THE REMOTE ITSELF doesn't do anything. The function buttons on it are just cue buttons for a predetermined iR signal.
All the real tech stuff was done where it's cheaper to hire the computer scientists and electrical engineers (Probably Singapore or some other up-and-coming East Asian country).
All the manufacturing was done where it's cheaper for factories to churn these out (Mexico).
