very nice video. this is one of the best parkour conditioning videos i've seen because it doesn't drag on, there's no showing off and it doesn't need music to keep the viewer interested.
i'd love to live in a place like this :S i mean, the spots are Awsome! sure, i can find places to do some of these kind of thing too, but this makes me drool :P
You have no imagination... You can find a ledge anywhere or a big rock or a block of wood or many little rocks to put in your backpack... You can do all these stuffs with two chairs and ledge. Almost all of it...
Ive got the imagination, Its just that the spots where really nice! :) and besides. its snow here so theres not mutch i can do outside yet, Though as you said, You can almost do it all with two chairs! :)
I've only been able to find a few things to do, but I've been trying to do them every day. (Jumping from wooden posts sticking out of the ground, climbing a fence, ect. ect.)
i used to be into weights but you dont need them to become strong. all you need is a creative outlook on your environment and a good work ethic and desire to get strong.
Some of the exercises in there seemed ridiculous, like crawling backwards up the stairs or that thing on the bike rack. It also seems very disrespectful if those bikes were not yours.
Awesome video man, this gave me a ton of new ideas for conditioning, I'm in the Springs at the moment, but maybe sometime I can go jam with y'all up in Denver =)
Really good video. This kind of conditioning is an important part of parkour training. If I'm ever in Colorado, I'd love to come and train with you. Looks like you've got some good spots there :)
your training is very good, but do you really train this often? There are many things which are good at your video, but i think your knees are under too much stress in some exercices and I like to seperate upper and lower body exercies.
I have terrible achilles flexibility and it is something I have dealt with my whole life. Because of this, I can't do things like squats with strict form. For example, I can't keep my foot flat on the ground in a full squat position. Because of this, my form suffers some but I have found ways to get around it and compensate.
Too much stress on the knees? huh? How so? The human body is an incredible machine. Some people say that running on concrete is too much stress too, but those people are highly uneducated...or misseducated :/ I was just going to comment on your squats too. Achilles flexibility? That's weird. I actually thought I had that in my right foot but I just had to learn to control the muscle through it's full range of motion. Really slow squats help for that.
I also do weighted compound exercises such as power cleans, squats, deadlift, and bench. I don't waste time on silly isolation exercises like bicep curls though.
I did this and people thought I was crazy

So if I wanted to get into Parkour, could I do any of these excersises NOW, or should I wait to get into a BIIIIT better shape?
GalacticKnight 3 years ago
You should exercise no matter what shape you are, just be careful when trying new things. =)
skippyau 3 years ago 5
Most of these exercises can be done by anyone. As you get better and stronger, you can work up to the harder progressions.

Its great when you have such a motivation, but make shure you start slowly and do NOT overtrain yourself.
This happened to me, and I had to stop training for 5 weeks due to an inflammation of some tendons in my shoulder.
But don't worry, just listen to your body ;)

ColoradoParkour 3 years ago
you can become stronger with weights and pylo's
escpecially for the lower body where body weight excercises lack the resistance to improve strength

At the most, I do this training once a week.

As you said in the New Yorker article, most of us will never actually do parkour, but this is what we do and this is what makes us useful.
Good choice to not use music. Reminds me of Naim's training, although with more strength elements.
