They found her and don't own her she just is there on their property....she comes around and they feed her and live her as well as their dog loves her....the videos are so great!
I can't say how terribly bad this is in the conservation societys eyes, which is my current job. But obviously you've gone through the legal actions, and stuff which allows you i'm correct ? I am actually quite a fan and love to see people getting involved in nature when the time is needed. If you could give me more information about when you first got her I would love it ! sorry, it's just my curiosity (:
I recently read grapes are bad for dogs VERY TOXIC will shut down their kidney and wont be able to urinate...Check and see if they are ok for that sweet dear !! =) wonderful videos , I enjoy watching !
Hey Isobel...your videos and presentation of same are gorgeous! Yes, interesting to note about grapes and dogs, however just had to reach out to touch an Islander! Miss that country so much, and also love to connect with critter people. Sure hope all is well with Kate and Pip.
More to say, but not enough characters remaining (had to downsize). You and Martin are doing a wonderful job with the vids and music! Really looking forward to hearing from you.
I can't help but question the wisdom of continuing to allow the deer into your home once it reached maturity. If it becomes sufficiently accustomed to the behavior, it seems entirely predictable that it might wind up in someone else's house; perhaps someone who isn't as accepting of the local wildlife in their living room.
We once had a dog, who loved bananas and apples. She could not get enough of it. She got normal food too, but if anyone of us ate a banana, she sat at the side of the chair and begged ;-).And she liked grapes too.
@lolalexandra She was wandering around the property on her own so I picked her up (she was pretty weak by that time) and brought her in. She only weighed about 5lbs.
Did you need a license to raise her? How did she come to live with you (as a fawn)? How old is she now? Did she live in the house or on your property (i.e. in a pen) as a fawn? Does she know how to forage for food by herself when she's not coming for daily feedings? Does she sleep in the woods? Do you worry about her during hunting season?
@hmj211 Pip was wandering our property alone for 3 days before we took her in and Kate adopted her. She was bottle fed but we've never caged her in any way. She lives in the woods with the wild deer and eats everything they eat. She only comes for treats now that she's 2 years old. We are on a large acreage and so far the hunters have stayed out. Fingers crossed.
@jackiexgrace Pip visits almost every day. We've never kept her contained and she has her wild buddies. They think she's crazy when she comes in the house!
What does the dog like to eat?

Be careful with the grapes, keep them away from Kate dogs can go into renal failure from just a couple of grapes, I dont know about deer though.

Good thing Kate ignored the grapes...grapes can kill dogs.

What a princess! So familiar with the luxury of grapes she daintily pulls them off their bitter stems first. :D
She looks fantastic. Such an incredible story.

Are you not afraid that she has fleas or ticks or other stuff in her fur and so on..?
She is really beautiful though :)

That totally cracked me up when she was eating the banana, not very lady like eating it in one bite. She's like an eating machine.

Wow, that story is precious. How did you end up "taking her in"? Did she willingly come in the house or did you like lure her..?

@lolalexandra Actually yes she does come when called, as long as she's in earshot.
It's pretty funny when we have visitors and she comes bounding out of the bush!
