It's not hard on your bike but yeah it will wear down the clutch pad any time the clutch and the flywheel are going two different speeds your slowly wearing it down. Therefore, leaving it half engaged isn't that good.
@kansa1melb its only bad for the clutch, in a bike its not so bad because its multi plated wet clutch, but if you did this in a car alot it would eventually just ruin the clutch plate
do u s till ride this bike!?!?!? cause i really want to get a bike and i hear this bike is suposed to be the best bike for starters. i mean i have rode dirtbikes and similar bikes, but im just not certain and do u think it willl last me a good while?

@cookie852 lol its not the top tier bud. its not even FPV just a 18K turbo family sedan. no lag. have a look at my vids there one 80-190kph in 7seconds or something but hey im sorry if i came off douchey with my first comment i was just trying to be funny. but well iv got the BF booked in for a plenum, exhaust and retune which im told will see me at around 500-550kw which is more than enough for low 10's :D on slicks of course. my mates CBR1000 with pipe, pwr cmdr and intake ran a best of 10.6
@therealTOTOfan not really since giving more revs and shifting down you'l increase engine-breaking and on faster bikes the power between gears vary dramatically.
Also, many higher CC bikes can't handle that power, the bikes that british police use (BMW R1200RT-P I think) can actually tear their own gearboxes to shreds if you're not careful. However once you get to bigger bikes you wont see much of a need for this, bikes like the Triumph Thunderbird can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds.
ahh that actully helped me a little thanks ive just recently done my CBT and i own a Honda CBR125 have u any recoomendations once i do my 1st module on a bike?
Eh, can't necessarily agree with jumping the clutch while moving on a higher powered bike. Sure, you definitely use feathering to start hard without flipping, but you try jumping the clutch to 10k and dropping it on my R1 and you'll find yourself on your ass. So I'd say it's more of a smaller bike thing to jump the clutch, but dragging is used all the time to dissipated power you don't want (so you don't flip).
a car's clutch and a motorbike's clutch are built differently. In a car, feathering or riding the clutch will wear it out quickly and the clutch will start to slip. But on a motorbike, the clutch is built to withstand the stress that is put on it when you ride or feather the clutch, it is quite normal to use more clutch than brake to slow you down as you come up to a red light or a corner on a motorbike...
That is called riding your clutch and is terrible for it. I don't know what the difference is with motorcycle and a car's but I've seen people go through a new clutch (under 1k miles) with slipping it once.
This works really well on Kawasaki 60 cc 2 stroke racing dirt bikes aswell. you can do wheelies and burn outs easy, aswell as accelerate very fast if you do it right.
@javelinxd44 na... too gutless... 1st gear clutch pop and you can get it up, or pop from 1st to 2nd. Most people stand on the back pegs, but i removed the cowl and made a foot brace inside so you can out your left foot in there and keep your right foot on the brake. PM me your e-mail I'll send you a pic of it.
@jesserai I take off at the lights and just after im rolling, i rev and dump the clutch and wheelie through the intersection then put it back down. BUT, if i do that.,.. then i'm normally going too fast then to pop it into a wheelie from 1st to 2nd
oooohhh, this is awesome! great video, I always see you do this in all your other videos, like sometimes when you pass cars you do this. Thank you for explaining this Sensei.
its so true what your saying, letting the clutch slip is important for light bikes.
For my bike its or letting the clutch go an go like a snail, or letting it slip and go like hell, with two strokes its even more important then a four stroke.
All you're doing is wearing out your clutch sooner than you would otherwise. There was also a lot of dangerous riding in this video. I wouldn't recommend following this advice.
if i wanted to feather the clutch to get a bit more power from the bike in say 4th gear, when i release the clutch, should i jus drop it or release it slowly??
Been subscribed for years and I've watched as you've slowly got your bearings on some more advanced riding techniques. I have to say after this video I've lost a bit of respect.
usefull technique....personally i dont do it often i like my clutch to last as long as possible but if im racing on the track or street then i do a "race start" and bring the rpms up to about 8k then slowly let it out for a fast start.
mate yourra cunt, he had to sell his bike cus he was described on bbc2 as an illigal street racer so dont watch his vidio's if you find them so offence to you inner very deep down very hidden mascalinity.

a litre bike makes power everwhere trust me, you only need to feather the clutch when pulling away and at low speeds because of the gearing otherwise you will stall, but litre bike dont have the same trouble a 600's they are rediculous everwhere
think about it....if you do that on a car, what happens? It sort of like "lauching" a car but slipping the clutch instead of dumping it. Doing it too much, will wear your clutch out fast.

My friend always rode and feathered his clutch way too much, wore out in about 2 months. He would always ride it outta shifting. 1k for a new clutch (according for Ford) - btw it was an 09 mustang GT (*sigh*)
Clutches in cars are dry plate, they're not designed to be slipped much. The clutch in a motorcycle is "wet" or constantly lubricated by the engine oil, allowing it to be constantly abused. It's more like the torque converter in an autobox, so you can do things to a bike that you can't with a car.
By the way, on a 2strokes engine, the exhaust can modify by 60% the power, on a 4strokes it's merely 10% at best. So having a bad exhaust won't really change your 4strokes bike's power.
I don't think it is hard on motorcycle clutches to do what Mordeth is doing because they are wet as opposed to dry clutches in cars and trucks?????? If you did that in a car and/or truck you would burn the clutch up really fast. Especially if you did it all the time. That's probably why ricers fry their clutches all the time.
I think it's true for any wet clutch application. I've always been told that wet clutches can handle more stress because they are immersed in oil. I'm not a mechanic though just a rider.
haha you know what i mean not to be harsh to our country but its just so safe, like in one of these videos so many things are going on but if you look at his videos over here it aint so intresting.
and anyway fuckin chill out i didnt kill a child i just sed englands shit

By the way, on a 2strokes engine, the exhaust can modify by 60% the power, on a 4strokes it's merely 10% at best. So having a bad exhaust won't really change your 4strokes bike's power.

You could rename this video in « how to ruin your clutch » ;)

If im already moving, ill usually downshift instead of feathering the clutch to pass/accelerate. which would you suggest mordeth?
TehFunk101 2 years ago
Depends where your RPMs were to begin with.

doing what you did at 2:40 will make most bigger bikes start to wheelie.

KillerPenguin01 2 years ago
I thought especially Ninja250 clutches? Since it's an entry-level bike.
MrHasie 2 years ago
I think it's true for any wet clutch application. I've always been told that wet clutches can handle more stress because they are immersed in oil. I'm not a mechanic though just a rider.

i do this in my car when i wann do a traffci light Grand Prix :)

Give England about 20 years, it will be more diverse. You'll have mosques on every corner and Sharia law. Then England will be bangin!! It'll turn into another South Africa.
