first i was like "lol this dude sucks thats impossible that that is gonna sounds good" after he startet playing i was like "How is that possible!" O.o
James! If you do tutorial videos, think you could make one for this song ("Goofus", right?) ? I haven't been able to figure out the whole melody on violin, and I'd really like to use this bowing technique on that song because you made it seem so fun... so it would be a huge help!
One does not need to modify the bow to achieve polyphonic playing. Many baroque pieces, regularly performed by virtuoso violinist, are very polyphonic; a good example is Bach's Ciaccona. I recommend the version by Stanislav Antonevich.
Funny! My old professor used to do it in class when he was in a good mood. :-)

Rare example of something that looks bad and useless but turns out to be awesome.
I guess JS Bach would love this.

yet, if you're good enough with a normal bow you will be able to get 2-3 voices just intermediately

The website for the Bach Bogen bow is up, but I sent an email 6 months ago and never received a return email.

Nice sound

You could do this with the Bach Bogen (bow) but it's not available as far as I can ascertain.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a curved (baroque) bow? Or at least a straight bridge?
sasha42196 3 years ago
wouldn't that cost more money?
