Weird how no one has mentioned what he said at 3:10 when he says that North Korea wont bomb any one. North Korea JUST bombed South Korea! I don't think that we should leave South Korea because North Korea has a history of invading South Korea (remember the Korean war?). South Korea being taken over by North Korea will have a negative impact on U.S. exports to South Korea: many U.S. jobs will be lost.
I encourage people to think for themselves and not blindly agree with anyone even Ron Paul.
NO... South Korea fired into a dusputed and North Korea responded and killed those 4.. It was a retaliation for what South Korea did, it is all foreign press but nothing in the United States..
Although china has become more capitalist, their belligerence has increased with their power. They're using their new-found capital to manipulate global markets and their military might to settle long standing territorial disputes. Maybe next it will take Russia's example and invade someone for monopolistic purposes while the whole wold stands by. Pullout the troops, maybe. Start trade and invite them to the China Russia extortionist club, bad idea.
Finally some intelligence... It is true, North Korea has no real intention of using nuclear weapons but uses the threat. Almost all South Koreans have no real fear or belief that North Korea would attack either. And it is true, pulling 27,000 American troops out of South Korea is prudent. If South Korea can't get it's act together to defend itself 60 years after it's war with the North, there is no hope. Let's not worry about pulling out of Iraq, let's pull out of Korea!
there were 4 US Aegis ships, 1 Ticonderoga ship, 3 Arleigh Burke guided-missile destroyers doing one of the greatest joint US-South Korea war game exercises ever near the Cheonan when the incident happened. Supposedly a Nth Korean sub was able to fire a torpedo at the Cheonan undetected. The Cheonan is also equipped with radar & sonar that can detect a torpedo within a 30-km radius.
Im sorry, I consider myself fully in agreement with Mr Paul on many an economic matters, but here we part ways. What happened to internationalism? And where is the progressive perspective? @finchy633 You are a sorry person. You have diluted yourself into believing that America needs to take up every single welfare country? Aren't there enough free-loaders on Welfare & food stamps right here in our Country, the USA? Our USA seniors deserve & have earned respect & NEED free medicine! Step up to the plate. 47% only pay taxes you idiot! Yet you consider this TRIVIAL?
@finchy633 Progressiveness is a perversion! It is just a band-aid that eventually falls off as progressiveness THOUGHTS are ruining my great country, AMERICA! Try this.. " the Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want" PERIOD
Clinton did promise north korea huge benefits if they ended their atomic program, but when G Bush came to power he withraw those promises and therefore kim yong il and north korea felt betraied. Then the atomic program whas up and go again. Sorry about my english
What are you talking about? Bush actually promised more. He took them off the state sponsors of terrorism list. North Korea is trying for Agreed Framework 3. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times, shame on_______?
Just what kind of benefits should North Korea receive? Money? Food? Supervised aid? Guess which one they wont take.
@edavis0780 No no no, Bush ment that it was not possible to deal with N korea but rather with sanctions. Posible that G Bush tried to negociate later but he did the opposite in the beginning and that led to the atomic bomb.
How exactly did clinton help north korea in building a nuclear wepon?? I doubt clinton gave them info on nuclear technoligy, lol. I usually suport ron pauls policy on wars but suporting other free nations is moraly right and not wrong.
@Kikkankleiven Money and aid that was supposed to be used for food. Kim Jong Il fooled two South Korean presidents out of almost $1 billion under the guise of reunification.
AGREED FRAMEWORKS DON'T WORK WHEN YOU'RE DEALING WITH A COUNTRY RUN BY A MORON.
@edavis0780 yes. If US take out troops from south korea now the chances of n orthkorean attack might be reall. I am totaly against wars, but i would somehow support a attack on north korea and kim yong. It is a contry of slaves unlike any others. Diplomacy has not done any good at all.
@But then again maby we should wait untill kim yong dies of old age, he cant have like to many years left. Then maby it would be possible to use some diplomacy.
