It was offensive cuz u had to kill civilians, and that is the most pathetic thing u can do, when this game came out my cousin came back from the marines, and his brother let him try it and he was tearing on how they can make this game like that, and he's got videos of him and his crew killing terrors in afghan so it was weird for him to cry

but see the problem is that large scale war and it's effects are not a game. it's a way to make real life violence look fun and inconsequential so that kids who play this can grow up and kill people for the government without question.

You actually have to play through the game and follow the story and you'll understand why the american did it and what Makarov was trying to do

Let's make a game where I can crash in a huge tower in New York and kill over 3000 civilians as a terrorist and have it justified that I was under the CIA trying to get information on who and where the person that we know all about who is a dangerous man, even though he's right in front of us and could prevent it by killing him and his co-workers easily and not worry about causing wars, meaningless death, etc... instead help them succeed in their plans and hopefully not get caught.

This causes Russia to invade the U.S. since they believe it was American Terrorist who did it. They do not know it was Russians themselves who caused this. They only caught one guy, and it was the guy who they shot. Since they only caught the American, they believe America attacked them so they invaded us. It is quite an interesting idea.
