I saw this video on a different website that said the pilot was instructed to execute and 'S' turn before landing to give the plane taking off in front of him more time. You can see the second plane just lifting off as this plane touches down
wow!!! that's really a very good pilot... it's difficult to land crosswinds visual and when he was totally at the left i thought he would go around!! Respect to that pilot!!
VMC vs IMC has very little to do with the difficulty of a crosswind landing... Wind Gust and Wind Shear do... a 15 knot steady crosswind is MUCH easier to land in than a 09G13 crosswind. Granted - landing those boats is a pain in the rear because you HAVE to crab-land them lest you engine strike... but that's another story.
Stabilized approach in steady x-wind is a lot
easier than *gusty* x-wind.