@Kikkankleiven visit your local Cemetery, or a Soldiers Cemetery this Memorial Day weekend-2010. These soldiers are real hero's who gave their lives for us. All of US! No one likes war, I hate War too, but if I need to fight, dammit, I will for other generations yet to be born. Our fallen hero's died, blood was shed for US. Yet 2 many Americans look at Memorial Day as a 3-day vacation? Visit Rose Crans Cemetery in San Diego, peer out over the Pacific Ocean, you will melt
@HeyTrud I just thought I'd let you know that you're one of the stupidest people I've seen on youtube and I'm absolutely surprised by how a person could be brainwashed into thinking moving forward is a bad thing, I guess people actually listen to idiots like Glenn Beck.
@Godmothisgodmoth its sad that your stupid. It's even worse that you are the product of the corrupt culture. Please go play in the Marines you sissy and grow a set. They will all kick your stupid ass back to hell.
I'm the product of what corrupt culture might I ask? Maybe I should assess your little argument moreso. "Progressiveness is a perversion", wait a second, you don't have an argument, you're just a typical little Glenn Beck fan who reuses things that he states because you're too idiotic to think for yourself and even moreso idiotic that you'd actually listen to him.
Furthermore, I don't even get what your second statement has to do with anything that I've said. You're just a sheep.
@Godmothisgodmoth I LOVE GELN BECK, I LOVE GLEN BECK ... .........I LOVE GOD, I LOVE BILL O'RIELLY, I LOVE SEAN HANNITY, I LOVE FOX NEWS, I LOVE FOX NEWS. GO join the Marines you effing sissy! You'd be toast in one day...
He's right about North Korea as a spoiled child of a nation, and that they would not have nuclear capability if not for our foolish meddling. I think he fails to keep in mind Kim Jong Il's ever-increasing paranoia; that's the wild card, and it's why we need to keep up the carrot-and-stick approach.
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that American people are your friends. It is our government that is beeing controlled by some International group of people. Believe me, we want to get rid of them as well. We dont wantg any war either. You and ua are friends. We need to fight those who wants us fight together. We need to find them and destroy together. North Korea is Not an enemy.
LOL at this guy. Does Comrade Kim Jung Il know that you are on his computer? Go ask him why he starves his people while his fatass sits up in a palace.
great speach, theres so much US people whit good will, this is the voice of the reason for a better world, north korea is a little country whit any resourses, but even then well educated, and fighting against imperialismus of the burguesie of the US which is not the working class.
I hope you run for president in 2012. And you stay in the race till the end. You are the voice of the people. You are the voice of reason. We need you. If you cant get Ventura, Kucinich, or Stanhope to run with you, I will.
I think all of us agree with Ron. I really feel sad he does not have the media resource to rally more votes. After all majority of us were VACCINED, and POLLUTED by TV tube culture, brainwashed, and all the truths were isolated into a tiny weak voice, called conspiracy theory. Democracy monitized, unless we get more money, we could not change this fact...
N.Korea is one of 5 countries that remain WITHOUT a Rothschild central bank controlling the country. The elite have no problems dropping nukes in a WW3 in order to gain more power. They control China, Russia, Britain & America via central bank. America via Federal Reserve. They want to depopulate the earth by 90%. Dont let WW3 or a nuke attack, another STAGED attack or war happen again like all the other manufactured wars/attacks, 9/11, WW1 & 2, etc.
Everything he said I said way back when everyone who was brainwashed by propaganda about N koreas so called "nuclear attack" thought N korea was pure evil when its really our government. I am tired of this corrupt government. Havent the american ppl suffer enough from this governments greed?? I am since long time ago.
I dont think anyone would disagree that the US govs policy with NK has been absolutely retarded. Kim Jong Il is a prick though, I would even say evil. I dont think we need to police him, or make empty threats, but I also dont think we can deny that his regime is out of control.
If they cant feed them selves, have a rich and prosperous nation that they are technoloy still at war with to the south and have only one true national industry of warfare I would say keep Marines there as a stick, while using a less nonsense carrot in a form of economic incentives that favor both the United States and NPRK.
