thanks for posting..The last lick he showed me back in 92!! He added for me for even more of a blusey touch, after the 12th fret high E string come back down a bit pulling off and come back up to end on the 10th fret high E..
Once you get past the rediculous shred "intro" it's actually quite informative, his "double barre" idea is cool. It's a shame he wasn't given more assistance by the school (like better lighting onstage, and how about a freakin' stand for his papers? LOL).
Seriously, though, can anyone point me to some reading that details Greg's background and, especially, that explains his musical and technical development, training, and education? Thx.
I know that Greg first mastered the licks and solos of Jimmy Page when he was in 8th grade or something, then when Eddie Van Halen came out, it totally changed his perspective towards guitar playing and I guess he managed to play "Eruption" without tapping!!! Then he went to a Van Halen concert and saw what Eddie was doing and by 3 or 4 in the morning he had eruption down.
I also read that he was HEAVILY influenced by Larry Carlton, so I would guess he studied him intensely.
It must surely be cosmically illegal for Human beings to possess this kind of supernatural skill and creativity. Is Howe an alien hybrid of some kind?
thank you for this video!

It's probably a Fender Heavy Metal Strat. Check out his REH video. Same model but with dual humbuckers.
