In Shah Jahan's time, India became the leading exporter in textile but because he spent so much money building Taj Mahal, the empire became on the verge of disintegration. His successor tried to save it, probably making some wrong moves in the process (I am referring to his harsh treatment toward the Hindu subjects), but the empire wouldn't recover. has Shah Jahan not been a lover boy in mourning and focused on getting newer technology...

It was only after Tipu Sultan was vanquished that constant warfare ceased in Mysore and able British and Indian administrators turned the state into one of the most progressive ones in India. And all those who are singing paeans on his behalf, had you been living then, he would have taxed the c**p out of you to finance his glorious rule (like most other Indian rulers) so you would have been singing a different tune.

@ultimaterscorpion Perhaps you are not much into Indian history.Mughals became weak after the death of Aurangzeb with his unfruitful expeditions against Shivaji in Deccan.So the musical chair went on with none of the Mughals completing any successful terms while Nadir Shah and Abdali looted India mercilessly.Marathas who even reinstated Mughal emperors like Shah Alam Sani in Delhi lost to Abdali in Panipat which paved the way for the British rule in India.So Mughals were a spent force by 1750s.
