This is'nt a song. Its random scales and shit mixed with wacky noises. the song holds so many differen time signatures. They dont even sound smooth at all.
Its like dudududududud DUH.......didididadaododododdidi.. dadadadada.
Come on... This might have wel been 7 ''songs'' as it is 1.....
Some of these songs are pretty good and others are a bit 'too much out there'. Just my opinion, not a fact. So many people just spend time arguing about what's good and what's not when it's all just opinions. Everybody's different and has their own taste and shouldn't waste time arguing about things like this. Just listen to the music and if you like it then good, but if you don't then that's ok too.
well, for one thing, there's a major difference in what i play and what i listen to...i have a hide array of genres and different types of things that i like...so, that being said-- i don't need a favorite drummer to understand when music is hard, and when music is just fooling around...it can be a beautiful mess to you "artists", but it is still a mess....and about the 12 stones thing....the music i listen to is as much a wide array as it is different from what i usually play...
i know what time signiture they're in...i'm not stupid, and yes, i am a drummer....i have been for almost seven years now, so don't think for a second that i don't know what i'm talkig about...i see...the point is don't switch time signitures-- it doesn't sound good...i don't know why people think it does...and no, i don't even like slipknot...my favorite drummer isn't even in a popular band at all...so, i guess it doesn't explain your 'so called' ignorance...
You're right...good drummers never change time signatures because it doesn't sound good. I mean, you obviously know what you're talking about - you've played drums for 7 years. I will be promptly getting rid of all my "noise" cds and replacing them with easy-to-digest music that doesn't stray from more than one TS. Geez, I feel like such an idiot....challenging myself with music like this when there is so much better (simpler) stuff to listen to. Any recommendations?
no...it's good to do it, one of my favorite songs is 'so far away' by 12 stones in which they switch from 6/4 to 4/4...it's not the point of the fact that it sounds bad...it's the point that it's the whole song; and after a while, it really just doesn't sound constructed at all...and the real art is making your changes smooth and actually easy to listen to...unlike this....so, i guess my reccomendations would be anything else...
thearctopus: the only "really good drummers" are in bands like... the white stripes, you know?
everyone shifting time signatures has spasms. And metalbands can't make a smooth transition between two different TS. listen to Meshuggah: Epic fail, it sounds soooo uneven
eeualsmcvajeen12 must be right, since his favourite drummer isn't famous.
IMO, Meshuggah's use of polyrythms and stretched out time signatures is some of the most innovative music making that I've heard in a LONG time. Tomas Haake (Meshuggah) is actually one of the smoothest drummers I've ever seen. If you think it sounds uneven, you're not listening to it properly.
I like anything from Sam Loeffler of Chevelle, to John Dolmayan of System of a Down to Brian Vodinh of 10 years, etc...grunge, heavy, alternative; it doesn't matter....fluidity is the key...not enough is just as bad as too much...granted too much is harder; but it doesn't make it better...and yes, you're right, 12 stones isn't "challanging"..but, what is challanging, hmm? do you know?...
Sorry I missed the irony in your last post - lol. DEP used to be one of my favorite bands but I'm not a fan of the pseudo-emo stuff they're doing these days. Car Bomb is very good too. If you like DEP and Meshuggah, check out the band Dismata. Very much in the same vein...
I listened to a few 12 Stones songs and they are not for me. Believe it or not, I prefer to be challenged by the music I listen to. When a band aims to make music that is easy for their listener to absorb it kind of makes me want to vomit. To each their own I guess...
dude, i can't believe you didn't got the irony in my message o0 of course Meshuggah sounds effin smooth! still, I don't think it ALWAYS HAS to be smooth; like you said, sometimes challenging music can be great. I love Dillinger Escape Plan for making unpredictable music. or Car Bomb. but i must admit that you'll need some time to get into this stuff. like in Jazz.
@eequalsmcvajeen12 Windsor sees a band thats not deathcore for a change, thats an accomplishment. Its not drummers fault listen to how tech the guitarist is. Drummer just follows what the guitar players does more or less. Even if he told the guitar player to settle down and not change time every five seconds, play the song with a little more structure he wouldn't listen to him. Guitar players just do there own thing no matter what the drummer says even if it sounds bad they will still jam it.
