@johnjohnson510 Can you elaborate a little bit? I use a pinch technique to replicate this type of sound that I base off of 'pinching' a string 12 frets above where my slide is located, the pinch barely mutes the string and causes an octave harmonic to sound out. I know Derek's technique is different because he uses his index finger, I could never really figure out exactly how hes doing it

@jsl209 Its called a harped harmonic, you use your index finger (or other finger) to hit 12 frets above where you have the slide and then use your thumb to hit the string thus creating a natural harmonic that you can then change the pitch of with the slide. Its a very nifty trick, especially if you are a slide player
