  • Amazing how far Video technology is getting. I saw this cam for $78,000. The Red One I could of bought body only for $34,000 ex lenses . This is for the big boys. But love the camera and where all the dgital tech is headed. Good Job

  • I am wondering how they make 16x9 picture out of 1440x1080 resolution. If they use non-square pixels, or they simply do some sort of stretching to achieve 1920x1080 resolution, which corresponds to 16x9 ratio. Same thing with HDV, it recors 1440x1080 pixels. I think from Sony, only XDCAM EX can record full 1920.x1080, but only with 35Mbits/sec, which pales compared to HDCAM's 144Mbits/sec. How about a true cinematic 2.35:1 ratio? What camera would I need to have to achieve that?

  • Cinemascope is usually achieved through either Cropping or the use of an anamorphic lens Arris D21 supports anamorphic and I think the phantom high speed camera does as well outside of that you would shoot on 4 perf film stock.

  • When Lucas switched to digital, he used the cropping method, which effectively diminshed the 1080 lines of resolutions to something like 700 probably. I didn't know about the anamorphic lenses. You seem to know a lot. Thank you for the info.

  • you can only notice a small difference between the big x.d cams 330 and 350 when you hook them both up to a monitor and do side by side comparision. this camera is too much and red outperforms it and x.d cam gets very close.

  • how much does this camera costs

  • Cost for rent or sale???

  • $90k

  • maybe this model used. The new one for the body alone is around $100k not counting the lenses and still it is video and not film.

  • aki en peru hay una de esas es la unica HD q hay en el PERU, se ve muy nitido con esa camara, ya se han hecho muchos comerciales de publicidad, videos clips, documentales :)

  • Oh crap, High Def is killing the cinematic 2:35:1 aspect ratio.

  • Hardly. Many of the theatrically released movies shot in HD have simply been cropped to the 2.35:1 aspect ratio. It's alive and well in HD.

  • yep... like StarWars ep.II is a good example. but don't wory there a long way to HD become greater than Film, I still prefer Film but is too expensive!!!

  • Perfect
