  • This is the greatest game ever made. Creativity on this level has ceased to exist :(

  • And after his story... I don't want to kill him...

  • Beats COD any time!

  • Compelling. One question: Which of the two creatures onscreen was the one that was talking? I couldn't tell.

  • @GraveHorizon The frog-like thing is a "talking pet", a genetically modified Dynarri that translates for the Ur-Quan. The talking pet is translating for the Kohr-Ah.

  • Yikes. The Ur-Quan are practically boy scouts in comparison to their Kohr-Ah brethren.

  • The good ship LoveBoat. :P

  • These are scary, profound villains. Their voice, their words..

  • These guys had to hide out in the cold frozen north to avoid their producers in order to finish this game, no joke. If that's not commitment I don't know what is.

  • help petition a remake, google "star control 2 petition"

  • @bluestreek004 Some sort of money drive would be more effective. Those game designers are still really funny and I've always got the impression they would prefer to work on a similar project. Gather the money, somehow and I'm sure it's possible to work out the details and get a remake or a real star control 2 sequel.

  • Epic. Brilliant voice acting. Brillian monologue. Best game.

  • Epic. Brilliant voice acting.

  • I think they should make another Star Control game with the same charm and intelligence as Star Control 2.

  • looks good, where can i get this game ?

  • @Kamfrenchie anywhere, look up urquan masters on google

  • The storyline of this masterpiece of game is simply epic

  • @elShoggotho Almost. The Kzer-Za, being Ur-Quan (in other words, not "threats", but "enemies"), are not cleansed, merely defeated. They are guarding the Sa-matra during the Kohr-Ah death march, and then the two subraces continue their way around the galaxy.

  • ah... starcraft 2. old memories. so good game. sc1 and sc3 werent so good ones thought.

  • Bioware got an Ur Quan to voice Sovereign in Mass Effect apparently.

  • That's actually wrong....their doctrine is "the eternal doctrine" not now and forever...a minor error in an otherwise flawless speech

  • is he talking about black people?

  • I didn't play Control 2 but I played Control 3, these guys are obviously so much better in this game.

  • @AustinUkulelePono You have no idea. These guys are a lot creepier than the SC3 versions.

  • the bottom eyes never blinks!

  • According to the devs, The Taalo may not be dead.

  • Huh... You know I was thinking... Ur-Quan are supposed to have extremely strong territorial instincts. I read that Kzer-Za Dreadnaughts only have 1 Ur-Quan aboard because if they meet another Ur-Quan they'll fight to the death because of their instincts, so they have a bunch of battle thrall crew. How about for the Kohr-Ah??? Obviously THEIR vessels would have no non-Ur-Quan crew. Do they have better control over their killer instinct or what?

  • That game was so much... awesome. Amazing. It's still one of the best to these days.

  • this voice sounds like sovereigns from me xd

  • Must've been a fart that the Ur-Quan smelt...^_^;

  • Ur-Quan - instantly my favourite scary tentacled aliens ever.

  • Wow... that was deep. I mean REAL deep. Why hasn't anyone made a movie of this yet?

  • To make a movie that encompasses the Star Control 2 universe would require quite a long movie...

This is just one part of the story. The entire thing is a huge tapestry of political and racial intrigue. Very awesome. The game is free to download and free to play, if you're interested in it I suggest you give it a shot. This is simply the best game I have ever played.

  • ....the part of the story that stands out the most for me is when the Melnorme race explains that after the bloody Doctrinal War ends, the split Ur-Quan races agreed to head in opposite directions across the galaxy, encircling it only to confront one another again at the opposite side of the galaxy millenia later for a final showdown with both races amassed fleets & armadas!!!

    -EPIC STORY.....

  • Don't forget about the Sa-Matra. xD

  • For those who may not know, that talking brain pet you see there is the once powerful Dynaari, who enlaved the Ur-Quan through mind control long ago, yet now the tables have turned and the Ur-Quan enlave them and use them as mere translators.

  • nice!!

  • =) this game rocks

  • loved this game so damn much

  • I think starcraft ripped this voice off for the Overmind. This voice is awsome. Never played or even heard of this game.

  • Kohr-Ah's voice is epic

  • Funny, I sound and look just like that when I get up in the morning [joke].

    Actualy, this guy is awesome.

  • Just asking, would anyone disagree that this game kicks the shit out of most of the games out now for the 3 systems? This is one of my favorite games of all time. As you just proven the voice acting is great and the story is well writen

  • @SVDDragunov83 There's a game for the Nintendo DS called "Infinite Space" which strongly reminds me of this game. As a huge fan of SC2, I'd probably buy a DS just to play Infinite Space! You should give it a look.

  • @SVDDragunov83

Well I wouldn't agree the voice acting is necessarily great (although the Kohr-Ah is one of the ones that IS great, along with the Ilwrath.) Otherwise I fully agree though. It's my favourite game too.

