In different parts of the country I think that Planes are more popular than helis and cars come in a close second depending on your age. for me it is planes helis then cars

Cars are by far the most popular because even a 3 yr old can drive. Helis are the least because it takes crazy amounts of skill and years of experience just to fly on an intermediate level. Also because it's the most expensive as you'll crash a lot.

cars unfortunately. Everyone can drive a car around and can crash without damage. Flying aircraft is difficult and damage is easily done in a crash.

I think its a large battle between Cars and Planes. I would have to say cars due to popularity ( the general public ) knowing some form of RC (toys R us crap) and not so much planes. I'd say cars are more popular than any of the other types of models, mainly because you don't have to worry about wind and you can drive them almost anywhere. After that, I see the order as planes, helicopters, and finally boats.

That said, more popular doesn't equate to more challenging. The most challenging by far is the helicopter.

BTW, in the Quick Tips, I think the word he was trying to find was "coil", not "braid". It's impossible to braid a single cable.

I love airplanes, but I think Cars and Trucks are probably the most popular type of RC, because it takes less skill to drive than fly (2d vs 3d, Dealing with wind, etc.). Just look at any walmart type store. There are like 70 different RC cars, 10 helis, a plane or two. Ovbiously cars have a much wider appeal. When you ask most guys what is the fastest Mustang he will say "Saleen", or "Cobra". He won't even think P-51.

PLANES! Because it's difficult to outgrow as you require skills and practice from sim training unlike cars in which any dude can drive around... Planes won't stay there and let you fix the problem unlike cars... This makes it more challenging and HANDS DOWN WIN!
