lol I always call this "rabbit pinball" because it looks like they're bouncing off the walls - really they can spin on a dime though. Funniest is when one is racing around and the other is just sitting quietly ignoring them.
@mrurt that is soooooooooo cute, I hade a ginea pig witch is almost as cute but can't get hiccups, can't jump on couches, can't run super fast, can't get on my bed, and can't hold a carrot. But she still likes to cuddle!
you have quite an amazing rabbit there(i meen come on he can hold a carrot, walk him self and likes to cuddle!! amzing rabbit here!!!). ive watched all your videos of bailey and sadey. may i ask but what gender is bailey and whats your website called
@xxbryabuuxx bailey and sadie (aka grandpa) are both males. i fell in love with the holland lop breed along time ago and for the last dozen years all of my bunnies have been holland. you can read more on bunnymomma(dot)com
My bunny, Dexter, does this to but he likes to run around with bits of paper in his mouth the most. I just rip a page out of the phone book and give it to him and he happily runs up and down the room with it in his mouth.
@ratty860997 My oldest rabbit, Skippy, likes to tear up bits of paper and hop around with it in his mouth, sometimes even with the paper covering his eyes so he can't see where he's going. We call it his flag. It's so cute!
hi octane cawwot juice. since carrots are so high in sugar my bunnies only get the little one's a few times a week. sugar sugar sugar. haha. they love it, but just don't get much of it
@mrurt I hope you got a supercharger, also some bunny nos from petco is also very good. Don't forget to oil it once in a while. Clogs are a mess. JK lol i was looking for bunny vids bc im getting one
Can someone tell me why my rabbit always hides behind my couch and never comes out , only for food. and why its so antisocial? it always hides. and oly comes out for food and if no ones there. :[ HELP!
Perhaps you should look into the diet of your rabbit. Also, has the rabbit been mishandled or mistreated by anyone? I'd also consider your animal's living quarters.
3 important things:
1) Salt lick always on hand. This is CRITICAL to a bunny's overall health.
thanks lol i think ive kind of annoyed her by piking her up so much do you know how i can make her feel more comfortable around us? and when you say salt lick do you mean like table salt or is it something else? thanks
That's just something most younger rabbits won't do. It took ours until he was about 6 or 7 years old before he would finally come into the slick-floored kitchen (and sit below a chair while we were eating). I think it was more because he was getting older and may have been losing a little sensitivity in his feet. Ours may have been an exception too - every rabbit is different and has a different personality.
Bunny's don't need salt licks... The most important things are:
Timothy Hay
Fresh Veggies
Water
and Pellets if you choose. (Timothy based with no other things in the mixture such as veggie puffs, molasses, or seeds. Bunnies cannot digest seeds, nuts, or corn) Oxbow Bunny Basics T is one of the best brands out there.
also keep in mind that you should not feed pellets right away unless the bun is a picky eater there is no need for pellets as long as the food is balanced and bun eats all of it, and of course the blend contains no nuts etc then pellets are not needed...both my buns eat well and never leave anything in their bowls, they are fed a mix three times a day half a cup a time...along with hay and veggies of course.
Sweetie i think your rabbit likes the dark space...It's in his nature to hide...They like dark areas it's a safeplace for them...it is not always something you have done etc...though when picking him up if he doesnt like it go back to basics via talking and stroking, then try placing a hand under his belly to familiarise him with that then try kneeling and placing him on your lap and then work up to holding him when your standing. Hope this helps.
on occasion we'll hear some feet thumping, not very often though. but stuff that you would THINK would alarm them never does. we normally can't determine what it is that has caused the alarm. they travel well, they play chase and like being chased, they are just very secure and sociable.
How do you get them to play nice? I've heard bunnies are very territorial and will fight newcomers. I have a 2 year old bun and I'd love to get another one so she has a playmate, but I'm afraid they won't bond.
My bunny does that too but runs around the bedroom, hehe when he does that its called binkies i'm pretty sure oh by the way your bunny is really cute!
MY BUNNY DOES THAT TOO!!!! although he runs around the whole house not only 1 corner :). and then when my bunny is done, he just falls over and like totally falls asleep
What an energetic, happy bunny you have!! It's good he gets to run around like this. I've seen all your adorable rabbit videos. You seem to really know how to treat a bunny well. :3
bailey is not really a hyper bunny, what you are witnessing here is what we call a "binky". when a rabbit is very happy and excited they do binkies, the crazy dance of excitement. some bunnies are more energetic and do them more often.
the box is known as the "cottontail cottage" there is also one marketed by the name "critter castle" we order online.
