@kb7rky The Motion Picture certainly isn't the greatest movie ever made, though they did a reasonable job of the Director's Cut afterwards. But the scene in TMP where Kirk is taken out to the Enterprise in dry dock is just PERFECT! You're given glimpses of "her" to tantalise you first, then she is suddenly lit up in all her glory - just amazing and one of the best film sequences ever in my opinion.
The timing of the Enetrprise 'lighting up' sequence is better than the original film. I always thought (back in 1979) that the edits were a few fractions of a second out or perhaps it was the low quality print our cinema was provided with, Anyway a good piece of work. I will be using the music from the sequence in a rather unusual way shortly which will all be about the relationship between Music and movement.
WOWOWOWOWOWO THAT WAS BRILLIANT< WONDERFUL GREAT AMAZING. They SHold HIRE YOU TO REDO ALL THE FILMS LIKE THEY HAVE PUT OUT FOR SOO MANY MOVIES GREAT JOB.
I have said this many of times on this site, that some of the BEST talent on the planet post on this site. You rank with the best of them!!!!! I say this again people like you should be the one's in Hollywood because you have imagination, those tin heads in L.A. no longer have it!!!!!!
sweet. nicely done. i imagine the light and shade effects must've took some time. well i have a poster of the enterprise from the first move 4 feet by 2 feet with cutouts and a key describing all the sections of the enterprise on my wall.
Just a suggestion that you may want to add some small 'structures' and 'greening' to Mars, since terraforming was started in the mid-22nd century (ST:Enterprise "Terra Prime") and this is about 100 years later.
absolutely beautiful spectacular fantastic wonderful awesome inspiring - can't find enough words to describe - most supremely excellent in every way !!!!!
@mylex67 wow amazing!....they could use your CGI enhancements in a special edition release of the movie imagine that...it looks just about that genuine to me!
Good work, far above the usual Internet fare, although no CGI will ever surpass the love they showed the physical model in TMP. If you've studied what went into it, you know that TMP put more effort into the Enterprise visuals than pretty much every other Trek film combined.
Incidentally, here's an accuracy check: Rewatch TMP and look at when the warp engines are engaged (i.e., when the nacelles are lit up). It's not just when the ship is at warp speed. All future Trek films missed that detail.
Oh yeah, I remember now. Can't believe I forgot that part. I imagine it would have been cooler though if they added the smaller shuttles exiting the opened panels as was seen in the original footage.
This is just bad ass...i love the Enterprise and all of her glory, when she powers up, i cant wait to see the next scene when she goes to warp and enters through the wormhole.
This is just gorgeous!! You did a FANTASTIC job of creating the feel, the color, the mood of the original sequence. The only things I would crit, and they are not bad is, to add a bit mor "pearlescent" to the hull. Also the shuttle bay you depict actually belongs to the NCC-1701A (not the refit as seen in STTMP - STIII) - which had the longer shuttlebay. I'm currently working on the Polar Lights build. Still Excellent work!!
I'm not sure how you could get any closer to the real thing, mylex. This was absolutely beautiful! And kudos to you for putting the curve of the Earth into the background during the departure. Bravo!
A starship such as the Enterprise should never, EVER be tarnished in ANY way.

I do have one complaint though, the light on Mars should be a cresent, not half lit.
