  • sometimes it is NOT about "fear of death" it is about chosing not to live in pain and causing your loved ones to suffer emotionally and mentally with your pain. They would be able to deal much easier with your release from pain.

  • Assisted suicide should be legal everywhere in the world. People who don't support it think they may never get a terminal disease, and they probably haven't had a close relative experience one. If I knew I'd get to a point where pain is unbearable, that I have to wear a diaper and depend on somebody to do everything for me, I'd rather die with dignity.

  • @jllobet You wore a diaper as a little child. Do you think someone should have killed you then? These type of comments show just how far from God our society has gone. Whatever happened to loving someone regardless of the pain it may cause? I would not want to see my family member suffer but I would not want to be involved in killing them either!

  • @myuserid1969 You would not be "killing" them, you would only be assisting them in releasing their spirit from their painful physical body

  • the start of "suicide booth" from futurama

  • It makes me sick that assisted suicide is not legal in the UK. The choice is simple. Do you want to be happy and peaceful, or do you want to be suffering. I am going to live my life supporting assisted suicide and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

  • I support assisted suicide.

  • Death is part of life, and i have a right to life. Understand?

  • @rizzzla

WORLDWIDE DEPOPULATION is the answer to all of humankind's problems, that's why I support the right to premature death for everyone.

  • @HardlineAthiest Yes, it is sad, but the truth. Right now, there is 7 billion people. By 2050, there is to be 10 billion. I don't want to live much longer. I definitely don't want to live into my 70s. People just live too long.

  • @JayGatsbyOdysseus

Finally somebody with intelligence! You and I must expire asap to make room for fifty other human parasites who will take our place.

For every 2 people alive, there are 50 more needing our spots, but how does that work?

Is there possibly enough room on this planet for 50 more leeches to take the resources only 2 are using now?

The reality is, the global population must be utterly decimated, wiped-out, Earth can only sustain 1/10th the population we have now.

  • @HardlineAthiest The models that I have seen is the world population will peak in 2050. This is when there will be 10 billion. Then, population will decrease slowly, a billion less every 20 years because the replacement rate of 2.1 children per female will be below at 1.8. Still, how will the Earth support all these people for so many years? I don't think it is possible. We are to reach peak oil in the next 5 years. Then, we will be running out of oil. The future is sad, proven by math.

  • This video brought me peace knowing he is finally free of all his suffering and he didn't have to die a painful drawn out death. =) rip

  • Lol i actually remembered seeing this on a shock site and i remembered how sad everybody was :(

  • I'm on the sad part of Youtube again >_>

  • Suicide is painless

  • @ArkiveX It brings on many changes...

  • I agree with @ChaosDynamics, there is something odd about this. Maybe it's a cultural difference? Perhaps it was the way the video was edited? I would like to see 'How to Die in Oregon', a documentary that at least follows people for a long time.

  • @sourabhsh111 maybe you'd have more friends IF YOU DIDN'T SHOUT ALL THE TIME!!!

  • A brave man.

  • @LorentParis19 Espera a que te de una enfermedad bien mala a ver si piensas igual so hija de puta!

  • Would he allow his dog to be in extreme pain and suffering to continue to live, or would he put his dog to sleep as an act of compassion?

  • Dieing to Beethoven's 9th... when he fell asleep before he died, he must have had good dreams because of the music and people who loved him.

  • Free euthanasia for anyone that wants it is the most important individual right! Any other human right pales in comparison to the importance of deciding for oneself when to call it a day! All those christians and the like that actively keep the current laws as they are deserve to one day live through all that horror that they're forcing millions of others to experience!

  • god damn dude.

    i'm in tears

  • death is something that everyone got to pass through, so why not die in a peaceful and painless way instead of die for a sickness that make you suffer every single day?

  • Some say, active euthanasia doesnt deserve as a measure in respect of humanity in any case. But I think sometimes removing pain is more important than lives....

  • No se si su mujer lo amaba tanto y lo hiso para que no sufriera, pero yo hubiera preferido estar con el hasta su ultimo momento de vida, con una muerte natural, y no asistida.

  • if youre gona die, die with ur fuckin dignity.

