The most effective Spray spell I've found is Steam-Steam-Steam-Steam-Lightn­ing. This does great damage because both Steam and Lightning are very powerful, (damagewise), and the target is wet. The reason I choose four Steam elements instead of more lightning, is because it makes the spray bigger, and thereby more effective.

Arcane and Water is a great combination too. The more Water you add, the better it will be at pushing enemies away. One Water element will only push small enemies like goblins, where four Water elements will push bigger targets, and faster. (NOTE: DOESN'T WORK ON TROLLS!)

And the huge bonus is, all lightning damage is doubled against wet targets, and the Frost freezes the target.

For Area Spells though, you should use more Arcane, since it increases range in that case.

Another beam is Steam-Arcane-Lightning-Lightni­ng-Lightning. This has the advantage of making targets wet, while doing more damage than water.

A-A-A-S-R is the most effective beam. Because the more of an element you consume, the more damage or range it does. Often both. This does not apply to Arcane though, because it doesn't increase damage, and the range is already infinite. So with A-S-R, the only thing to improve is the damage. And since the Frost element isn't effective because of its damage, you get the best damage with as much lightning as possible.

One way to avoid lightning storm, use [shield+lightning] and use on yourself, it creates a lightning shield of sorts and lightning/electricity wont be able to hurt you while its on, this goes for all element's i found it extremely useful later on, however u cant really stack the shield's, so 1 or two at a time.
