  • As soon as I heard Ray's arrangement (when it was first released), I knew I would never again enjoy the Johnny Mathis version.

  • I just love any song that Ray Stevens sings. I wish they had the Grand Ole Opry on a television station. I am a 84 year old widow and I love country music and see the performers. So please some one start a television station that we all can see the wonderful country music shows on a lonely day or night.

  • that has got to be one of the hardest steel breaks to play next to connie smith's i'll come runnin'.........Robert Rogers

  • I loved this. I love that song, too. I didn't know about his Grammy, but he sure deserved one.

  • i love that pedal steel & the banjo!

  • One thing I don't quite understand is why Ray re-recorded everything? What was wrong with the originals?

  • @nyshortline

I'm with you on that one. The original (cover) version of Misty was lovely.

  • I grew up on the original blues / jazz version from my dad & this country version from mom. Love them both! (I'm also a big Ray Stevens fan)

  • Ray Stevens got a well deserved Grammy for his arrangement of this song.

  • Needs more cowbell

  • Most of his stuff was just silly comedy, but there are a few great ones like this. Bless him.