  • Death is not bad, our view of death in life is, people need to overcome this fallacy when arguing about the subject of assisted suicide. If death means a release from unnecessary pain that won't achieve anything, then it is the more ethical option if that is what you choose.

Life = negative & positive feelings

Death = neutral feelings (no feelings)

So if its a life of extreme negativity, then death should be an option yet its not ethical to make the decision quickly as you may change your mind

  • @xcolbourne AND animals are served on dinner plates but that doesn't make that right either.

  • @someonelostin100 Since YOU mentioned God, I'll reply to your statement. God does say that we should not cause someone else to stumble (ie. NOR commit their own murder). So those assisting to kill someone, even if the person asks for death, those helping are guilty of the same sin of murder.

  • @superbooks7 God doesn't exist, you idiot? American, I presume?

  • @MarinusCopy Thank God we Americans believe in God. He is our protection or could you not tell that!?

  • @acsial Well said!! "they do not have the right to get someone to do their dirty work. Assisted suicide and suicide will never ever be an acceptable method of pain relief.

  • All the UK arguments against assisted dying are about the fear of compulsion creeping in. A terminally ill or severely dependent person may be caused to feel "obliged" to opt for death. But what is happeneing now, is that those who want to end their lives are being compelled to suffer. As for the so called Christian arguments, what about compassion and love. Ending a life might in extreme circumstances be the most loving thing to do. We don't use the same arguments in law to oppose abortion

  • @userunknozn That's right that is YOUR motto. However, the fact remains that it is not acceptable to use DEATH, murder, or assisted murder as a method of stopping pain, not ever.

  • life is life no matter in what shape it is. I salute Britain for declaring it illegal. Hats off to your justice system and sagaciousness (to-date)

  • @crackingguy123 That is correct. Life is life. Life is life without pain and life is life with pain. And murder is murder and assisted suicide is murder.

  • have you seen a loved one deteriorate from a terminal illness and eventually die.. after they have experanced huge amounts of pain, felt like a burden to there familys and literaly have no self esteem left? if not, dont judge. it should be every human beings choice.

  • @daytura4

the fact that u just say that ''felt like a burden to there familys'' without even commenting it urself and let it pass as if it is really true from the part of the which family and not the perception of a man in pain and suffering who sees the world only from this twisted lense makes me wonder......better pass some judgement on urself.i ll skip

  • @daytura4 i have. my grandmother had ALS. It's fucking horrible. She begged to die but her son (my uncle) refused to let her. He kept hooking up to more and more tubes until she no longer had enough muscle to breathe.

  • @Aro2220 I don't agree with hooking people up to machines especially if the machine is breathing for them. If they can't breathe on their own it is time to let them go. I have told my family that about me but I need a living will to make sure it is followed.

  • Just because someone asks you or even begs you to kill them or help them kill themselves, that does not make the action right and it does not make the action (of MURDER) humane either. Millions and millions of people "suffer" and lots have extreme suffering in life, we can not allow handfuls of bureaucrats convince us that murder is anything less than murder.

  • @superbooks7 maybe if someday you happen to be in terrible pain you might be the 1st one to ask for death. Never say never, that's my motto.

  • @superbooks7 If I choose to end my horrendous suffering, who has the right to refuse me that, and to condemn me to continue with weeks or months of torture? Where are my human rights? Where is compassion and love? Where is basic human decency? Don't you dare say it's God - Jesus - Aquinas - Paul etc. Because that is indefensible

  • @anniemaggie53 You don't read too well. YOU are the one mentioning God , Jesus and Aquinas --not anyone else. What I sad is Murder , assisted suicide, is NOT an acceptable method of the relief of pain. Plain and simple murder is not acceptable for relieving ANYONE's pain. I'll not respond to you again maggie since you obviously do not read but rather just write what you want to write.

  • @superbooks7 "The taking of a life-whether that be of someone else or of your own, is against nature, against God". Seems you forgot what you said. However I don't insult people I know nothing about just because they have a different opinion to me. I don't think we can judge the autonomous choices of others, and condemn a small minority of people to suffering when they choose to end it.

