In my experience, the 2.5-to-3.5 jack trick does not work. Maybe it did at some point, but an update killed it somehow. Or maybe it only works on certain hardware versions. Whatever the case, I'm looking for a more concrete solution than the jack converter trick. I literally just took an Xbox 360 mic apart to see if I could rewire the jack to my laptop. No avail.

dont do this, just get a 2.5 male to 3.5 female, and a two sided 3.5 male, and connect it to your computer and your done, youc an play any sounboard or any song you want, for like what, 5 bucks?

@SXENedger the problem is your not using a 3 barrel connector. The cable you need has a certain order in which ground-mic-speaker are sent. Barrel is ground, ring 1 is speaker ring 2 is mic. Make sure you have a 3 barrel cable and that will be your problem im 100% sure as most cables are opposite of this and you are most likely using a 2 contact 2.5mm plug

@canihave2bucks True but what I really like to go for is believable sounds. When you place an Xbox mic up to any speaker, it picks up bass waves, which overloads the Xbox Live voice channel and causes distortion. The beauty of the TrashTalk was that all bass could be removed.

Nice tutorial. But I found out another way on how to do it. Buy a 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRS cable for 5 dollars. Buy a 3.5mm to 2.5 mm adapter for 3 dollars. Set your xbox live voice options to play out of your TV speakers, and then plug one end of the 3.5mm TRS cable into the 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. Plug the 2.5mm plug into your xbox 360 controller's headset jack. And then stick the remaining end of your 3.5mm stereo cable into your PC's headphone jack. Then use the soundboard of your choice!
