Thats nothing, my friend swapped out his LS3 for a LS7 and got it twinturboed/ lowered/wider wheels 285 up front and 315 out back making well over 900rwhp. This was back in early 2010 when he did it. ITS A UNTAMED BEAST!!!!

@LateNightCable coming from the guy watching videos on the internet. regardless, i was thinking of turbocharging when it comes to increasing efficiency. a turbocharged 2010 camaro will get much better gas mileage than an all motor 2010 camaro making the same power. turbocharging/supercharging is going to be used far more often on newer cars - get over it
Awesome, I can't understand why people put more twin screws than good size turbos like this, that torque number is outstanding. Turbos are the future. FTW

@ynb3a9y4life Actually, my dealership has 3 zr560's, with supercharger rated @839RWHP 890RWTQ, and the 2 NA's @713 RWHP 720RWTQ. ZR 560 S/C is like $140,000 and the 2 560's are $125,000. Comes with a silenced exhaust.
@ynb3a9y4life of course thats agt500 killer its not made by chevy. cameros are like yachts. nice to look at but in the end its just a really heavy boat.
@Marshmallowrex Youll spend the money in total to buy one of these cars just to make a civic go as fast.. Which youll blow your motor in a few months.. Larger motors always makes a faster car. Which is why you dont see Rice drivers winning much at a stoplight. Its ok.. Btw jealousy is a stinky cologne and your post reeks of it.
@Marshmallowrex Dude....aluminum v8's weigh around 450 lbs, while the engine in say, a supra, for example, weighs over 500 lbs. The v8 can put down more power and MUCH more torque than anything else, and on a much less stressful tune, that is the meaning of efficiency, incase you wanted to learn something displacement is just a hole it doesn't weigh anything.
@DeAdiSSu3 I don't understand why people don't understand that. Its just a big combustion chamber... engine itself is relatively small. Yet, the meaning of efficiency can vary.
@Texarmageddon True, it can vary. Some people talk of efficiency in terms of horsepower per liter, I speak of it in terms of how much the engine weighs and how much pulling power it has at said weight, and the fact that those numbers will be on a less-stressful tune than an engine with smaller displacement. ;)
@Marshmallowrex Well first and foremost, I prefer Ford and Mopar myself, even though I grew up working on GM's with my father. For two, any American v8-powered car is much cooler and much more desireable than a gay-ass civic no matter which is faster.
@Chrisjaldin Yeah that's what I thought, I heard the zl1's are supercharged in stock form. Either this is modded or a whole bunch of people were wrong lol
ive hated american cars for quite a while... theyve been cheap pieces of shit for quite somet ime now... sure the interior of this thing stays with the tradition but i still want this car... first time ive said this about an american car for a long time.
Lol, vtech is just an excuse for a poor getto bitch's car, if u had to put a vtech in any car that means its shitty and needs help, p.s. Hondas r for poor girls
@fastlaneinc jw, but why did yall go with a turbo set-up? Is it a twin turbo? Don't get me wrong, turbos are great for when some punk rides up on you on the highway and you want to make him look a fool, but I vastly prefer s/cs, and with a car like this, I'd say a s/c would be the way to go. But hey, it's still a kick ass car
@daBlade80 .... do you know how they work? they both have pro's n con's s/c's need power to produce power. turbo uses spent power but has lag, blowers are usually instant, most loose top end! im figuring its easier to make a twin turbo because of the headers!
@vwgti4 yes, I know how they work, but in my opinion, a quick car is a fast car. I really don't care how much over 100 mph they can do, but I would prob get from 0 to something quick as shit rather than be able to get from 40 or 60 to whatever faster. And I've never seen under the hood of one of these camaros, so idk about how much room they'd have for the twin turbo set-up, but that would be cool and all, but I would rather have a s/c
@THizzle80 well you can put a smaller turbo and have low end power and lose top end for a drag race or circuit with many turns...it all depends on the set-up... the reason i thought they were dual turbos is because of the headers on both sides of the block, plumbing for a single just looks harder, unless its a muffler turbo! (supras,300zx,skyline's, come with twin and get converted to single but they are in line 6, header 1 side) I mean no disrespect just friendly chat! thank you!