  • my mum recently ended her life, by choice, on her terms.. she was in constant pain, no quality of life, only to get worse and worse... it should be every humans right, i will fight for this cause.. my mum was forced to die alone.. it shouldnt be that way. our choice! oxoxox

  • how the hell did I get here .. :(

  • good on the man he didnt want to hurt his family so he went out like a man and did the right thing to help his family

  • Coward

  • 5. Suicide, assisted suicide or murder are NOT acceptable methods of relieving pain. None of the people want to die, they just want relief of pain. Killing someone or helping someone kill themselves is not an acceptable method of relieving pain.

  • @superbooks7 We all have our own autonomy to choose what we want to do with our own body. Human suffering is not acceptable either. If you don't make your dog have to suffer, you shouldn't make your loved one suffer either.

  • wake up.. we are ALL going to die at some stage! reason for death? BIRTH!! comment again when your old and suffering....

  • Assisted suicide is wrong. First -it's a contradiction-- if it is "assisted" then it is not suicide. 2. There are millions of people who have "attempted" suicide on our globe --that are living happy, prosperous lives now - "what if" someone assisted them -in their lowest moods -to commit suicide. It is murder not suicide. 3. The taking of a life-whether that be of someone else or of your own, is against nature, against God. 4. Millions of people live with pain and suffer every day. Contd'

  • @superbooks7 i totally agree with you, well said my friend, what these people are doing MAY look like it's the right thing to do, but it's not.

  • "Natural death is nothing to fear" How can you say that you FAT FUCK!

To "die" is not the problem, it's the suffering and the pain that he does not want to live with. Let me ask you this question, are you going to go around to the house and help with Graigs wife helping with the cleaning and washing him? You should shut your mouth because there is just to much bullshit coming out of it.

My heart goes out to the family, God has him in his care.

  • This brought tears to my eyes. Why is this not legal in the entire developed world?? We are more merciful to animals.

  • NOOOO! not thirty minutes! few seconds....only few seconds.

  • "A natural death is nothing to fear!"

    REALLYY ??

Clearly, you haven't been in this position, so it gives him NO right to say something liek that.

    Stupid 8-)

  • @Sweetlove7794 i second that! dont judge till you have been in the possition or seen it first hand oxox

  • agh that's fucken sad

  • @Slotten68 /watch?v=MeSSwKffj9o&feature=colike

  • @lagginlikeacripple Yeah I'm also a fan of the late, great George Carlin. I'm no religous nut, my comment was meant to be ironic in that perhaps the people who are so against euthenasia are the ones who profit big time off of keeping it illegal (or as they say, immoral).

I'm a big believer in the establishment clause of the 1st Amendment (Gov shall not establish a state religion) and the equal protection clause of the 14th (equal protection under the law). Religion has no place in politics

  • @Slotten68 fuck your god and all his followers. you are all brainwashed and believe in utter shite.

  • @Jfair100 Perhaps you and others didn't understand my ironic comment. I'm no religous nut...I was just saying that perhaps the people who are so crazy against euthenasia are also some of the same people who profit the most from keeping people alive. What a lot of folks dont see is the machines/meds that are used to keep people alive aren't cheap and these huge healthcare corperations have SIGNIFICANT political influence. Any true God would understand this

When we die, nobody can profit off us

  • I'm bawling my eyes out.

  • This video, made me cry. Amazingly not out of sorrow for him losing his life. But when he said him and his family would suffer before he dies. I'm sure his family loves him with all their heart, but I have almost no doubt that sometimes they wish he was not paralyzed, I wonder if his family has come to terms with his death, and would rather have him there paralyzed (although suffering), or stop his suffering and his life.

  • what a brave man

  • I'm in favour of this but..... A guitarist called Jason Becker has ALS x1000 worse and he chooses to live and create awesome music.

It must be hell for him but dam he's trying.

  • "natural death is nothing to fear" so says the healthy asshole.

  • @DutchHaggis

I'd like to add that it was most likely not only the natural death he was trying to escape but also the sickness which is keeping him from living a life.

  • Comment removed

  • @DutchHaggis Exactly. Even if the Natural Death is "nothing to be feared" aren't the days, months, even years leading up to it to be feared. If they can be eliminated why not? If the persons illness is non curable and they're in misery daily why must they endure it to the bitter end. Because some ass hat waving a Bible says they must.

