  • Love this song love all Roger Miller's songs. If you like this you'll probaly like Townes Van Zandt, Woodie Guthrie, Steve Earl, Leadbelly, and John Hiatt, and Doc Mongoose also all great artists. You can hear all of their music on youtube.

    regards

  • I get it.......now. Cause it sure does rain in Indianapolis in the summer time..

  • I can't remember Roger's version being played on the radio here(vancouver Cda). Of course this would of been at the height of the British Invasion, when better than half the pop songs being played were British. I do remember OC''s version....oh yes I do, and I would switch to the other pop station, no matter what they were playing. I prefer Roger Miller's version, he's King of the Road, Dang Me!

  • @cafe9802 I can't remember Roger for this one, probably cause I can't remember but I do remember King of the Road. Thx4 postin'

  • This song can only be understood by mature adults with a conscience, so it might be a bit hard for some. Great song, great artist, and thanks for posting it.

  • @myspareparts what? you are retarded. mature adults with a conscience? umm i dont think mature adults would be posting comments about "those that don't understand music." shut up.

  • One shit hit song!

  • one inch away? how would they ever prove that

  • this song is depressing

  • another hit by the late bobby russell.

roger's version is the best .

  • I think the late dennis brown's version is the best ive heard, I do still really like this tho, after all it's Music...and music makes the world go round!

  • mr miller sings this song better than any one god bless him

  • What a talented guy. This was my favorite and nobody did it like Roger Miller.

  • This is my favourite Roger Miller track and I believe it to be his best.

  • Was this before OC Smith's version?

  • In 1967, Roger scored what proved to be his last Top Ten hit with Bobby Russell's "Little Green Apples". Most people thought Roger had written it.