@vwgti4 dont really understand this post. He said it was a single turbo set-up in his reply to my comment. A twin turbo set-up would be cool as shit, but we're dealing with a v-8 here, you could throw a MAAAAASSSIVE single turbo on it, and it would be kick ass and much simpler than a twin turbo set-up if there's not much room beside the engine
@daBlade80 well first of all i mean no disrespect in anyway, and i didnt see the reply for single turbo... i just figured because of the plumbing - headers on each side of the block and easier plumbing would be twin turbo... dont get me wrong single turbos are usually better than dual's but on skylines, supras etc they are originally twin and get converted to single but they are in line six therefore the plumbing is easier! I was just putting my 2 cents in, and you can go with smaller....
@turbo200sx007 who does such a thing? I can't ever recall hearing of anyone taking a s/c car and switching to a turbo, except for the Cobalt SS, and that's just b/c that was a 4 cylinder. In a big ole v8 the only way to go is s/c or a twin turbo kit, a single turbo kit like this would be great for putting down pure hp numbers, but less so for driving in the street
@daBlade80 turbochargers are the most efficient power adder around. They don't need to be turned by the crankshaft so there is no drain, and they don't suffer from heat soaking like a supercharger does. Also because they spin freely, they turn upwards of 100,000 rpm with a cooler air charge temp, thus creating a denser charge and making more power at any given boost pressure. Yes u have some lag time, but if setup correctly, its minimal. imo, s/c work best on small motors with a lack of torque
@mtooshort20 Negative, superchargers work best on large engines because you won't notice the parasitic effect. If you put a positive-displacement supercharger on a 4-banger, it might not even have enough power to turn over. A turbo on a 4-banger, however, means no parasitic effect on the crank, although there are exhaust gas backpressure issues with turbos so they aren't completely free of inefficiency. Also turbos get so hot that when you turn the engine off, oil can be baked into the bearings.
@DeAdiSSu3 if u size the turbo correctly in correlation to the engine, back pressure is negligible.
Superchargers suffer from heat soaking and make it a lot harder to cool the intake air charge. in comparison, Supercharger intake air temps can reach well over 400 degrees and even with a water cooled one like kenny bell, temps rarely get lower than 200degrees. whereas, turbos, air temps start at around 250 degrees and can be lowered to below ambient...much safer for engines and denser for power
@DeAdiSSu3 this is true, but i'm using the term in a performance aspect in which the supercharger housing gets significantly hotter due to it being mounted directly on the engine and thus making the intake charge much hotter, resulting in the computer retarding timing and taking fuel away in an attempt to prevent detonation. That may not be the correct term for it, buts its used vastly with this definition in the performance world. Anyways, that's what i meant lol.
@mtooshort20 You do realise that not all superchargers are mounted on the intake manifold, right? I had always liked the efficiency in which a twin-screw supercharger compresses air, instead of the lobes inside a roots blower....now though, i'm starting to really like the idea of centrifugal superchargers....you might not get the immediate torque of a positive displacement supercharger, but a centri will be easier on the engine helping it last longer, while keeping your boost at ambient temps...
@DeAdiSSu3 yes i do realize their are centrifugal superchargers but i was speaking in terms of roots style blowers. i like centrifugals as well, they are in a sense, belt driven turbos and run much cooler. Their only real drawback is the fact that they cant spin nearly as fast as a turbo due to being belt driven, so they are limited in the amount of boost they can produce. But i do like them as well as turbos. Turbos just seem to have a higher potential than s/c, is basically all im sayin.
@mtooshort20 Turbos do have a higher potential than superchargers, i'll still take any supercharger over turbos though, the big reasons being cost and the fact that you don't need a bunch of extra pipes etc. and in many cases, don't even need an intercooler. I've been leaning heavily on buying a centrifugal supercharger for my 400 big block when I switch to EFI.
