For everyone saying that the launch control sucks, it's actually working fine.
The launch control is actually much faster than a manual box. Both Car and Driver and R&T tested the launch control, and it did 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, 0-100 in 6.9!!! In comparison, a rwd manual Gallardo Balboni took 3.5 and 7.5 seconds. Oddly, Lambo says it takes like 3.7 sec to 60. Paddleshift>manual in speed.
Guys he had no control over the launch. The LP560 does not have a clutch pedal it is an E Gear car and this was a demonstration of the automatic launch. It bogged down on launch because the car sensed loss of traction and cut the power and or there was clutch slip. Probably from Journos launching it all the time....;)

i'd like to see a comparo where cars accel times are compared between launch control with a regular stomp on the loud pedal, with and without ESP. that will give us an idea of how it'll perform at a regular stop light when ur gonna show off to onlookers.

The car is AWD...your not going to get tire smoke with launch control..the car has to begin to roll of start before it takes off ...the HP with the v10 would tear the gears out of it..
He totally messed up that launch control, totally!!! This car rips from the start without launch control. You don't really need launch control. Either his clutch slipped or he had traction control on. This is the problem with review cars, they are driven by to many people that have no idea and clutch and other parts are worn out or damaged.
He didn't mess it up. That car has the E-gear transmission which handles everything, including shifting and clutch., There's no clutch to modulate, so if it had a bad launch, it was the car's fault.
Guess what? I own 560-4. He definetly messed it up or he had a dodgy car. They need to be run in properly especially the clutch. People burn clutches in these cars in first few days or bend the plates. It takes around 500 miles to run the clutch in properly. If this car has been abused from new by reviewers than its a dud. Recently I tested Audi R8 that was a demo and used by reviewers and it smocked the clutch just reversing out of my garage. Well looked after 560-4 is a rocket!

The car's launch control is probably not going to take off hard enough to damage its own transmission. They just took the feature off another car, I'm not sure which one, I think the GT-R, because people were taking advantage of the warranty.

Track days will not only make you a better driver, they will make you slow down on public roads. There is no place else you can responsibly unleash 560 hp!
Launches are slower for the 4wd lambo. Those who mod up the gallardo with turbo's and want a quick start usually make the car 2wd. Either way its faster than many other cars out there.

Clutch and throttle control are good for launches, but the paddle gear box is much better for track racing. You can shift gears faster than any human can. So its a matter of preference.

Great guy this Edward Loh imho. He said he was going to demonstrate the launch control on this car and that's EXACTLY what he did. No more, no less. You can bet he did take off like a rocket: no wheelspin, 4WD and 560 HP.
I wonder how many times you can launch like that before you burn out the E-gear.I would like to try it but not in the mood to spend another 10k to replace the E-gear system.

Clutch and throttle control are good for launches, but the paddle gear box is much better for track racing. You can shift gears faster than any human can. So its a matter of preference.

Well, if u are one of the editor in Motortrend or R&T or C&D, the reason they don't seems that impress is probably because they've seen and driven enough car already. Unlike an average joe who would start to wet his pants if they see an exotic pass by

Drove a regular (E-gear) Gallardo on the track yesterday btw, "pretty nice" indeed :D.
Great guy this Edward Loh imho. He said he was going to demonstrate the launch control on this car and that's EXACTLY what he did. No more, no less. You can bet he did take off like a rocket: no wheelspin, 4WD and 560 HP.
