this is an actual video recording of a captured space alien that was trained by nasa to imitate david bowie. it was intended to be a sequel to the 70's blockbuster "the man who fell to earth".
I saw this tour in '76, from the fifth row at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. We found it very ironic that when the during the opening song, "Station to Station" when he sang, "...it's not the side effects of the cocaine" that the white lights filled the auditorium.
And yeah, he didn't look well at all, but it was a great show anyhow.
The Thin White Duke on the Station to Station tour in Dusseldorf in April 08 1976. Could it be any more perfect and significant in any period?? Kraftwerk were busy working on their masterpiece "Trans Europe Express"( sample lyric from the title track: "From station to station
back to Dusseldorf City
Meet Iggy Pop and David Bowie
..Trans-Europe Express"!). Bowie was entering arguably his most musically creative period. The European canon was well and truly here..!!
i weigh in at a modest 9 and a half stones. i was never any good at football (soccer) or rugby (they used me as the posts) or cricket...
why the fuck don't americans play cricket? it's the best sport in the world by MILES...
by the way - i'm an englishman who's supporting phelps in his quest for 8 golds. i'm fed up with these bloody chinese buying all our oil and gas - cheeky cute-looking cunts.
Fantastic period for a fan, even though it was an iffy time for him mentally and physically. And, although I love him, he could neve really dance could he ?
I grew up near the tower theater where David Live was recorded and he stayed at my parents house for 2 nights. I didn't get to meet him though 'cause I was away at camp....NOT. Come on you tubers...we all love him,but all these self-focussed entries are "pretty kooky" too.
Thanks! I wasn't sure how that comment would be taken or why I felt compelled to post it. Think the prize goes to the posting that "caught him looking at me" or some thing like that.
you are exactly right.. I saw this show in 76/the front row, honest!/ and he scared the SHIT out of me.. I was only 15 tho. He was SO thin and white..Especially with all the neon white lights...Seems so long ago.
im looking around for bootlegs of Davy on DVD during this tour... XD i just love his thin white duke persona! so, if anyone out there knows some highest-as-possible quality bootlegs, tell meee!!
I have a video called "Tour Rehearsals '76", it's been around for years with decent quality. It's probably on YouTube. It's really just what it sounds, him and the band warming up. The version of "Stay" is devastatingly tight.
Sounds like live in Toronto, we were there, but he is also huge in Germany,obviously....still, no Station to Station Live', I will post it as soon as I have time for everyone....no footage though....Live from Uniondale,New York, Nassauu Colesium, April/76 as I recall, as he hit us in T.O. ,I believe it was May/76,Jenna....your article....

Kraftwerk could have picked out the message of 'European cannon is here' meant.

I would assume Kraftwerk were in this audience..

yes - he did in fact meet up with Kraftwerk during this period.

Although Bowie was thin at the time. His voice and looks were so beautiful. Thanks for the video, lunamagic2004 :)

what's wrong with being thin? for christ's sake, they are trying to ban people for being thin, for smoking, for drinking, for taking drugs...
i'd much rather they banned people for being ugly, violent and stupid. wouldn't you?

He only weighed about 89 pounds, (40.4 kg) and at five foot ten, (178 cm) that's a slightly disgusting feat, though he was still handsome.
So I really doubt that rosalin74 meant that being thin is a turn-off.

Oh man. He's as white as a ghost. His cocaine addiction sure made his look as the Thin White Duke so distinguishing and scary.