Just the talky version has some pretty so-so voices here and there. (Like the Spathi... I love the Spathi, but their voice... ugh.)

  • Whenever I listen to the Kohr-Ah speak, I can't help but feel a little bit pf sympathy for them. There's a lote more emotion to their words than the Kzer-Za seem capable of.

  • They will eradicate you. Your sympathy is not relevant. You will be cleansed.

  • Hey, space is a tough place, where wimps eat flaming plasma death.

  • The Kohr-Ah are just so much more awesome then the Kzer-Za.

  • this looks like a pretty sick game, i should try it out.

  • Every time I bump into an Ur-Quan ship I always hope I can somehow get them to be my ally, but I never can :(

The Ur-Quan are just so awesome, I wonder if there are real Ur-Quan aliens somewhere in the universe (or atleast an alien race that's identical). Although that wouldn't be too good for the human race I think.

  • lol :D I like this nightmare creatures too :) But I like your comment more... mostly the second part from it hahaha :P

  • "We are the Ur-Quan Khor-Ah. Our faith, the fullfillment of our destiny, requires your destruction. You will now die. Perform whatever rituals are necessary for your species preceding death. You are filth. We shall cleanse."

The Ur-Quan Khor-Ah are pretty much the most bad ass space evils of all times. The idea that, if told just the right combination of words, they'd sit down, have a nice chat, simply seems out of character for them. And you don't get out of fighting them anyways. Stupid.

  • You are wrong. The Ur-Quan are extremely intelligent as a species. The black Ur-Quan are no different except that they are predisposed to their kinetic tendencies. They still have all the sophistication of their ancient hunter-warrior bloodline. There is a certain generosity one will tend to demonstrate in circumstances where novelty is bound to go underappreciated. Since they consider their prey unworthy, this challenge offers a chance to present a testament to themselves greater than victory

  • alone would allow for. They enjoy victory twice in defeating their opponents to justify a legacy they have related in advance of destroying them. It is a profoundly philsophical act to relate the story and then to proceed accordingly to "cleanse the filth." Their defeat at the hands of the 'filth,' or 'threat,' better yet, is unanticipated. If you died at the hands of the Kohr-Ah, not only would relating their story first be profound, but also prove elegant in terms of their victory over you.

  • The Kohr-Ah are a consumate warrior race and the fact that when challenged to explain their Doctrine they will stop to describe it to their prey is the most noble and endearing aspect of what is otherwise a xenocidal and murderous culture.

  • yeah, what he said.

  • Favorite game of all time.

  • You have spoken them rightly.

  • I like the voice of Kohr-Ah more than the voice of Kzer-Za! But Ur-Quan Dreadnought is my favorite starship! I like his heavy weapon and the Dreadnought is large, beautiful and maybe fast(i'm not sure for the last) more than the Marauder according me! And the victory hymn of the green is AWESOME!!!

  • actually, the kohr-ah and the kzer-za have caterpillar like bodies with four more tentacles at the back

  • I like the Kohr-Ah better than the Kzer-Za.

  • Hands down the Greatest game ever

This part was one of my Favorites

    The Words...

It took me ten years to beat this game

    I loved every second

  • It's great that they actually gave the bad guys a reason for their actions instead of just makin one-dimensional bad guys.

The Ur-quans (both races) are one of the most complex bad guys in any game.

  • This game's so fucking awesome, everything's close to perfection, from the music to the combat and story.

  • if the spathi were real i think they would be insulted i think

  • In fact the story they tell is .. logical enough to give them a reason to "cleanse". As the Kohr-Ah said, "Can you imagine what it feels like to feel screaming pain to month's end? No, you cannot."

They've suffered a lot ... A LOT. They're just bitter. Wonder if I could have just given them cookies.

  • I think thats something the Pkunk would have tried, had the Kohr-Ah reached them.

(Although you can let the Kohr-Ah start to exterminate everyone! If you wait long enough they win the war!)

  • They were also genetically manipulated by the evil Dynarri. That's a good reason for being pisseds off!

The Ur-Quan are not outright evil. They are just extremely paranoid and self-serving. The Kzer-Za are just lesser jerks. Give me a slave shield over being a thrall, or "cleansing".

  • I agree. The Ur-Quan aren't really "evil." They're just incredibly hurt as a whole.

  • Man, that's messed up...

  • Your ship is called "Loveboat"? ...

  • Hahahaha, awesome.

  • You should upload more Kohr-Ah and Kzer-Za dialogue :D theyre so very menacing

  • The Kohr-Ah talk about the one eyed creatures Mael-num! can it be the Melnorme?? it resembles

  • They are one and the same. It's been confirmed by the developers.

  • It has? When and where did this happen?

  • Go to the Pages of Now and Forever. There is a recorded dialogue between Fred Ford/Paul Reiche, and fans of the game asking for explanations.

Fred/Paul confirmed that the Mael-Num are the ancestors of the Melnorme.
