It's better for you to choose the 4g iPod shuffle because you can also use it as iPod shuffle 3g and it also has buttons which allows you to use any pair of earphones you want

You can also sync audio PodCasts and AudioBooks to iPod shuffle not to mention if you want to save space go to iPod summary and convert your songs to 192 kbps AAC codec.

In my opinion getting rid of the text just cleans up the appearance of the product, After about a day of use you get used to the 3 simple functions the buttons serve and you would never really need to look at the ipod to know what function its set to anyways. I would also like to add that compared to the last generation in ways this almost seems like a step back to me, I preferred the last generation of shuffle due to the easily accessible controls on the right head phones cable.