  • @scumgod13

Yeah, FUCK RELIGION! We have the right to die and the right to kill whomever we want.

  • I like how the doctor against it says, "The vast majority of patients, and the evidence supports this, with motor neuron disease do not have a choking, unpleasant, suffocating death." So he asked every patient that DIED how it felt when they died? Or even the last few days before they died?

  • @davidjoones swallowing saliva is something we do naturally without conscious thought

with MND the patient has no way to get rid of it. Thin saliva runs down the back of the throat and into the lungs and the thicker strands lodge in the throat blocking airways. Imagine your tongue lying dead in your mouth and you can't talk- eat -swallow-spit or even cough, the only way to clear your airway is to do it manually by sticking your fingers down your throught and pull it out while almost vomiting.

  • @davidjoones Now imagine doing this 16 hours a day for the next 3 years! The choking and suffering doesn't begin at the end of the persons life with MND it's an every day event, then when it spreads to the lungs they stop expanding then you suffocate to death. There are many other painful aspects of this disease and there are different types of MND. Their suffering is a constant every day struggle and the only thing worse than having MND is watching someone you love suffer and die with it.

  • If you watch the whole documentary of this man choosing PAS, he explains how he read that MOST sufferers of his disease die peacfully and that he was afraid he'd end up the SOME that suffer for a long time before dying. So what this doctor says angers me.

  • i want to embed this video for a presentation. How come I can't?

  • I hate people like the doctor who is against people choosing to end their life/suffering. Who the hell does he think he is? It's easy to pass judgement when you're not the person suffering constantly! Most Md's LOVE to ramble on about their facts and %'s. It flatters their know it all egos. Wait till they don't have their health and suffer 24/7. They'll change their tune then. Don't bring religion into it either, it's fable NOT FACT like what that poor dude was going through!

  • There is no question that someone has the right to die on their own terms. Denying someone that right is the real crime.

  • This may be stupid question but I am curious: I someone wants to die voluntarily, why spends so much time and money to go all the way to Switzerland? I mean, there are so many ways and tool we can find at home to die peacefully. More simple, no bureaucracy and paperworks too. And he/she can donate the money to the poor.

  • @octykucayank Because it is illegal to do this in the US and there are failed suicide attempts all the time. This is a way to ensure death and legally protect the people helping you end your life.

  • HER ŞEY ALLAHTAN GELİR SABRETMEK LAZIM KARŞILIĞINI ALLAH VERİR CAHİL ADAM SONDUZA KADAR CEHENNEMDE YANACAKSIN OKEY

  • why would they go through with it if they were going to die a natural death ? stupid doctor & 2:40

  • Give them morphine, put them to sleep, but do NOT kill them. Let nature kill them, all humans need concern themself with is that they are comfortable and not suffering.

  • @LoneRookRS1 So keep them constantly drugged so they're mentally dead till they physically die? that'll never get passed. It'll drag on the issue for those left behind having to wonder if they'll die, and probably cost tax payers and/or individuals immense amounts. If they want to die; let them. They're not killing them. They're letting them ease their own suffering.

  • @PressXtonotdie I don't believe it is morally justified to assist someone to die, especially when they can be kept in a unconcious or comatose state. Otherwise you run the risk of coercion and bias when making the decisions.

  • @LoneRookRS1 Ultimately; it's their choice. How can you say it's morally unjustifiable to assist someone to die when it is their choice. A fundamental human right is the right to self determination. No one owns your life but you.

  • @LoneRookRS1 PAS is the option people consider once they realize medicine cannot comfort or end suffering for them.

  • there is something so beautiful and yet sad about this...its a real eye opener and I really believe deep down that people should have the right/choice to die...its really not fair to make someone suffer in their last days because there is a chance that a cure might be found for what u have...its just NOT right...

~my grandfather had a stroke and suffered quite alot of pain and mental stress following in the hospital and care home...he had trouble breathing, he died this year, in the night.

  • im doing my capstone on this

  • its his choice. no opinion on this matter. u live ur own life. and u can take it away on your own as well.

