I've just checked mine and it does make that noise, but only when loading for a few seconds between menus and stuff and start up. Are you saying yours does it all the way through the movie?
It depends on the movie. It does it all the way through the movie on Patton and 2001, for examples, but not on some lesser Blu-Rays. Doesn't ever do it on DVDs.
One way to make it quieter is to pick one of the lower quality soundtracks. For example, it's quiet on Patton if you pick the Dolby Digital soundtrack, but it's loud again if you use the high quality uncompressed linear PCM soundtrack.
I've just tried serveal Blu Rays in my player: Casino royal, ultraviolet, the dark knight, planet earth, resident evil degineration, hitchhiker's guide and total recall. Only total recall and hitchhiker's guide made a noise similarto your video, but then only on the first chapter and when loading menus. As I moved through the chapters it got quieter and quieter.
There's nothing wrong with it. Mine is the exact same. I mean you have the camera shoved up in front of it,what do you expect. You ain't going to be sitting that close to it.
I bought mind when i came out, it has been in my media room closet for the entire time, and it is quiet just like CheeseheadTanner's, you might want to take advantage of your warrenty
It sounds normal to me. All machines make normal moving noises though.

Spindle motor sounds like its rubbish bluray format HD player! Send it to the rubbish bin and buy a new player.

There's a button on your remote control that'll fix it. It's called volume ;-)

As you've already been told, your unit is probably defective. Even with your unit the transport noise is not that noisy.