@DeAdiSSu3 actually u can make a diy turbo kit for about the same price as a supercharger depending on what turbos u buy. And me personally, i like the challenge of routing and welding up a custom fab kit, but i definitely understand what u mean, the simplicity of a s/c amazing compared to a turbo. I am about to start the build up of my 1987 camaro w/ a 4.8l LS Vortec motor w/ LS9 cam and custom rear mounted twin turbo setup w/ air-water intercooler and water/meth kit. 600whp goal
@mtooshort20 I can see how that particular challenge would be a blast! No matter what happens during the build you end up with big power, how can you lose? Lol. With my car ('73 fury coupe) i'm going to be driving it around n/a for a while (400 big block w/ keith black 9 to 1 pistons, 750 edelbrock, mid-rise manifold and stock heads ported). In a year or so I'll get some aluminum heads, then worry about procharging it, might use the carb with the centri too, i've seen that before.
@DeAdiSSu3 yeah boosting a carb by means of anything other than a roots type blower can get kinda tricky as far as fueling. Blow thru carbs are expensive and kinda tough to tune. And actually, a EFI kit can wind up being just as cost effective as getting the correct carb setup when talking in terms of a boosted big block.
@mtooshort20 Thanks for the info, i'll have to do some research before I decide which way to go, I guess it kinda depends how much spare cash I have at the time. I'd like to do a dual cold air intake if possible, like NRE's naturally aspirated 850 hp 640 cubic inch chevy truck that they did, had a nice CAI setup that lets the engine breathe really well.
@DeAdiSSu3 well in my experience, it does a lot to just take ur time in the planning process, and build for the future, meaning figure out what ur realistic and ultimate goal for the car is, and then do some searching and research. Take ur ideas and pit them against whats on the market as far as parts, prices, etc. Nothing sucks more than to buy the perfect heads and then look and find a whole top end kit for the same price lol...been there lol
@DeAdiSSu3 thanks man, the real kicker is im building it as a road race car, so turbo sizing is what im trying to figure out right now.....dont want em too big or they spool while im in the middle of a corner and make the car way too unpredictable, and dont want em too small cuz they wont flow as well on the top end...either way, there aren't many road racing/grand touring third gens out there, so this will be quite the challenge...can't wait to get started! lol
@DeAdiSSu3 Look into putting the whole carb in an enclosure if you haven't already. If you want to run a centrifugal blower with a carb having the same pressure outside the carb as inside makes for easier tuning and no boost bleed through the shafts. Just remember to get solid floats :) My friend has a 67 Fury with a 383 and he's thinking of doing a blower too.
@331Grabber Id say go F/I if youre doing blower no? Sure its more $ but when it comes time for tuning and squeezing every hp you can gonna be lot easier no? Just thinking how hard is it going to be to get a solid AFR through the range with just a timing light and some jet adjustments :/ I haven't done any carb tuning on any F/I stuff but I imagine its a little bit of a PITA. I know they make the blow thru types but even then, is it worth the $/power? Fuel an issue? Dont know thats why I ask?
@antonio105x Yeah. F.I. is definitely better all around. I've heard good things about the Mega Squirt system. I was just thinking cheap and easy. I believe the new Mega-Squirt has a self tuning function as well. I know carb/blower set ups can make crazy power but F.I. will make crazier power and run more reliably.
@331Grabber yeah those look sweet for not too much $ either! Build your own FI system ftw! Guess if you're doing that though you'll want or need to adapt to a coil/plug setup over reg dist. Not too bad too do that, thats why ive always said technology in cars may seem like a headache (i.e. sensors/computers) but having an ecu control ignition/fuel is huge for performance and convenience. Forget adjusting distributors and carbs daily, rather just hook into ecu and make few clicks etc :)
@antonio105x Right on :) I'm buying the Retrotek Powerjection III for my car. Looks like a 750 Demon and is a fully functional F.I. system. Good to 700 HP and boost friendly. Also a self tuner. Modern tech in just the right dose makes old muscle cars really shine. Next the drum brakes are going away :)
AMAZING!!! The car looks like a stock, sleeper. I was lucky enough to swing by Fastlane and check it out. Can't wait to see track times. My guess - Mid 11 at 135
12:20 on street tires, just spinning all the way down the track. My guess low 11's high 10's on drag radials... still went .1 seconds faster than Hennessey's camaro....
is that the waste gate making noise on the road test when shifting? if so it sounds so bad ass, almost like getting whipping in the face by something!!! unbelievable as usual, keep up the killer work guys. wish i lived closer.
haha i like the retard that thinks his vtec is a beast lol cant believe that camaro is 770 rwtq lol thats more than enough to pull my 32 ft cabin cruiser around hahaha

A turbo on a 4-banger, however, means no parasitic effect on the crank, although there are exhaust gas backpressure issues with turbos so they aren't completely free of inefficiency. Also turbos get so hot that when you turn the engine off, oil can be baked into the bearings.