This would help them become less war like, create industry there that would produce goods we would want to buy, and people wealthy enough in North Korea to buy the goods the American people want to make and feel safe enough selling
as for china's presence in the korean war... you say they were trained to fight the u.s. well, broadly speaking, yes they were. but more aptly, they were trained to halt u.s. expansion. they were not trying to invade. there's a big difference. imagine if china was advancing through mexico to the border and had a history of trying to meddle in u.s. political and economic affairs. the u.s. would line the border with troops. hell, many want to now, and it's only mexicans trying to get in...
you're right... it is not necessarily where we have the presence that causes the conflict. the u.s. does not have bases in north korea... but in south korea, and they keep a watch on north korea and have since the war. they would have no reason to act radically if the u.s. did not have a military surveillance over their country trying to contain their every move. as for germany, italy, and japan... that was the axis. they were defeated in ww2 and had no choice but to comply with the u.s.
if it weren't for the continued u.s. presence on the peninsula following the korean war, the north would likely have not reacted so radically and certainly would not have become so anti-u.s.
and yes you are correct that china aided north korea in the korean war, but only after a u.s. soldier shot a chinese guard by the yalu river. the u.s. had no business fighting that war. the north was not as radical at the time but became more so as their enemy remained on the island to "contain" them.
perhaps... the way i see it, the current regime in north korea is a product of america's imperial interventionism. the u.s. has no good reason to be there. the best thing to do is to get out and let them settle their differences.
Vi love northkorea, they have the guts to tell the truth about the US GAY, the biggest warcriminal in history, when are they going to bomb them so that we can live in peace without these massmurderers
The US needs to declare, "we are no longer helping anyone outside the US with funding and arent gonna be policing the world anymore". Let the neighbors of all these countries deal with the fact they have nukes. Youd see alot more action on the part of these countries who dont do a thing now because we help them. Protect the US, thats it!!!
Please consider what you see and hear on the media with a grain of salt. Most S. Koreans didn't care. The media shows people what the New World Order wants us to believe. Their objective is to create fear and distrust to build a military-industrial complex. N. Koreans are playing cat and mouse. They have nothing remotely close to what S. Koreans have, in terms of weapons. The North Koreans pose no threat to the US. Dr. Paul is exactly right. Are we now planning to go into another war? Wake up.
Trade with North Korea? With what? Isn't the US primarily a 'consumption country'? About 80% of our goods are imported, so what exactly could we trade with North Korea?
I half-agree with Dr. Paul on this. We shouldn't have allowed it in the first place. However, I personally don't think trading will do anything beneficial to the situation. Like he said; North Korea is like a spoiled child. It's quite the possibility that they'll be ornery no matter what the circumstances.
South Korea has 50 times the GDP of the North and a few million soldiers in reserve.
Also modern warfare is not about attacking én masse but about air superiority and technology (such as tanks, JDAM, attack helicopters etc.). Soviets had 4000 ICBM's and equally despotic leaders, yet nobody had to attack them, they fall apart themselves.
I don't think USA has any obligation to defend South Korea or any other nation (assuming it weren't in Nato). Trade instead of war like with Vietnam todays.
RON PAUL is so right. Leave Korea to the Koreans. The US needs to just get out of the way, so they can come together. Let's bring all of our troops back home, and not worry about all of blow-back and foreign terrorists. Go RON PAUL! I pray he'll run in 2012 and win it this time...
I've heard some people say that Barack Obama has done more for America in the First Hundred than bush did in eight years, but I just hope they see that all Obama is going to do is increase taxes. HOpefully he doesn't win the 2012 election. Then maybe Ron Paul could make it as president.
Hopefully we're still capitalists by the next election.

Sole Paragraph. The Federative Republic of Brazil seek to integrate economic, political, social and cultural development of the peoples of Latin America, to the formation of a Latin American community of nations."
The consequencies are that the military budgets of the countries are ridiculous low.
