There is a really easy trick to memorize the stalag/stalac situation that I was taught in Earth Science... Stalagmite has a "G" in it hence "Ground"....Stalactite has a "C" in it hence "Ceiling"...CHEERS...
You know, i've always thought that people didnt play any of the Final Fantasy's for the actual game play. I always thought that the main reason these games were so successful was because of the enticing story and the brilliant soundtrack. And i do have to say, this type of battle system is good too, better than the new ones.
When I watched this, I start thinking which one is beter:
Shadow Flare or Pandora`s Box. (SF and PB)
With calculator and Final Fantasy wiki information I did little calculations and here are the results:
Their damage are equal if the target blocks 52% of magic attacks, so as long as the target`s magic defense is weaker than, use SF. (It takes 10MP less than PB anyway.) BUT if the defense is greater, like 60%, then you should use PB for a greater damage.

i did everything you did but i left the cave and leveled up some then came back and went threw the second path backwards again just like you did but i didnt get the mystile, i dnt remember anyone giving me a mythril even though i have the mythril armlet. i dnt think its a typo cuz it has crappy stats
There's a monster in Final Fantasy 9 called Hecteyes that uses Roulette. I hate it >_> He always seems to hit my favorite character (Vivi). I hate moves that depend on chance like that.

HC, you forgot to tell us that Dragon Zombie can be found RIGHT away when you hit the spiral screen. Also, remove Cids (CONTAIN) Materia or he stones the dam dragon and I do not know if you can get the Pandora's Box Enemy Skill... I had to reset the game twice and walk all the way back.
I'm not sure how i did it...maybe i sent everyone down the left path and my party went down the right path because i wanted to learn the enemy skills...im not sure...but when i got to the point where u collect the treasure from the others...vincent gave me a mega all and yuffie game me an elemental
I think that you can get the Pandora's box when u are jumping the rocks just before fighting Sephiroth but I don't remember so well its been a while since I last played this great game and nice LP. ^^
I guess it makes sense that the Pandora's Box enemy skill can only be cast once by enemies in the game because of the pandora's box mythology; the mythological box did all its damage from being opened the first time.
yeah it sure seems like the enemies at the end of the game aren't really up to snuff....I haven't played many Final Fantasy games, but in FFX at least the guys at the end were VERY hard. I remember getting my healing magic down to 1mp per cast, and i would still run out of mana with like 500mp because the save points were spread so thin.
Sephiroth better be one fucking bad-ass enemy. I wanna see someone totally destroy you :D Its the peppiness, i cant stand it
If there's one thing Final Fantasy VIII actually DID do right, it was the final dungeon. FF7's is kind of a joke, compared to Kefka's Tower, Ultimecia's Castle, and Memoria...
Yeah. Even some people who hated FF8 have expressed a similar opinion of the final dungeon. I dunno, maybe the final dungeon was so awesome that it leached all the awesome from the rest of the game. =P
(I'm actually a fan of FF8, but it's certainly not the best in the series.)
Hey HC? Does the save crystal you get from the box allow you to exit the north cave as well? Or can you please tell me where the point of no return is so I can come back out and master my materias.
Has it EVER used Pandora's Box, possibly before you tried learning it? The game will only allow it to be cast once in the entire game by a Dragon Zombie. If you missed it at that time, you can never get it.
@TheBalambGarden I have had Pandora's Box on most of my playthroughs, except the ones where I'm trying to get everything. They just will not use it when I want them to.
Yeah, I like the games that have you use all of your party member for certain areas. That's one of the things I like about Sonic Chronicles (Don't judge me) and Pokemon.

May I make the friendly suggestion not to rush the final battles so that we get to witness their full grandeur? That is, if you haven't recorded them yet...
The final area lack, indeed, of teamwork as you stated and in my opinion it also lacks of bosses. You know like...in FFVI before the big battle against kefka you had 3 status (one for each team) that's what FFVII lacked the most for the final area.
I really liked what Square did in FF8, where you split into two parties and you have to solve puzzles that way to progress through the final castle. That was really fun, and they had a LOT of puzzles. It's too bad they didn't do that in this game.
You're right about the end of FF7 missing the interesting stuff that was in FF6. I mean, the best you get is to cycle through your different teams during the final battle. I know FF6 did the same, but at least getting to the final battle was a lot more engaging.
Man, hard to believe you've been on this game for about four months and it's coming to an end by Monday the latest (not sure if you're doing both final battles and the ending tomorrow). Well I look forward to FFV that's for sure. I really enjoy all these vids, probably more than I should but same probably goes for most of us.
Wow, I didn't even know those two enemy skills existed..Angel Whisper seems really overpowered (yes, even compared to all of the other overpowered abilities), though I don't think HC will have to use it. I don't think I ever went into the path HC explores in this video (thus, why I never found these particular enemy skills, I suppose..)
Isn't Pandora's Box like the most powerful Enemy Skill in the entire game? Even though it may not have seemed that way when the Dragon Zombie uses it on you, I remember it being exceptionally powerful once it comes into your arsenal. Of course, it still caps at 9999, unlike most of the stuff you can dish out now. =P
HCbailly I am NOT sure But I think you can Manip the Zombie dragons into using Pandoras box BUT its a bitch to Manip them. You can Also learn Shadow Flare off them as well.

Final Fantasy VII, was a pretty great game. Not the end all be all RPG the fanboys make it out to be. But it is still a great game.
Although the Final area doesn't seem as epic as I remembred. Although other newer games had come out. Such as Mass Effect which as a pretty epic finale.

