V-strom and BMW F650GS on Texas Highway 87

Is that highway still there after IKE came through? Ive always wanted to run it; heard there were some abandoned gas stations up that way.

@coorsbeer93 This vid was before Ike. I've been there since (and on a easier to ride bike.. the DRZ!) and things were pretty much the same. I did see that gas station that was abandoned.

I took a trip East from High Island on 87 May 2008. The blade had been through that day so I was able to do 5 miles. There was a homeless guy living in his van at the end of the road. He told me that he was from Plato Mo. and he was a Veteran. I am not sure what happned to him when Ike hit.

I know about that electric fence. If it is the one 2 miles East of High Island it was destroyed by Ike.

I met the farmer last year who owns that ranch. He is in his early 80's; he still uses a dozer.
