Everyone on here is like "Oh my god, Castle and Beckett so cute...etc etc..." Unbelievable, completely missed the point of this scene. A man's last stand against the world. Think about it. Man's got 8 shots. 4 trained professionals against him using G17s. That's a total of 45 shots. He realizes that to protect his family he has to strike down the wicked that would harm them, and that includes himself. Castle and Beckett be damned, this is Montgomery's stand

This scene... Every time I watch it, it just leaves me speechless. It's one of the best moments on the show. I love that Montgomery went out, protecting her. He was determined to keep her safe. And Stana's performance is just heartbreaking. The more I watch this, the more I am ready for season 4.

I was surprised that it was Montgomery but I thought that it was well written and not random like the writers were stuck and said "oh, it's Montgomery". I always loved Montgomery and I thought that despite his mistakes it was a good way to go.