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 if u size the turbo correctly in correlation to the engine, back pressure is negligible.
Superchargers suffer from heat soaking and make it a lot harder to cool the intake air charge. in comparison, Supercharger intake air temps can reach well over 400 degrees and even with a water cooled one like kenny bell, temps rarely get lower than 200degrees. whereas, turbos, air temps start at around 250 degrees and can be lowered to below ambient...much safer for engines and denser for power
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 The term "heat soak" refers to a raise the the engine coolant system temperature and pressure after the engine is turned off....
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 this is true, but i'm using the term in a performance aspect in which the supercharger housing gets significantly hotter due to it being mounted directly on the engine and thus making the intake charge much hotter, resulting in the computer retarding timing and taking fuel away in an attempt to prevent detonation. That may not be the correct term for it, buts its used vastly with this definition in the performance world. Anyways, that's what i meant lol.
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 You do realise that not all superchargers are mounted on the intake manifold, right? I had always liked the efficiency in which a twin-screw supercharger compresses air, instead of the lobes inside a roots blower....now though, i'm starting to really like the idea of centrifugal superchargers....you might not get the immediate torque of a positive displacement supercharger, but a centri will be easier on the engine helping it last longer, while keeping your boost at ambient temps...
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 yes i do realize their are centrifugal superchargers but i was speaking in terms of roots style blowers. i like centrifugals as well, they are in a sense, belt driven turbos and run much cooler. Their only real drawback is the fact that they cant spin nearly as fast as a turbo due to being belt driven, so they are limited in the amount of boost they can produce. But i do like them as well as turbos. Turbos just seem to have a higher potential than s/c, is basically all im sayin.
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 Turbos do have a higher potential than superchargers, i'll still take any supercharger over turbos though, the big reasons being cost and the fact that you don't need a bunch of extra pipes etc. and in many cases, don't even need an intercooler. I've been leaning heavily on buying a centrifugal supercharger for my 400 big block when I switch to EFI.
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 actually u can make a diy turbo kit for about the same price as a supercharger depending on what turbos u buy. And me personally, i like the challenge of routing and welding up a custom fab kit, but i definitely understand what u mean, the simplicity of a s/c amazing compared to a turbo. I am about to start the build up of my 1987 camaro w/ a 4.8l LS Vortec motor w/ LS9 cam and custom rear mounted twin turbo setup w/ air-water intercooler and water/meth kit. 600whp goal
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 I can see how that particular challenge would be a blast! No matter what happens during the build you end up with big power, how can you lose? Lol. With my car ('73 fury coupe) i'm going to be driving it around n/a for a while (400 big block w/ keith black 9 to 1 pistons, 750 edelbrock, mid-rise manifold and stock heads ported). In a year or so I'll get some aluminum heads, then worry about procharging it, might use the carb with the centri too, i've seen that before.
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 yeah boosting a carb by means of anything other than a roots type blower can get kinda tricky as far as fueling. Blow thru carbs are expensive and kinda tough to tune. And actually, a EFI kit can wind up being just as cost effective as getting the correct carb setup when talking in terms of a boosted big block.
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 Thanks for the info, i'll have to do some research before I decide which way to go, I guess it kinda depends how much spare cash I have at the time. I'd like to do a dual cold air intake if possible, like NRE's naturally aspirated 850 hp 640 cubic inch chevy truck that they did, had a nice CAI setup that lets the engine breathe really well.