On my last file where I can beat Sephiroth whenever I want I lost my opportunity to learn Pandora's Box. I forgot to have enemy skills on my characters! Doh! Pandora's Box is by far one of the coolest looking. A huge question mark in space and then the glass breaks. Isn't that awesome?

I'd forgotten that "Chasing the Black-Caped Man" plays one last time in that one path in the final area. Really cool to hear it one more time, it's one of the best background tracks in the game.
OOO enemy skills and epic final battle! 5/5! FF6 did have team work but that complicates things a lot. I can't wait to see you play it because I want to know how you would set up your party. Your set ups are always Interesting! glad you enjoyed this LP i know I enjoyed watching it! OOO I can't wait for the final battle!
Finally, someone else out there that likes FFIX. It is also my favorite game, though people say it sucks compared to FFVII or FFVIII But I think it is way better. IT actually forces you to use certain characters for certain jobs, not just any character for any job. Also the story line is so great in FFIX. Kuja is probably the lamest villan though.
That's like one of the only reasons I didn't like playing it. I like the little real time events or whatever they were called. The events that happened to your other party members while you were off some place else. I also liked the Chocobo Treasure hunting game. That was fun.
I'm sure if HC did FFIX, he wouldn't bother to get the Excalibur II. After all, it's not like he got every materia and item in this game. For example, he missed at least one Fort Condor battle because it would have taken too long to go back and do it. And he didn't bother with less-useful materia. The Excalibur II, similarly, is not worth it.
I too love FInal Fantasy IX. The only problem though is if HC wants to collect every item, like he's been doing with all his LP's, he'll have to rush through the game to collect the Excalibur II. And that will make his LP much less fun.
Or he can, since he is using an emulator, either do thee game once offscreen really fast to show how to get the excalibur 2 , or change back the acmount of time played.
Unless you've got some incredible skill or know FFIX better than the back of your hand, it's practically impossible to obtain EVERY item and still get Excalibur II.

Yes. You can backtrack and exit whenever you want.
You only get one Save Crystal, though, so you need to be careful where you use it.

stalagmites are on the ground because they might reach the roof

Stalagmite has a "g" because the come from the ground, Stalctites have a "c" because they come from the celiling

Wow, I didn't even know those two enemy skills existed..Angel Whisper seems really overpowered (yes, even compared to all of the other overpowered abilities), though I don't think HC will have to use it. I don't think I ever went into the path HC explores in this video (thus, why I never found these particular enemy skills, I suppose..)

Isn't Pandora's Box like the most powerful Enemy Skill in the entire game? Even though it may not have seemed that way when the Dragon Zombie uses it on you, I remember it being exceptionally powerful once it comes into your arsenal. Of course, it still caps at 9999, unlike most of the stuff you can dish out now. =P

I always remember stalactites and mites like this HC (from a crazy ol' cave guide referring to the direction the formations point):
"If the ants MIGHT go UP your pants,

just like any other FF blue mages/enemy skill has some of the best magic in the game.... if you have the patience for it.

HCbailly I am NOT sure But I think you can Manip the Zombie dragons into using Pandoras box BUT its a bitch to Manip them. You can Also learn Shadow Flare off them as well.

Final Fantasy VII, was a pretty great game. Not the end all be all RPG the fanboys make it out to be. But it is still a great game.
Although the Final area doesn't seem as epic as I remembred. Although other newer games had come out. Such as Mass Effect which as a pretty epic finale.

When i record i get a bit of chopyness any idea on how to fix it any help would be great. i never got it before so thats why im asking.thanks in advance:D

On my last file where I can beat Sephiroth whenever I want I lost my opportunity to learn Pandora's Box. I forgot to have enemy skills on my characters! Doh! Pandora's Box is by far one of the coolest looking. A huge question mark in space and then the glass breaks. Isn't that awesome?

I've never done a party other than Cloud, Red and Cid...Mostly because of Omni slash, Earth Rage, and Highwind....doing a crap ton of damage...

I'd forgotten that "Chasing the Black-Caped Man" plays one last time in that one path in the final area. Really cool to hear it one more time, it's one of the best background tracks in the game.

OOO enemy skills and epic final battle! 5/5! FF6 did have team work but that complicates things a lot. I can't wait to see you play it because I want to know how you would set up your party. Your set ups are always Interesting! glad you enjoyed this LP i know I enjoyed watching it! OOO I can't wait for the final battle!

Finally, someone else out there that likes FFIX. It is also my favorite game, though people say it sucks compared to FFVII or FFVIII But I think it is way better. IT actually forces you to use certain characters for certain jobs, not just any character for any job. Also the story line is so great in FFIX. Kuja is probably the lamest villan though.

That's like one of the only reasons I didn't like playing it. I like the little real time events or whatever they were called. The events that happened to your other party members while you were off some place else. I also liked the Chocobo Treasure hunting game. That was fun.

IX is my favorite as well.
I'm sure if HC did FFIX, he wouldn't bother to get the Excalibur II. After all, it's not like he got every materia and item in this game. For example, he missed at least one Fort Condor battle because it would have taken too long to go back and do it. And he didn't bother with less-useful materia. The Excalibur II, similarly, is not worth it.

I too love FInal Fantasy IX. The only problem though is if HC wants to collect every item, like he's been doing with all his LP's, he'll have to rush through the game to collect the Excalibur II. And that will make his LP much less fun.

Or he can, since he is using an emulator, either do thee game once offscreen really fast to show how to get the excalibur 2 , or change back the acmount of time played.

Unless you've got some incredible skill or know FFIX better than the back of your hand, it's practically impossible to obtain EVERY item and still get Excalibur II.