I've got a holland lop myself, who looks EXACTLY like this rabbit, but he's much more content sprawling out on the floor and waiting for a snack, the only time he runs in circles around the house is late at night.
yeah, bunnies are "cerpuscular", that means they are most active at dawn and dusk. early in the morning and around 8pm is when we see all the antics around here, middle of the day is for sleeping and snacking only. :)
Our rabbit "Speckles" does that all the time too. It is so funny. We call it "doing a looney". We have a few cute films of him on the youtube under "Speckles the Rabbit" that you might like to watch.
search for critter castle or cottontail cottage. one has a step between levels, the other a ramp. mine don't care which it is, them big hoppers don't need much help!
i buy from cats, rabbits & more because they discount a 3 pack on occassion
You can also make your own because they'll just end up tearing it to shreds and eating most of it. Just find somewhere that recycles cardboard, they'll be happy to let you have a box or two. I make our Iddy Biddy a castle all the time. Usually a new one every week.
you sure can. if mine loved destroying them i might have to resort to that because of cost. but they put a hurting on willow, wow, all time favorite.
i purchase these because i like the way they look. i have so much rabbit "stuff" in the living room that i do my best to make it look as good as possible. bunnies are certainly not picky and you can go nuts with boxes and ideas.
they have their own bedroom and it is a literal playground with boxes, tunnels, tent's etc. a real jungle! :)
i'm sure there have been exceptions to that rule but i always have them spayed/neutered. first, my boys (all of them) show way to much interest in me, they circle and spray me when the hormones kick in. secondly, it is well documented that unspayed females frequently develop cancer in their reproductive systems if left un-spayed. hormones also tend to make does far more territorial
yup, we call the happy jumps binkies. most bunnies will do them, but they are so hard to catch on tape sometimes. once in a while i get lucky and the show hasn't finished before i start filming. :)
there can be many reasons for a bunny to leave "marbles" all over...puberty (needs netuer/spay), marking territory ( usually more than 1 bun in house) and the most common reason...cuz i'm a bun!
there is something about the way bailey does his binkies and runs the 500. he does it with such gusto! the buns get a whole lot of attn around here, they've been training me for 20 years now. only pet i've ever wanted. >:3
im about to get a bunnie, my guinea of 8 years died this nov. and i think im ready to get a new cuddle bug, but wonder wether males or females for bunnies tend to be more passive, i found for guineas all my boys were total sweethearts but the girls are less cuddly and more nippy and moody..
When I rabbit is let out of it's cage and it flips out, it is doing its bunny dance! Mine jumps up and down while running! He ran into a chair though, so he stopped doing his dance!
You are so lucky you can let your rabbit on the carpet! My rabbit (Mocha) eats the carpeting so I have to keep her on the tiling for her own well being. Mocha isn't much of a quick runner she is more of a jumper and she has already jumped up on kitchen chairs and the bay window which is about 2ft high. You have a very cute bunny!
the bay window is a favorite of baileys too. in my video "some of my favorite pictures.." you can see him laying in the window. he's the top hopper around here.
very hard to catch on camera! i have learned to leave my camera on the coffee table and still...by the time i get it open and shooting i've missed "the flash". :)
my dwarf rabbits dead now unfortinutly he died 2 days ago but when he was young he used to run round the garden like that and every now and then hed like twitch n jump really high lol he was cool
What a hyper bunny!!! My Flemish does that - but he runs upstairs back and forth one end of the hall to the other.. flying into the guest bedroom and jumping up onto the bed, then down and through the hall into our room and up onto our bed. He does this for about 15 minutes every night when my husband and I get home from work. They're just so entertaining! Some night we hear him upstairs running around.. he sounds like a child jumping all over the place!
i love to see binkies, my two old timers are not quite so athletic as Bailey here, but they can still pull off a few moves. if you watch my video of me playing in the hall with him you'll notice he throws binkies when playing too and comes right back around for more.
Hahah.. I actually watched that video last night. It was so cute! I then proceeded to try it on my rabbits and they just arched their head back to look at me like "what are you doing??"... they're more the tag-you're-it players.. we crawl around behind them, and then they chase us.
He he he my bad (Sorry) don't want him confused oh I should tell you right first my bunny was a boy I thought it was a girl. LOL I ended up naming him Pretty boy but not at first. My first bunny had it been a girl would been Emily. But now I have a Emily. I should make a video of the other little guy my lion head for you to see. ♥