Brazil is the hegemonic power of South America despite of that we had an unique major conflic: the Paraguai war between 1864 and 1870 , also known as Triple Aliance War. That war was triggerde when Solano Lopes invaded Brazil. Since than we had small participation on WW 1 and 2. I think South America is the most peacefull continent in the world. Why??? Because the hegemonic power (Brazil) is a peacefull cristian country. The minor coutries are desestimulated to imperilaistc ambitions.
figures that the one who uses mind over matter couldn't be the president. i love this man. i keep getting distracted by the books changing color in the background
Why the fuck is he proposing to trade with North Korea? Does he have any fucking idea how horrible that government is to its people? Trading with them will only make the people suffer more. We need to keep some of our dignity.
that government is about on par with the current american government as far as the treatment of it's people. i am an american and i have watched our governement become increasingly totalitarian and tyrannical through my life time. they keep up the same old rhetoric but it is just propaganda. look at obama's healthcare ideas. they are exactly the same as the useless eater policy in nazi germany.
i've noticed the shift too, big time. hard to explain to kids but i try to point out the major changes in education, shocking really. that's where i see it the most, and i have continuously sought out the best schools i can find. it's just horrible. i'm actually afraid to look up Obama's ideas.
apparently you have not studied the manner in which they went from being an open and democratic society to being a totalitarian state under martial law.

naomi wolf has done the research and shows how the process is well underway in the us.
In the United States, unlike in the post WW I nation of Germany , we have political safeguards that prevent giving our President unlimited power and an extended term length. Germany on the other hand, had no such safeguards in place. The only way the US could peacefully become a dictatorship is if a constitutional amendment was voted in that allowed this to happen. Because of our long tradition of a Republic no citizens would allow such an amendment to pass.
that was the case but over the years there have been various presidential directives. nspd 51 already gives the president to declare a state of emergency and take full dictatorial powers over federal and state governments, tribal governments and even private corporations. the council on foreign relations has been slowly centralizing power into the executive office.
NSPD 51 however, requires something along the lines of an emergency so great it threatens the very being of the United States. Almost all of Presidential-created orders do have minor checks in them that prevent Presidents from simply taking or abusing power. It would also be very hard for a President to simply create an event that seemed to show certain doom for the United States. Another large attack like 9/11 for example, would not be grounds for a President to use this power.
"Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;
that is taken from the document. language is very vague and something like katrina or 9-11 could definitely be used.

I assumed those certain situations because those were the logical situations that would match to the argument. I'm surprised that your argument for nazis being in the majority and being shot is because the Red army shot them. I honestly thought we were having an intellectual discussion, but I guess not. Stalin wasn't his real name either, btw. But really, armies kill armies (its their job), but that's not the discussion. So yes, I am surprised.
They don't match the argument of what Voltiaire said and that's what the topic was. You gotta remember the original point in order to avoid talking in circles. The point is that the majority has been proven to be the wrong place to be in history. At one point the majority thought the world was flat...hence Voltaire's statement. Stalin's real name was known and not hidden like Trotsky's. There's a difference.
Tell that to the all the NaZi's who were in the "majority" of Germany in WWII...and tell that to all the communists that were in the majority in WWII who got shot up...and their predecessors who got murdered during the purges...
Not correct! The nazis who got shot up by other Nazis were nazis who were moving away from the majority nazi cause. The communists who got shot CLEARLY were people who strayed away from the cause (there was always a fear that the man who stopped clapping for Stalin first would be shot). The people who were shot up in the purges were shot up when they were no longer in the majority (Trotsky for instance was in the common cause until he started moving away from it, guess what, he was shot up).
I wasn't talking about NaZi's who got shot by other NaZi's. You assumed that. In the beginning the NaZi's were in the "majority" and did all the killing...until the bombers and Red army showed up.
No, the communists who got shot were loyal communists fed into the meat grinder of Soviet massed charges...purges and more. That's why they were scared to stop clapping. Trotsky wasn't Even his real name. He was eliminated because Stalin was no fool...Nice try though...
Dr. Paul, I've heard you talk about this topic under different context many times but I always get excited even still. Your views are make so much sence and are yet simple. Thank you for what you do!
War destroys accumulated capital (we should understand this by now!). ... Complications should not divert us from recognizing the basic truth that the wanton destruction of anything of real value is always a net loss, a misfortune, or a disaster, and whatever the offsetting considerations in a particular instance, can never be, on net balance, a boon or a blessing.
For a while not much US foreign policy has made much sense. Our "involvements" are often self defeating and promote and perpetuate many conflicts.
