Vydio - the Nuremberg Tribunals after WWII established that soldier can not hide behind a government, at the state level, and this oath does not matter when the war is considered illegal and immoral and is not sanctioned. It's a duty of a soldier to resist illegal orders, including torture, maiming and killing civilians. Not to mention the Geneva Conventions. Why should Kimberly and her family pay so heavily for Bush's illegal war on Iraq?
as a canadian i agree, but she might of already joined the army before the iraq war, Many american soilders are fleeing to canada to get out of it but fleeing instead of suiside because you dont want to go back of your fucked up mentally from what you saw, is much worse as the american suicide rate is highest it ever been because of this war, people losing everything they have because the economy if Canada can help for those in need that is what canada is all about peace and to maintain it.
In order to fight a war, the soldiers have to be threatened (with death, in the past) if they desert. What if you joined thinking" I can do this". Or thinking "I'll be a hero". But faced with the actual daily reality of war, you now realize that it is wrong? People can quit other jobs, they can quit a marriage. People can change! They can mature, They can see the light!