  • My dad died of motor neurons disease almost 3 years ago. WATCHING HIM SUFFER WAS FAR WORSE THAN HIM ACTUALLY DIE. I think that everyone should be able to have the right to live or die especially when the person has a disease in which they will suffer and experience a slow painful death.

  • This video is so sad. I believe he did have the right to die as he wanted to. It's just a sad, horrible situation. I hope he is at peace.

  • I don't understand how this could be illegal. We don't allow our beloved pets to suffer, so we put them to sleep. How is this different? His mind is obviously clear, and his family was by his side. What a beautiful way to end your suffering. With so many ppl committing suicide or suffering horrible death, how could anyone be against this euthanasia? Am I wrong?

  • These families show immense amounts of courage in choosing this method. It shows love too. I think that people have the right to die if they want to with incurable diseases. RIP

  • so sad

  • It's his life not ours people. He can end it whenever he pleases. Sure it wasn't natural but he doesn't have to go through uneccesary suffering anymore

  • I believe and this is fact that ppl. taking this decission are stupid life is a gift of GOD and he only has a right to take it away not us.

  • @billayisa Go fucking die you sick mother fucking idiot.

  • @billayisa Oh yeah? Angel of Mercy. That's all I have to say. Mercy.

  • death is nothing to fear of its a natural part of life wether to choose to go litle early or not eventualy we all die and be reborn so iff ppl cjoose to go then let them its there chois and maybe a path that they need to walk

  • God is non existant.

    Bullshit.

  • i agree that it should be legal everywhere. i remember when my grandfather was dying from cancer. he was in pain everyday and he stop eating and drinkng and taking his meds just so he could die sooner and not suffer anymore. i remember when he asked us to kill him. he was crying and so were all of us. i also remember thinking to myself that i wanted to do it. not to kill him, but to ease his suffering and pain. just the thoughts about it still bring tears to my eyes.

  • @ckatchison420 im sorry for your loss n pain

  • were the couple American?

  • this is indescribable to do this

  • If you're not happy with the state of your life you should have the right to end it. Fuck that asshole saying it's wrong. Life is less important than suffering.

  • If doctor assisted suicide is acceptable for our pets it's certainly appropriate and the right thing to do for people with terminal patients who suffer miserably. I will persoanally go to the netherlands if I ever get to that point.

  • Comment removed

  • the wife seems super ok with it

  • mate what u on on about people do suffer but god gave us this body for a reson so we have no right to do that. god has plan for everyone ok like said if u pray for help and try it your not gonna lose anything are u and if u do it with meaning turst it will come try doing that wen ur in need ok everyone say oh theres not god theres not this HAVE THESE PEOPLE TRYED HAVE U TRYED SAID GOD HELP me trust me guys this is not the way ful ward

  • @asaadiscool123

God's exist only in fantasy literature.

  • I assume he had ALS Wow, my respects, really. Brave man. You need courage to make this decision. Hopefully one day this will be legal everywhere.

  • i would rather go this way

  • Shut the fuck up SuperCnZ your sarcasm is inappropriate!

  • that's sad

  • Cardiac arrest is just when your heart stops and blood nolonger flows. While under heavy sedation like this no it would be completely painless

  • Is cardiac arrest from drugs not painful to die from?

  • Let me tell you all something! Number one this is not hard to achieve on your own. The drug being used is Xanax in a high dosage! 2: why do you think the government refuses to allow this procedure? Morals? Fuck no! Because if you die you are no longer paying for your illness the government wants you to stay alive as long as possible so you keep feeding the machine

  • Listen .....you are a real ....hole. And it is obvious that you are more tha stupid and I am done explining to you, because you dont have that level of intellect to understand what I want to say, although its simple. I am done wasting my time with you. Think whatever you want and die however you wish, ok?

  • @onischor it's funny you do make a lot more sense than that guy like he can't even understand what you're saying about deciding to die is worse than just randomly dying given that death is inevitable. but then why are you so sure a god exists considering your clever?

  • Conservatives are very similar to those with autistic personality disorders. They both have an inability to feel empathy, lack of ability to "put themselves in someone else's shoes", extreme self-centeredness, and a high resistance to change.