Please support HR 1207, The Federal Transparency Act! Our congressmen have the right and responsibility! Our own CONGRESSMEN can't even know how the money is spent! We need TRANSPARENCY!!!!!!!!
Federal Reserve intends to hire lobbyists soon (ie. Linda Robertson) in their self preservation, to keep the status quo, to prevent government accountability. They would like important decisions to be made by unelected private organizations in mystery.
Please help speak out
Campaign for liberty stands for a true cause, not special interest. Not government chosen bureaucracy.
North Korea is China's problem. It's Japan's problem. It's South Korea's problem. It's not our problem. Libs and Neocons, find someone else's taxpayers to fund your foreign adventures, whether it's the Middle Eastern desert or the jungles of Asia. We can't afford it, we have far more important problems to worry about, and the future of this great country deserves to pay for its own problems, NOT FOR OURS.
Living in South Korea definitely convinced me that the USA is not doing that nation any good by acting for them and thinking for them. Both of those nations behave like spoiled children; besides, younger Koreans want Americans gone, and the US cannot afford to maintain its presence there. South Korea has food and other forms of leverage; it's time for a man to keep his own house in order.
Dr. Paul, thanks for having common sense. The same type of people who are overly alarmed by North Korea are the same ones are against bringing detainees from Cuba to the US. It's like they're assigning some superhuman qualities to these people. They'll be in a cell here instead of Cuba....and the military-FBI-CIA-NSA-etc can't handle it???? Run for your lives!!!!
Ron Paul is right that the U.S. dollar will collapse and Americans must prepare for hyperinflation or go broke. Signup for the free National Inflation Association newsletter at: Inflation . us
On this issue Dr. Paul is 100 percent correct. Our century long plus expansion of military garrisoning all over the world has created thousands of bases and drained tremendous amounts of money away from America. We need to focus on exporting our true values and not our armies. We are only creating more enemies, and betraying our true ideals.
The current 2 party system is a perfect example of only rewarding people who want the status quo, who agree on many issues that are assumed, both parties for the most part simply increase the national debt for partisan interests. Ron Paul is a true American, who is pragmatic, sees real changes needed in the US, speaks the truth, not just appeases. Ron Paul loves all foreign nations, and feels all deserve equal rights and treatments. All deserve sovereignty. To protect US, to balance budget.
The internet is a very good example of how freedom is desirable. The idea of freedom of information networked, it was started by scientists who shared information so they could cross reference, share and research their information/tests/findings.

@edavis0780 No no no, Bush ment that it was not possible to deal with N korea but rather with sanctions. Posible that G Bush tried to negociate later but he did the opposite in the beginning and that led to the atomic bomb.

They control China, Russia, Britain & America via central bank. America via Federal Reserve. They want to depopulate the earth by 90%. Dont let WW3 or a nuke attack, another STAGED attack or war happen again like all the other manufactured wars/attacks, 9/11, WW1 & 2, etc.

as for china's presence in the korean war... you say they were trained to fight the u.s. well, broadly speaking, yes they were. but more aptly, they were trained to halt u.s. expansion. they were not trying to invade. there's a big difference. imagine if china was advancing through mexico to the border and had a history of trying to meddle in u.s. political and economic affairs. the u.s. would line the border with troops. hell, many want to now, and it's only mexicans trying to get in...
drvn8 2 years ago
you're right... it is not necessarily where we have the presence that causes the conflict. the u.s. does not have bases in north korea... but in south korea, and they keep a watch on north korea and have since the war. they would have no reason to act radically if the u.s. did not have a military surveillance over their country trying to contain their every move. as for germany, italy, and japan... that was the axis. they were defeated in ww2 and had no choice but to comply with the u.s.
drvn8 2 years ago
look up the 38th parallel =)
erizoe 2 years ago
if it weren't for the continued u.s. presence on the peninsula following the korean war, the north would likely have not reacted so radically and certainly would not have become so anti-u.s.
and yes you are correct that china aided north korea in the korean war, but only after a u.s. soldier shot a chinese guard by the yalu river. the u.s. had no business fighting that war. the north was not as radical at the time but became more so as their enemy remained on the island to "contain" them.
drvn8 2 years ago
perhaps... the way i see it, the current regime in north korea is a product of america's imperial interventionism. the u.s. has no good reason to be there. the best thing to do is to get out and let them settle their differences.
drvn8 2 years ago
if the u.s. were to pull out of south korea and the north decides to invade, do you think china and japan would stand by and let that happen?

