bottom line is...sui lim tao is te best form in the world and already contains every aspect of the art that it needs. If you want to make the art grow, be origonal, dont rip off what already is proven to work. secondly, proper twisting doesnt come from the heels. its done from the hips and across the whole of your foot. trust me, he isnt as rooted as you have been led to believe. Keep taining but with an open mind! regards,
@jimbopap The way I see it your sil lim tao is your fighting form once your in the fight sil lim tao, then the second form is for entering and exiting that fight, your 3rd form is for emergencies and to return to the 1st form and thus a cycle but yeah sil lim tao is the glue and the works of this excellent style.
One would think, but trust me when I tell you Sifu is very much rooted. That is one of his pet peeves when you train under him. He is constantly testing your stance. He makes sure that you can redirect and that you also are well grounded.
this is nothing new. he just combined the Shifting/twisting moves to the Siu Lim Tau, which the Shifting your meant to do after woulds on their own e.g Shifting gun-sal/bong-sal.
when the whole idea behind Siu Lim Tau is to focus the energy on the wrist and more other stuffs...
After doing a million reps of Siu Lim Tau, don't you think you would be better prepared to fight properly if you had muscle memory for shifting than standing there taking the energy? That is the difference with Sifu, he is always looking to better the art. He still keeps the traditional Siu Lim Tau, but he also is looking to make the art grow.
Yes like all arts forms one must do million reps... but in this art form if one dost focus on the chi he will not have much effect on this strikes since Ving Tsun is close combat form

one of the problem with wing chun is is the stance like that.. way too upright, so vulnerable to take-downs.