  • My mother died with motor neuron disease and I was her primary care giver. She suffered every day for 3 years with this terrible disease - no cure - no treatment - no hope. I asked for medical help - morphine to help ease her suffering in the final days of her life and I was told to put Panadol in her feeding tube instead! I was left alone to watch her slowly suffocate to death. Everyone should have the right to choose assisted suicide or not, the medical system has failed us both.

  • @hazelsanangel WHERE THE HECK DO YOu LIVE

  • i would laugh if the day he commited suicide they made cure

  • @hazelsanangel I hope you are having a good life now! Message if me if you want to talk

  • @hazelsanangel My Cousins wife passed away from MND 2 months ago it really is a terrible disease.

  • it's my body,my life and my right to live or die

  • It's always the most-hateful, evil, venomous people who are against assisted suicide.

  • i could never watch my husband die. it breaks my heart to even think about it. fatal disease or not, i wouldnt want him to suffer but i couldnt watch. absolutly not.

  • Wasn't assisted suicide shown on tv for the first time on 60 minutes in the late 90?

  • Dios bendiga a toda persona que este atravesando un momento tan difícil en su vida y consideren algo así,que el supremo les de la fortaleza y la sabiduría, para afrontarlo... Clamen a el,no estas solo... se valiente y aferrate a la vida

  • If it came down to it, i would do this, im against suicide, but in this case this man was committing suicide every day he was a live, sooner or later he wouldn't be able to talk and tell his wife good bye, this was a perfect death. If i had a song to die to it would be Deftones - diamond eyes.

This should be legal in the USA.

  • Poor guy...

  • I have NO RIGHT to question your beliefs, your sexual orientation, your faith, your politics or anything that makes you live your life the way that you do. ESPECIALLY if you don’t harm others while you live it. But if you are in the grips of a debilitating disease that is robbing you of your dignity. And should you decide to speed up the inevitable, then why is it so hard for society to come to grips with the unfortunate act that will free you from your suffering?

  • I would not choose such a death. I think it is more scary to die this way than dieng when God wants you to.

  • @onischor

If god had you die by falling into a chainsaw that would be less scary? Grow up.

  • @loner1878

yes, even chainsaw. At least I would not know when the moment comes for me. It is horrible to say :"Ok, now I will die. Bye bye." Having such an opinion does not not make me a child. Not understanding other's opinions makes you a child or a mediocre person. :)

  • @onischor

Yeah, how could I not understand that falling on a chainsaw is less scary than falling asleep from some medicine and passing away peacefully?

You're full of it. And my opinion is that your god is imaginary.

  • @kiafar sad

    i pray for you.

  • wtf if you drink this you die

  • so sad!!

  • At least his wife seemed to be more loving than the terry prattchet prog which truly disturbed me?

  • Get some old man... get some...

  • How brave they were and the wife must have loved him so much to agree to go along with letting him do this, and to be there while it happened.

  • Brave man, shame he has to go to another country to end his life. FUCK ALL RELIGION cleanse the world of it for good

  • I have a cousin with MS, and I know it's not MND, but she is unable to look after herself so she relies on my aunt for everything. She refuses this as she has two young boys, she is 33 and my family fear she will not live to see 40.

  • Poor guy.

  • For me it's too slow. And I want to die faster and plz alone.

  • Beethoven's 9th. Clockwork Orange right?

  • Assisted suicide should be legal..I mean come on, when your dog is all fucked up and shit it's the kind thing to do so why make humans suffer......

It would be easy to police...A doctor writes a rapport saying your fucked then you are seen by another department or whatever they concur you are fucked then you can die all nice and relaxed instead of rotting in an Nhs bed on a nice ward with people opposite you and different bottles full of different shades of piss...Nice !

  • Lets put down the fairy tales and look at this realistically. The man was suffering. I think it was the best way to go. My grandfather had a brain tumor and it ate away at him for half a year. Because he was a christian he did not believe in suicide. We had to watch him suffer through 6 months of his body slowly shutting down. Is that really the way anyone wants to go out. I think this man did the best thing to do.

  • To link this to OMIS cartels (religion) is disingenuous as the OMIS concept is a rumour without proof.

OMIS - Old Man in Sky

  • That is probably one of the saddest things i have ever seen
