Wow, never thought I'd find the Torpedoes here. Fond memories of sunday lunch sessions at the playhouse (usually nursing a rotten hang over from the Baltic the night before.) Used to see 'em at the Lonsdale too along with Coco Canyon and his Amazing R&B Spitfires - what ever became of those loonies? Between the Torpedoes and Arthur 2-Stroke and the Chart Commandos. There was a lot of soul in the toon at that time.
They are still playing as The Smokin' Spitfires. The album was remixed back to it's original speed a couple of years later, but was never released. The guitarist at this point was Steve Hall, ex of Roxoff.
sunday dinner times in the playhouse foyer as well. I still come in my pants when i hear the guitar solo in this track, it is magnificent. Sweet memories indeed....tor....pee....does !!!!
Night was hot, shirt so wet it could've been raining......... yup every Tuesday night at the Assembly Rooms on Gosforth High St,. Innocent times, good times, good friends, some now lost. What an awesome band they were - did we really appreciate how good they were at the time? I'm so greatful that these tracks have been posted here.