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 well in my experience, it does a lot to just take ur time in the planning process, and build for the future, meaning figure out what ur realistic and ultimate goal for the car is, and then do some searching and research. Take ur ideas and pit them against whats on the market as far as parts, prices, etc. Nothing sucks more than to buy the perfect heads and then look and find a whole top end kit for the same price lol...been there lol
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@mtooshort20 Couldn't have said it better, thanks for the advice bro! Good luck with your build as well, should be an absolute monster!
DeAdiSSu3 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 thanks man, the real kicker is im building it as a road race car, so turbo sizing is what im trying to figure out right now.....dont want em too big or they spool while im in the middle of a corner and make the car way too unpredictable, and dont want em too small cuz they wont flow as well on the top end...either way, there aren't many road racing/grand touring third gens out there, so this will be quite the challenge...can't wait to get started! lol
mtooshort20 7 months ago
@DeAdiSSu3 Look into putting the whole carb in an enclosure if you haven't already. If you want to run a centrifugal blower with a carb having the same pressure outside the carb as inside makes for easier tuning and no boost bleed through the shafts. Just remember to get solid floats :) My friend has a 67 Fury with a 383 and he's thinking of doing a blower too.
331Grabber 7 months ago
@331Grabber Id say go F/I if youre doing blower no? Sure its more $ but when it comes time for tuning and squeezing every hp you can gonna be lot easier no? Just thinking how hard is it going to be to get a solid AFR through the range with just a timing light and some jet adjustments :/ I haven't done any carb tuning on any F/I stuff but I imagine its a little bit of a PITA. I know they make the blow thru types but even then, is it worth the $/power? Fuel an issue? Dont know thats why I ask?
antonio105x 6 months ago
@antonio105x Yeah. F.I. is definitely better all around. I've heard good things about the Mega Squirt system. I was just thinking cheap and easy. I believe the new Mega-Squirt has a self tuning function as well. I know carb/blower set ups can make crazy power but F.I. will make crazier power and run more reliably.
331Grabber 6 months ago
@331Grabber yeah those look sweet for not too much $ either! Build your own FI system ftw! Guess if you're doing that though you'll want or need to adapt to a coil/plug setup over reg dist. Not too bad too do that, thats why ive always said technology in cars may seem like a headache (i.e. sensors/computers) but having an ecu control ignition/fuel is huge for performance and convenience. Forget adjusting distributors and carbs daily, rather just hook into ecu and make few clicks etc :)
antonio105x 6 months ago
@antonio105x Right on :) I'm buying the Retrotek Powerjection III for my car. Looks like a 750 Demon and is a fully functional F.I. system. Good to 700 HP and boost friendly. Also a self tuner. Modern tech in just the right dose makes old muscle cars really shine. Next the drum brakes are going away :)

@331Grabber Thanks for the advice, i'll save your comment. I just got out of detox and my memory isn't so good right now haha

Are you seriously talking about a Scion right now....?
The 2010 Camaros run 12's stock weighing around 4,000 lbs.
A stock LS1 Camaro can run mid to low 13's. Throw some DR tires on them & they are high 12 sec cars.
Go full bolt on & you have a mid 12 to 11 sec car. fastest stock internal bolt on LS1 in the 1/4 is 11.42. Aint NO Scion can do that.
Put a cam in it & you got a mid to low 11 sec car.... Even faster with some weight reduction & good driver.
put a turbo or s/c it & well.... yea
DoggyB22 2 years ago 3
oh my god!! the new camaro is even more customizable than scions hahaha
Doritognawler 2 years ago 13
cause scions suck
crf150f0694 2 years ago 31
Granted yes they suck. But the fact remains, a bolt-on turbo puts a scion at 11-12s in the 1/4. Just throwing it out there.
EvilCerealBoX 2 years ago
@EvilCerealBoX
no they wont
you have to redo the internals and make sure the tranny can hold up to it and everything else....
typical ricer
lemme guess you run 13:1 compression with that turbo LOL

AMAZING!!! The car looks like a stock, sleeper. I was lucky enough to swing by Fastlane and check it out. Can't wait to see track times. My guess - Mid 11 at 135
cbluerock 2 years ago
12:20 on street tires, just spinning all the way down the track. My guess low 11's high 10's on drag radials... still went .1 seconds faster than Hennessey's camaro....