@dontrickrollme What the Hell are you talking about? Are you suggesting that every rock group thinks that they're death-core? That doesn't make sense.
'It's not drummer. Drummer just follows?'-- "Drummer" is not the name of a person, so why use it in the context of a person? It makes you sound extremely inept. And, are you honestly grouping all guitarists into one intent?
That was one of the most sad excuses for most anything I have seen in a long time. Good job.
@eequalsmcvajeen12 lol I had to cut the text short becuase it was too long and im gonna go ahead and say yes all guitar players are like that. I have jammed with a lot of them and even if they come up with a riff that isn't great or the timing is a little bit off they refuse to listen and jam it anyways. All I was saying is it's not the drummers fault he is simply following what his guitar player made up. As for deathcore Windsor loves it to death and yes pretty much every metalband is deathcore
@dontrickrollme So, you can't go ahead and say that; until you've played with every guitarist; correct? Yes. It is. You can't even hypothesize that 'Most bands are dethcore', because you haven't even heard most bands. That's just stupid to say or think. And, I can't do better; I can do much better. Most musicians can. I've been a drummer for quite some time; I know both about technicality, and non-technicality drumming; I play most every genre- My friend has played guitar since he was in single
@dontrickrollme digits. He is the most apt and talented guitarist I've heard, probably next to Jeff Loomis. He plays everything from percussive guitar to death metal. We know what we're talking about. This is shit.
@eequalsmcvajeen12 dude it sounds like your more brianwashed into KNOWing what sounds good...and that is what i hate most about FUCKING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
@skatinsince97 I'm not brainwashed at all...I listen to everything from Paul Robeson to Divine Heresy to Jefferson Airplane...I know good music in many different genres; and this is shit.
@eequalsmcvajeen12 well i have played music with a lot of different people and ive seen trends come and go...I think every drummer ive ever met acts as if they know everything and i wasnt saying your brainwashed because you listen to jefferson airplane...you said "...the point is don't switch time signitures-- it doesn't sound good"...im saying people should do whatever they want with music
@skatinsince97 And, I'm saying; that's fine with me-- I'm still going to think it sucks when it is done throughout the whole song a million times; so much that there is no structure to the song at all...It gets to a point where when you're listening to it, it just sounds like jumbled notes, of which, anyone could produce, whether they play guitar and bass or not.
The only reason it sounds like noise to you is because you haven't trained your mind to process music like this. It all sounds perfectly clear and constructed to those of us who have.
Who's talking about god? All I'm saying is that there are some people who listen to music with a threshold for musical information that's higher than 4/4, a verse, a bridge, and a chorus. If this sounds "fine" to you, then what are we even arguing about?
Actually, there is no randomness involved. All the songs are actually transcribed in real musical notation and learned afterwards. And as far as not being sure which time signature they are in, you don't know what you're talking about ( and you say you're a drummer?). Any given BTA song jumps from TS to TS faster and smoother than most bands I've seen. Maybe you're some dumb Slipknot fan or something who thinks Joey Jordison is the best drummer ever? That would explain your ignorance...
I get it now don't blame Canada; blame Behold The Sucktopussies...That's it...And all this time we've been blaming canada; eh?!? Well, I've figured it out-- It's not all Canada's fault-- One second of this and you're all fucked up...And as for timing: Well; there's 4/4, 6/4, 5/4...And then comes the Sucktopussies........Who aren't really sure what time signature they want to play in. Imao.
and then come closed minded faggots like you who devote hours of their meaningless lives trolling videos which you can't even come close to understanding. Your mother must be so proud!
@eequalsmcvajeen12 I knew you were American, by the way I was just trolling you I like deathcore and I think this band is actually amazing especially the guitar player. Come on bro lets see you do better. Don't talk shit about Canadian metal either. Listen to Beneath The Massacre and Kataklysm.

This is pushing the edge of songwriting and you are too fucking stupid to realize it. This is Captain Beefheart of our generation.
No writing ability? Fuck your mother. How's that for writing ability?
Skip practice/Random? Sounds exactly like the album so shut the fuck up.
Sounds like shit? Go listen to whatever AIDS-infested cuntsauce you like and get the fuck out of here while I jam to this righteous mindfuck.
