cop hiding near them to scare you, or are placed near curves, stop signs and lighted intersections...all to have artificially low speeds so they can claim to obey the Federal law.

Too bad police officers now use LIDAR... a smarter version of laser guns that are for the most part immune to radar detectors (*Radar detectors* not laser)..and can't be jammed because the computer in it only takes back signals send out from the device.

i've got the rocky mtn radar jammer and it works great. i've been pulled over with it 1 time but not for speeding and the cop didnt say shit about it. it jams and detects k ka x and lasar band. where im at 98% of the time its always ka band. i had 1 cop wave at me b/c i think he knew something was up and a few who kinda glared at me haha oh well glare all you want fat pig son of worthless bitches. it dont matter if they are hiding somewhere or unmarked they always sniff the pig out
