Jesse, great videos of the S10-3T, I am sad that you no longer post videos about it! I wanted to ask if you had the SSD installed at the time of this video. I'm wondering if adding an SD card for readyboost is necessary if you have an SSD. Do you think it'll improve the performance to make a noticeable difference? If so, since I already have an SSD & 2 gigs of RAM installed, what do you think would be the largest size SD card that my S10-3T could take advantage of (before it is "excessive")?
@migz57 2GB Ram update will allow you to have more data stored temporarily. Readyboost will improve the system's load speed of programs and files. If you can use both. The SD Card also can store other files which allows very smooth playback since it's not loading from the hard drive. (it's like a mini Solid State Drive, and those are a bit expensive).
@JesseBAndersen So let's say i'm in the philippines and 8 gb sd card costs 1,200 pesos and the 2gb ram memory is 2,500 and all im asking for is for my s10-3t to become smoother than it is already i just want it to bee smooth enough for it to not freeze and etc what will you recommend?
@migz57 Optimize the system and your system can handle a few programs with 1GB RAM. If you watch movies on the go and want steady playback then get the SD card. The 2GB is recommended for Windows 7 systems if you plan on multitasking a lot. It really depends on how you use the system.
@JesseBAndersen Hey did you already sell your s10-3t are you gonna stop making vids about it cuz at your last post a link at the bottom is about lenovo x201 am i right?
@migz57 I don't have the S10-3T anymore so I can't make more videos about it. I might do a few more posts and then won't be updating it anymore. The blog will stay up for future S10-3T owners. For those curious to see what I do with tablets they will have to go to the lenovo x201 blog.
@JesseBAndersen looks good...only if MS would develop an tablet version of this to compete with IPAD and offer more but they obviously gave up before they even started.
@DJTEVAdotCOM I think Windows 8 could be the one. The problem that Microsoft has is that they try to fit everyone's needs and therefor they end up with a hybrid of sorts that kind of fits both home users and business users. We'll see what they end up doing.
@DJTEVAdotCOM Yes. The iPad has a very nice user interface. I wonder why no Windows developers have thought of doing the same for a Windows browser. It would bring a good experience to all the people who use Windows as their operating system.
i returned ...it was just too heavy and surfing the web was finger friendly for me...I might just get a iapd for what i need...Ipad browser auto fit web pages to fit the screen and zooming and paning is smoother.
@DJTEVAdotCOM When you have a "landscape" mode the Natural Touch program has the animation. For Portrait mode the Natural Touch program doesn't have it. Another alternative is the iPad, which does have the animation in portrait mode.
you videos helps alot ...i just got s10-3t for $424 at ms store. Can you explain more about readyboost. How does it work? why do u need an sd card or jumpdrive?
@DJTEVAdotCOM The easiest way to understand ready boost is to google "Readyboost" and read wikipedia or microsoft's page. For the quickest explanation, readyboost is a way for your system to cache files on to fast chip memory so that you don't have to access your slow hard drive all the time. This way things launch a bit faster. If you have an SSD you don't need readyboost.
So what exactly are you running off the SD. I am not sure I understand exactly. All those apps are installed on your hard drive correct. So what exactly is running off the SD?? I dont understand ready boost :(
@ilanchico Do a search for "readyboost" on google or youtube and you will find lot's more information. To keep it simple readyboost is a way to add memory to a system or "cache" things to the SD card. This is much faster than the normal way of using the slower hard disk drive.
Would I install the windows home update on to the SD card itself??? BTW your videos alone made me purchase this computer. It's getting here in two weeks
@ilanchico You don't install Windows on the SD Card. You install Windows on your normal hard drive and then enable Ready Boost when you insert the SD Card (a menu pops up with different options and Ready Boost is one of them)

@lamchops543 At the time of that video I did NOT have the SSD. If you have an SSD you DON'T need Readyboost. SSDs are plenty fast.

yeah...u would think Microsoft by now would develope a finger gesture friendly version of their windows mobile that can be use in tablets.

@DJTEVAdotCOM The closest thing microsoft has to finger friendly is their zunes hd.

@JesseBAndersen And windows Embedded 7. Don't forget about that!
poopskinTheLiar 1 year ago
@poopskinTheLiar I'm not sure why Embedded 7 is a lot of gigabytes. The installer alone is huge.

@keoni96826 Regular SD card works. The higher the class the faster it will be.
