The general consensus on speed runs is that in-game glitches are fine but modding isn't. More often than not people blow through a game that normally takes several hours in under 20 minutes by skipping more than half of it (Portal for example). So no, it's not very stupid.

@CuzIwasBored : lol I just wanted to show everyone I was starting from the sewers in the beginning of the game. A lot of other speed runs have already been playing the game and therefore have money and materials needed to do the glitch. I started with nothing but some armor and a lock pick :P