Just my two cents.

That war was triggerde when Solano Lopes invaded Brazil. Since than we had small participation on WW 1 and 2. I think South America is the most peacefull continent in the world. Why??? Because the hegemonic power (Brazil) is a peacefull cristian country. The minor coutries are desestimulated to imperilaistc ambitions.

kroznot 2 years ago
In the United States, unlike in the post WW I nation of Germany , we have political safeguards that prevent giving our President unlimited power and an extended term length. Germany on the other hand, had no such safeguards in place. The only way the US could peacefully become a dictatorship is if a constitutional amendment was voted in that allowed this to happen. Because of our long tradition of a Republic no citizens would allow such an amendment to pass.
Jurassicparkz08 2 years ago
that was the case but over the years there have been various presidential directives. nspd 51 already gives the president to declare a state of emergency and take full dictatorial powers over federal and state governments, tribal governments and even private corporations. the council on foreign relations has been slowly centralizing power into the executive office.
kroznot 2 years ago
NSPD 51 however, requires something along the lines of an emergency so great it threatens the very being of the United States. Almost all of Presidential-created orders do have minor checks in them that prevent Presidents from simply taking or abusing power. It would also be very hard for a President to simply create an event that seemed to show certain doom for the United States. Another large attack like 9/11 for example, would not be grounds for a President to use this power.
Jurassicparkz08 2 years ago
"Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;
that is taken from the document. language is very vague and something like katrina or 9-11 could definitely be used.

You act surprised...
LiChoiFungfan 2 years ago
I assumed those certain situations because those were the logical situations that would match to the argument. I'm surprised that your argument for nazis being in the majority and being shot is because the Red army shot them. I honestly thought we were having an intellectual discussion, but I guess not. Stalin wasn't his real name either, btw. But really, armies kill armies (its their job), but that's not the discussion. So yes, I am surprised.
jazzmangiant 2 years ago
They don't match the argument of what Voltiaire said and that's what the topic was. You gotta remember the original point in order to avoid talking in circles. The point is that the majority has been proven to be the wrong place to be in history. At one point the majority thought the world was flat...hence Voltaire's statement. Stalin's real name was known and not hidden like Trotsky's. There's a difference.
LiChoiFungfan 2 years ago
Haha this is why he doesn't get any real support for presidency. Ron Paul is an idiot.
jazzmangiant 2 years ago
Good...as Voltaire once said...once you find yourself in aggreance with the majority, it's time to sit and reflect...
LiChoiFungfan 2 years ago
Yeah well Voltaire is an idiot as well. Because once you are in the majority, you chances of getting shot are much lower.
jazzmangiant 2 years ago
Tell that to the all the NaZi's who were in the "majority" of Germany in WWII...and tell that to all the communists that were in the majority in WWII who got shot up...and their predecessors who got murdered during the purges...
LiChoiFungfan 2 years ago
Not correct! The nazis who got shot up by other Nazis were nazis who were moving away from the majority nazi cause. The communists who got shot CLEARLY were people who strayed away from the cause (there was always a fear that the man who stopped clapping for Stalin first would be shot). The people who were shot up in the purges were shot up when they were no longer in the majority (Trotsky for instance was in the common cause until he started moving away from it, guess what, he was shot up).
jazzmangiant 2 years ago
I wasn't talking about NaZi's who got shot by other NaZi's. You assumed that. In the beginning the NaZi's were in the "majority" and did all the killing...until the bombers and Red army showed up.
No, the communists who got shot were loyal communists fed into the meat grinder of Soviet massed charges...purges and more. That's why they were scared to stop clapping. Trotsky wasn't Even his real name. He was eliminated because Stalin was no fool...Nice try though...
LiChoiFungfan 2 years ago
Dr. Paul, I've heard you talk about this topic under different context many times but I always get excited even still. Your views are make so much sence and are yet simple. Thank you for what you do!
