  • The form may not have been very good but I would like to see any of you even try one half rep. I highly doubt any of you can do that.

  • raw, full reps, no one touching the bar or it doesnt count. if you need a bench shirt you cant do the weight.

  • I counted 0 full reps and saw 40 bounced half reps with the aid of a slingshot shirt. Take off the stupid slingshot shirt and bench it more than 5 inches range of motion and dont bounce it off your chest and then the reps will count. Bench it raw or it doesn't count.

  • You can minus about 225lbs of the weight from wearing the bench shirt...i've tried a bench shirt on for the hell of it,and you can lay totally relaxed with 225lbs and the bar will still hover above your chest 3-4 inches..thats how much a bench shirt helps..which is why bench shirts are lameass..go raw or go home!

  • Guys first of you probably don't know who Joe Ladnier is. He is a powerlifting elite level legend and competed back before you guys were even born. He holds numerous titles and competed with the best ever, ie ( Coan, Wright, etc and the list goes on). The guy is in he forties and still pushing serious weight.

Thats right, the shirt aided him so much that he could not "pull" 700 lbs to his chest. Bench shirts are a joke as are the competitions that allow them. Be a real man and lift in a t-shirt.

  • @Cmac1000rr I used a single ply shirt in training years ago and got 385 at a bodywght of 165. At that time I could get 345 raw. I never used a shirt in competition because I think they are a joke. My best RAW bench in competition was 410 at a bodyweight of 181. I'm not saying this Joe Ladnier dude isn't strong, but whats the point of bouncing the weight for a bunch of half reps while using a bench shirt? Especially when this shirts main advantage is to make the weight light "off the chest"

Do a little research and you might find that people looking to build muscle and strength in their pecs usually don't lock out. The reason is the triceps tire a lot quicker than the chest does. Locking out is all triceps, not chest. Watch some videos of most top bodybuilders and you'll see they don't usually lock out except if they're doing the rest/pause method in order to go to failure.

    wasnt directed at anyone in general. but 360 is pretty impressive. mine was 305 for 2 at 170. but i would have to agree bouncing 405 pounds off your beer belly, wearing a bench suit and prob wearing 45 pounds less than the weight your lifting is not very impressive.

    Sure, the shirt does not take 80%, but it helps a fair bit in that range of motion. The bouncing is even worse. Between the two... not much of a lift.

    And I would say any semi knowledgeable lifter would know how much it helps to use your rib cage like a trampoline.

    Of course he is bouncing it off his rib cage, plus he is limiting the ROM to where the bounce and the bench shirt really help.

    If you think that benching a lot determines knowledge or good form then you are more retarded than I thought (which is a feat in itself).

    And of course its possible - he is dropping it from a very short distance, offering some resistance to control the bounce, and using a bench shirt, which is particularly helpful in that range.
