this guy is huge in new york, new yorkers love him apparently. why not he is the best keyboard player in the world at the moment, well since 1980 odd.
@passion8Italian Hey Aussie mate, im live in Melbourne and Vega 91.5fm play this song on a regular basis the other day they end played No one ever is to blame. I turned it up loud and rocked it out with my 3 sons saying Oh mum from the back seat! So cute.
I like Facebook but I only like the fact I can talk about music with my mates on it apart from that it's crap and made for today's ''look at me, I'm so much better than you'' generation not every young person is like that but most of the ones I have met, are. In the 80s no one was perfect either but a lot more ppl got on with each other than they do now.
This awesome song is still played on the oldies station in Oz. Can someone write out the lyrics of the second line of the chorus, i obviously know i like to get to know you well, so when...... then whats that quick line...... cheers from downunder!
@melissakate77 Ok so i think i got it so im going to answer my own question! I like to get to know u well x 3 so we can one, one can we be one together. Please reply if im wrong! ha
This video was part of the "Take off to Animation" segment on the old Night Flight program on USA. The song was also adopted as an unofficial anthem for the 1984 Summer Olympics. Perhaps one of Howard Jones' best songs and is worth repeat listenings.
i wish i could live in the 80s!! i would be a part of the mass hypnosis and i would love to be in the 80s matrix. i dont like the new world. by the way i want to be a part of the elite. they will have their otopia when we all are gone
@computer5t You're def. wrong, I'm 19 and a BIG fan of the 80s music era, this song and Howard Jones as well :) Also a big HATER of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga sort of thins... The "37 dislikes" are the ones that you mentioned, but not all under-thirties ;)
This whole album reminds me of 1989. My mom had it on tape back in those days and I was very young when she had it, but I remember those days really well.
Are you basing this on your opinion that it LOOKS like Nick, or have you read that he did this guest spot for this video? I have seen Jed Hoile many times in the past, and it does indeed look like Jed. I also remember Jed being asked in an interview which of Howard's music videos he has appeared on, and if memory serves me right this was indeed one of those Jed listed. Also, ask yourself:why would Nick Heyward shave off all his hair just to be on a music video for another artist?
Why must you get so agitated about this issue. I believe that it is Nick Heyward as it very much resembles him from thr seminal 1980's hit Love + 1. He has the same cranial features although has not any hair in this instance but perhaps it was cut off as he was going abroad to a hot climate shortly after the completion of this video. I believe that Nick Heyward may also be a good friend of Howard like Jez Holeman is, or that is according to you. I have never heard of him myself.
Also, if anyone is getting "agitated" about this small point it's yourself.
Why would you openly ASK Youtube viewers "Is that Nick Heyward from haircut 100 in the beginning of the video wearing different hats?" then when someone tells you it's NOT you then become argumentative and insulting to them? Think about it.
@1966JJW I kinda feel the same way. The '80's were the best years of my life and the music was way awesome than today's bullshit. Damn I wish I could go back in time and relive those years.
@1966JJW "TheBakerman1 - i miss the 80's and yes your right, none of the anti social shit of today. Generations have missed so much. I think i am about to have a mid life crisis.....aaaagggghhhh"
For the record, this is the SECOND video version and was made for the US release in 1985 (the year when every man and their dog got their crayons out and started doing animated music videos).
Why is it that in life we only fully appreciate such great things years and years after. So glad to have lived the eighties. The decade will never be beaten.
@dmp160170 Yes, it's odd that we only truly appreciate a particular period of time after many years have passed (usually). Who knows why that is but I think this has been the case regardless of who or how old you are. The 1970's and 80's were among the most turbulent times in my life yet I still look back with profuse fondness and would go back in a heat beat if I could - particularly the 80's.
Just saw Hot Tub Time Machine and found it interesting one of the guys was mad he was back in the 80s
I watched Better Off Dead 21 years ago on TV. This song was one of the things that made it great. After that I never new who made that song and before the days of the internet, noone really could help when I asked. I didn't know how to look it up and I couldn't even purchase Better Off Dead on VHS or later on DVD in my area.
Then it came across my mind about 5 years ago that I could just go to IMDB.com and check it out. Thank God (or just the creators of it) for the internet!
@Thetan1974 Thats cool..I bought it the other day & still havent watched it yet..Im gonna as soon as my wife isnt busy,,We will probally watch together, she never saw it so it will be funny to see her reaction. Im watching Friday the 13th movies this week for some reason!!
@googlique I agree! I used to like his songs in the 80's but I had no idea he had recorded so much other stuff other than the 3 or 4 hits I knew then - So glad to have rediscovered it all through these youtube vids! Don't know how I missed out on all these hundreds of tunes by him... Some really good stuff (especially lyric-wise) even if it is a little stylistically cheesy - still with the electronica sound. But his lyrics are like he's a prophet on a mission. Preach, HOJO!
@tdmhcbbds32chp no, they were more fun to dance to and EVERYONE liked them, not just the little lollipop-licking teeny-boppers that must hear a song 6 times an hour
@basherman69 To follow up from yesterday, just wikied the info. It was released in the summer of 1984, likely as the follow-up to "What is Love?", Jones' second single.
Awesome song from the 80's!!! Howard Jones was a top artist he had so much creativity, this track is awesome. He is very underrated nowadays, wish he were still releasing ace tunes like this.

JJmacd 6 months ago
@JJmacd
WHO is "Jez Holeman"?
Do you mean JED HOILE?
It's not according to me, look up any bio on Howard Jones and you will quickly learn about Jed.
I'm not getting "agitated about this issue", I'm simply trying to enlighten you with the facts.
And the fact is that Jed was and remains very proud of his professional association with Howard
and in particular the music videos they did together.
I tell you what, the next time I interview Howard I will ask him about this, okay?

I think the biggest problem with much modern songs is that they're digitally perfected. In other words flattened by computers.
