Was the right to own slaves in the U.S. made up ? There is nothing that I can find holding the original Bill if Rights that allows someone to own another person. On Ebay I bought a replica of the Original United States Bill of Rights and Constitution dated 1789 it says in:

" Article the seventh [5th Amendment]

No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;.. "

The Bill of Rights does not say anything about the right to own slave persons.

The 5th Amendment protected the rights of citizens. Slaves were property, not citizens.

The Constitution says: "Representatives ... shall be apportioned ... according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and ... three fifths of all other Persons." You are correct. "Blacks" did fight in the American Revolution. Some even fought for the American cause, but they were free and fought mostly in northern colonial militias, not in the south. Some slaves were even permitted in revolutionary forces, but only a scant few, again mostly in the north, and for their patriotism, they received their freedom. Most Africans in the American colonies were slaves.

By 1775, slavery was a necessity for economic success in the southern colonies, especially on plantations raising tobacco and rice which were labor intensive. In the South those slaves who fought did so for the British, who in turn helped took them to Canada when they withdrew. The purpose of the documentary was not to chronicle the actual fight and regimental numbers. The purpose was to focus on the role of slavery in causing the American Revolution.

I suggest you read Paul Heinegg's 2 volume series on Free African Americans which traces many, many african american families to their origins in colonial America. In 1791 the right to own slave person was Not obvious because of the new Bill of Rights 5th Amendment.

The Articles of Confederation of 1781 allowed current slave ownership but for new born persons ?

But that was amended in 1791
