  • my friend use to had a cotton tail bunny and it grew big and it passed away

  • @Ashkapashh A bit of advice, should the situation happen again.. Don't keep the room so warm. If you plan on keeping the rabbit indoors and trying to take care of it, it's best off in 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I just got two rabbits the other day. Cat caught one of them, I caught the other. It might just be stress, or it might be the certain few bacteria in your dogs mouth, and the bacteria in my cat's claws, but the one the cat caught died after about a day. Very disappointing.

  • ssssssssssooooooooooooo cute!

  • @Ashkapashh I'm so sorry about the baby cottontail. The mortality rate of these young ones is very high. I hope you will enjoy all of Melvin's (a girl, as it turned out) videos. Thank you for writing!

  • what did you feed him before his eyes opened??!? i need to know!

  • hes so cute

  • hmmm im gessing 3 weeks i dident look but im just gessing XD it still has the white spot so it cant be that old like 4 weeks or somting

  • Sweety what is the formula you fed it made of?? meaning what are the ingredients?? I really need it, because one of my rabbits is not producing enough milk and 2 died due to this!! :(

    PLease help me!

  • i just recently rescued 3 baby cottontails. the first one was stuck in a fence in our yard and we was badly wounded on his stomach so i decided to keep him and try to heal his injury. i named him iHop :) then the next day my sister found another bunny on our front step, and later on she found the third bunny on our back patio. We are pretty sure the mother was either killed or she abandoned them. but anyways, they're about 5 weeks old and all doing great!

  • @bharter18 Actually, for cottontails, that's about the time the mother starts kicking them from the nest. The best time to release them, if you're certain they aren't able to take care of themselves, is after they're five inches in length.

At the moment, I have one sitting on my shoulder and nibbling my hair....

  • This is sooooo sweet :-) .

  • aww my dogs brought back one. we kept it for a while,, then one day i woke up and he was acting wierd.. then he passed away =[

  • my cats just brought in a cottontail just about that big and it lived and now we are caring for it. can you help me? i need to know how to decorate its cage so it feels right at home and how much to feed it and any other important tips for keeping it.

ive done a lot of research and every answer i found is different but you seem to have taken good care of your little survivor =]

  • i have a rabbit named coco. Has anyone heard of litter box training your bunny

  • LIKE OMG THAT IS SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!

  • Could you please share what formula you used? Our dog destroyed a cottontail nest in our yard today killing two of three babies. I have the survivor in a box wrapped in towels, the box on top of a heating pad. I just got him to take a bit of gatorade. I got some goat milk at the store, but I've read they should be rehydrated with pedialyte or gatorade before given formula. Thanks for any info!

  • OMG HOW CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my comment was actually to XxShortStopperxX

he asked what they did wrong? ive tried to rescue animals too. 99.9% fails. without natural mothers it rarly works unless your an expert. nothing wrong with trying.

  • Little Melvin had her 1st birthday last December and still going strong. We devised a formula that worked really well when she was young. So far she has had no medical problems whatsoever. We do realize we are very lucky because the success rate is extremely low in raising these little ones, as you mentioned. Thank you for your comments!

  • I rescued 3 and have them for 4 months. I have 100% success rate on them being A Ok! They became very tame and one watches television with me every night and sleeps on my pillow! I went by my grandfather's journals on raising them instead of cat replacement milk which rehabilitators use that gives them digestion problems and kills them.

  • what did you do wrong???????? baby rabbits need mothers milk for 5-6 weeks minimum. take it away they die. plain and simple. i raise rabbits. 45 babies at the moment. all 3 weeks old. still with moms.

  • Melvin was the lone survivor from a dog attack on the nest. She was an orphan. She surely would have died without intervention as there was no mother for her to stay with. I'm glad I could provide the whole story for you.

  • so cute!!!!!!!!!omg

  • So cute! I have 4 right now! They are awfully young but eating on their own. I hope they live!

  • they are so cute!!!! omg, ok, i rescued a baby cottontail in my moms garden and we took care of him for a week but then he died. we named him blade cuz my moms rodotiller cut his ear. ya, he was adorible!!! we were feeding him goats milk, died in his cage and his eyes were open when we found him. idk wat we did wrong tho.

  • tht bunyy has the best name!

    my name is melvyn too!

  • We named Melvin after my dad. And, as it turned out, Melvin is a "she"! But, she's still Melvin. We did not change it! Thanks so much for your comments.

  • He's sooo cutee!!! AND HE HAS HUGE ADORABLE EYES!!!!!! but one thing...How'd you rescue him...If you took him out of his nest that's not a good thing

  • why does that look like a squirrel in the front lol

  • Very cute I have to wonder what breed she is though since the coloration looks more the kind found on wild bunnies. (not really a rabbit breeder, I just find them cute.)

  • Melvin is a wild cottontail from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. So far, I have 10 videos of her growth if you'd like to watch them. She is now 4 1/2 months old! Thank you for writing.
