The make-up was terrible in this movie - it masked Jackie Earle Hayley's distinctive features. Would've been a braver choice by the producers to use far less. The dream sequences were brilliant though, all done with lighting shifts and suggestion.

Englund although not a great actor did make an unforgettable Freddy and it's the role that will always define his career. That said I also though Haley did a wonderful job as well. He was different which was good but he was given crap to work with unlike his predecessor. Overall I feel that from what I've seen from Haley he is the better actor overall. His performance as Rorschach in "Watchmen" was sublime! One thing I've notice however though is that both actors seem like really nice guys.

I don't like the new Freddy but I don't blame Jackie Earle Haley. It's the directors fault because they've toned Freddy down too much, he doesn't have any of his trademark dark humour or manic laughs. In the remake Freddy's jsut as dull as dishwater
Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger. Though Jackie is a good actor, i just couldnt take the movie seriously at all, i was missing Robert's voice, sarcasm and humour he gave to Freddy. No offense, but Jackie's Freddy just reminded me of Voldemort and was not scary at all...
The remake was a good movie, but my main complaint was that there was an abundance of "scares" (that is, a few seconds of Freddy on screen about to kill someone, then they escape) and not enough actual killing. They could have easily doubled the body count by removing some of the unnecessary "scares". People get scared by murder too you know.

I liked the back Story of the new one, but I miss Robert's sarcasm as Freddy. I also Loved Robert's voice for Freddy. I think it gave him the scary edge in his character.
Jackie is to Freddy what Roger Moore is to James Bond: not as good as the original actor (in this case Robert Englund) but a damn worthy successor. Jackie does a great job playing our beloved Freddy. It's just too bad the movie didn't have a better director.

The 2010 NoES, is in my category of "could have been done better". Just like the Sucker Punch movie. The heavy reliance on Freddy's background and lack of enthusiams that most of the victim's had is what killed it. Jackie's version is great for the serious Freddy. I give kudos to Kyle Gallner since his character shown more concern than anyone else when it came to the bottom line. Nancy annoyed me, like she knows Freddy's there yet declined to use a method of staying awake that Quentin suggested.

I think the new Nightmare on Elm Street was a very good remake. We learned more about Freddy's past and he was a lot scarier imo. As opposed to Robert's Freddy which was great, but was more like the Joker as a sadistic killer.
i love how jackie did the new freddy. they did a very good job of recreating the character of fred krueger. i honestly don't relate jackie and robert as the same character; they are just soo different. the old freddy was more sadistic and had a little bit too much fun killing kids, whereas the new one is much more vengeful and merciless and seriously pissed off (which was obvious when he killed kris; that was just brutal)

The remake was a good movie, but my main complaint was that there was an abundance of "scares" (that is, a few seconds of Freddy on screen about to kill someone, then they escape) and not enough actual killing. They could have easily doubled the body count by removing some of the unnecessary "scares". People get scared by murder too you know.

Say what you will about the slew of remakes we've been getting, but all of the villains have been extremely well portrayed.
Andrew Bryniarski was a great Leatherface
Tyler Mane was a great Michael Myers
Derek Mears was a great Jason Voorhees
and I thought that Jackie did a great job as Freddy, and is worthy to be Robert's successor.

Jackie is to Freddy what Roger Moore is to James Bond: not as good as the original actor (in this case Robert Englund) but a damn worthy successor. Jackie does a great job playing our beloved Freddy. It's just too bad the movie didn't have a better director.

The 2010 NoES, is in my category of "could have been done better". Just like the Sucker Punch movie. The heavy reliance on Freddy's background and lack of enthusiams that most of the victim's had is what killed it. Jackie's version is great for the serious Freddy. I give kudos to Kyle Gallner since his character shown more concern than anyone else when it came to the bottom line. Nancy annoyed me, like she knows Freddy's there yet declined to use a method of staying awake that Quentin suggested.

Nobody can beat Englund as Freddie, but...my GOD Jackie is damn good at it. Brings a whole new 'creepy' element to the character that's just deeply unsettling while being monstrously scary at the same time.
"I'm your boyfriend now" is one of the creepiest lines I've ever heard.

I think Jackie Earle Haley was good as freddy but Robert Englund will always the best Freddy. i think the biggest problem with jackie's freddy was the make up, i mean he looked more like a leper than a burn victim, and i tihnk the film would of been better over all if he had been innocent that adds another level of depression and horror to the story, but it did not deserve to be in the top 5 worst films of the year like it was.

Sorry people. But even Robert Englund played the new freddy in Wes Craven's A New Nightmare and he made him so scarey that i almost shit myself. They should have watched that movie and said Robert is going to play this Freddy. people say the old freddy was funny thats true but in the original nightmare movie freddy was not funny he was more frightning and intimidating, it was the sequels when he sort of transformed into the wise cracking freddy. so everyone saying in the remake he is more frightning than the original needs to watch the first elm street, hands down it is way better than the remake. And no one can replace Robert Englund

I think the new Nightmare on Elm Street was a very good remake. We learned more about Freddy's past and he was a lot scarier imo. As opposed to Robert's Freddy which was great, but was more like the Joker as a sadistic killer.

i love how jackie did the new freddy. they did a very good job of recreating the character of fred krueger. i honestly don't relate jackie and robert as the same character; they are just soo different. the old freddy was more sadistic and had a little bit too much fun killing kids, whereas the new one is much more vengeful and merciless and seriously pissed off (which was obvious when he killed kris; that was just brutal)

Then of course when they added the modulation to " give The Voice a supernatural quality " and " get it away from the Rorschach Voice " , it started soundin` even more like Englund`s Voice at parts !
