@Matteo4427 The Disney one has a number of virtues, but I disagree about it being 'exciting.' I always have trouble staying awake through Disney's version. The title characters are too bland.
@TaranWanderer2 the disney's one has hidden message...if you hear the song colors of the wind there are comments in wich there is written why can't the world just be like this song?the disney's one it's a story of love, courage and passion
@Matteo4427 Pocahontas isn't supposed to be a love story, and I can't enjoy a love story in which the characters are as bland and boring as Pocahontas and John Smith are in the Disney film. Pocahontas acts and behaves like an animated Barbie doll, and that's booring. Sorry.
@TaranWanderer2 it IS a children's film. It's not really supposed to work on carefully woven levels of character depth. It's a bit of a bog standard love story but it's setting has a lot of good messages about living peacefully both with your fellow man and your world. Plus in the end it was Pocahontas who saved John Smith so in many ways she's much more special than some Barbie Doll.
@usagixbun It is not a children's film. It is a *family* film, so need to get out more if you think family films are not expected some degree of depth in both story and characters. Pixar's and Disney's classic films are also family films and, though there are exceptions, they are often very complex on both departments. Pocahontas saving John Smith after delivering a corny speech is not character development, it is a plot device, so it doesn't count.
@TaranWanderer2 You must be one of those people that goes to Disney and only sees lines and price tags.I am truly sorry for you. That was'nt sarcasm, I really feel bad.Infact I almost want to cry now it's so depressing. If I could do something to change your perspective I would.
@NYCprincess7 Your assuming wrong. My criticism is not towards Disney classics, it's toward their corny, gibberish adaptation of "Pocahontas." I'm a fan of tthe real Disney classics.
@NYCprincess7 Not by the actual definition of the word. I don't consider anything made past 1980 a classic, and a label on a VHS that says 'classic' is not going to change my mind.
I loved doing this song.....It's one of my favorites still out of all of them, reading some of the comments, I'm happy people still want to hear the songs....
Thank you for uploading this! I LOVE the Disney version and I also LOVE this version. I consider myself a fan of Pocahontas's life not really the ones depicated in movies. Both movies where meant for entertainment not accuracy. Honestly if they were 100% accurate the story would have a sad ending and that doesn't make good TV/Movies espically for kids. Just take both versions for what they are "A [very] loose story of her life."
@FuturePWilliams I have to disagree regarding sad endings not making good movies, even for kids. Plenty of wonderful stories for children end tragically. For example, "A Dog of Flanders."
I think all the haters and complainers need to either SHUT UP or LEAVE. First off, this is a children's video; it's not supposed to be 100% historically correct! And I don't think kids are all that concerned about where these people went to the bathroom or why Pocahontas's outfit was pink. And THANK YOU, @Serdikhan! All of the accurate details cannot be included in a kids' video; most of it is much too violent. So y'all just need to chill out and quite complaining.
@Serdikhan Kid, whether the character wears pink or polka dot green is completely irrelevant. That's not what makes either movie more exciting than the other. If that's your best argument, you can drop it because it's pretty retarded.
@Serdikhan What, you actually think Disney's Pocahontas used a toilet?! The one attached to her tent's plumbing?!? Dude, that's the LAMEST thing you've said yet, and trust me, you've said a lot of LAME things.
If you don't like the movies, don't watch these videos or comment on them, because frankly I'm already getting sick of approving your dumb comments.
@Serdikhan That's your own opinion, and I doubt too many people are interested in it. The original story of Pocahontas is much more interesting than that of two cardboard characters with no personality whatsoever, holding a romantic relationship when two groups of people are fighting in the background. I mean, that's similar to why so many found "Titanic" unbearable.
@Serdikhan You give far too much importance to what color they're wearing. Pink, beige, or carnation, Jetlag's Pocahontas didn't spend her time talking to trees and falling in love with men with the personalities of pizza box cardboard.
@Serdikhan Em... I wonder why it is then that I'm constantly approving comments from people posting on these Jetlag videos sharing their memories with the rest of the YouTube commercial. No, Jetlag's films were released directly-to-video with mild publicity and no McDonald's promotions... that doesn't insure quality for the Disney film. There's plenty of conflict and drama in this version, it just happens to be *realistic* and truer to the facts than in Disney's corny fairy-tale romance.
@Serdikhan Neither do paper-thin characters and clichéd storylines. Look: The bottom line is that I find Disney's film to be one of their most tasteless, bland, dull and forgettable animated features of all, so I'm not going to waste my time arguing over a work like that. So, sorry.
@Serdikhan Em... I don't know what planet you're living in, but Disney's "Pocahontas" is not a particularly beloved animated film. It received terrible critical reaction and its box office performance was disappointing. The film is mostly popular with kids who grew up during the nineties (excluding myself), not really popular anywhere else.
I will grant you that the film does have lovely songs and an overall nice soundtrack.
@horseluver0987 What movie? You mean the Disney one? Why would this character look like a character from a movie that had not even been released yet? Even if it had been, there's no reason why this version had to follow Disney's (thank goodness they didn't).
does anyone know where i can find this film??
