  • Stunning! Almost as good as the King

  • Best guitarist of the 21st century? ..and we're not even half way in. I think the only way someone could top Derek is if they play slide with their tongue.

  • church is in session

  • FUCK YES AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • I can die happy now, Now Thats performing!!

  • i just jizzed...twice

  • How the hell Randy Scott beat this is beyond me.

  • @TheSqueakyWaffle I don't believe Derek was entered in the competition, considering that he's been included on both lists of Rolling Stone's greatest guitarists of all-time, plays full-time in the Allman Brothers Band and in his two of his own groups, and is, to many pundits and players, a candidate for the greatest damn electric guitar player to ever walk the earth...all at 31 years of age.

  • Pretty sure Derek Trucks is King of the Blues, not whomever won this competition.

  • HE MAKIN' THAT SLIDE SING!!!!!!! I HEAR NUTHN BUT VOCALS!!!

  • MAN HE MAKIN' THAT SLIDE SING!!!!!!!!! ALL I HEAR IS VOCALS!!!!

  • Love the Sahib Teri Bandhi licks during the intro.

  • Just ............................ :o

  • the first 2:21 may of been the best slide guitar i've ever seen

  • @tannerleudy36 search: Sahib Teri Bandi, Down Don't Bother Me, Crow Jane, Down in the Flood, Desdemona, The Sky is Crying, Anyday, Midnight in Harlem, These Walls...the best thing about Derek is that even when you think he's at his best, he just keeps getting better!

  • 6:02 another fine addition to my own bag of tricks. Thanks Derek!

  • @goldenchopsticks Pinch harmonics baby!

  • @jsl209 what he does is a little different from pinch harmonics, but its still beautiful isnt it!

  • @johnjohnson510 Can you elaborate a little bit? I use a pinch technique to replicate this type of sound that I base off of 'pinching' a string 12 frets above where my slide is located, the pinch barely mutes the string and causes an octave harmonic to sound out. I know Derek's technique is different because he uses his index finger, I could never really figure out exactly how hes doing it

  • @jsl209 Its called a harped harmonic, you use your index finger (or other finger) to hit 12 frets above where you have the slide and then use your thumb to hit the string thus creating a natural harmonic that you can then change the pitch of with the slide. Its a very nifty trick, especially if you are a slide player

  • Amazing.....

  • damn! if that doesn't touch your soul - you're dead

  • Great!

  • Great band too !

  • He is SOOOO much more soulful than other player could dream of being. It's insane at how much emotion he can pass on with one note on a guitar. And does it get better than Mike on vocals?

  • I watch this video every day...

  • Wonder if he will EVER learn to play?...

  • Are we sure he ain't Duane's son?..

  • derek makes me wanna get happy!

  • As the late great Johnny "Guitar" Watson would say, "Aw, stuff!"

  • at 2:00 that lick brings moist to my eyes

  • the best version of dereks that ive seen.....JJ Johnson on the kit?

  • Derek throws down on this one - Duane is proud - Skydog lives on - Juiceman

  • I don't know how to say it any better than I LOVE Derek Trucks, that tone is Godly!
