  • NICE MAGALING!

  • Love her voice, love her brains, love her pride!

    Peace!

  • Nothing beats raven hair on chocolate skin in my estimation. The night before Typhoon Ondoy hit Manila, Charmaine invited me to be her percussionist at her Sky Dome concert the following night which was cancelled because of the storm. Hope I get a chance to play with her some day.

  • Jazzy-jazz jazz pinoy stayl! Charmaine, mabuhay ka!

  • Love love love this!

  • lovin it

  • I think this video implies cultural confusion of a Filipino is if his European, America or Aeta since Philippines was colonized by the Spanish, American, Japanese and British. In this video Charmaine Clamor is removing her make up and wig in the last part showing that she's not confused anymore and she's proud to show her real identity as a Filipino.

  • hmmm.are u black or fipino..i dont see fipio talkin shit bout fipino hmm. shut the fuck up ..u so ugli why you hatin of all natural beauty of filipinos..if u r idiot u dont kno nothin boout filipino so shut the fuckk up ugli shit fuk...to tell u ..many inhabitans long time ago include r aeta that r blacjk u were came from them..and most r malays,..

  • Brown is Nice ! The darker the Berry ,

stop trying to lighten your color fool !

  • Maybe she is also a sweaty pinay with all of that rubbing!

  • @Piddyx shit fuk dont u see she is trying to insult filipino atleast filipinos are pure natural no but implants..like black..you cant deny that filipino r beauty or ugli they r filipino, whit brown they r filipino not african like her..pretender asshole..papaya soap was manufactured by chino businessman to give way of their traditional cream by adapting to hve a natural resources in pilipines..like using papaya to soap, coz filipinos dont have cream like in chino

  • @thewindows1122

Filipino girls are gorgeous, and Charmaine certainly isn't the best specimen. However, I think the song is about not being ashamed if you have more of a flat nosed look about you.

  • sarap galing nya....luv it.....mabuhay tayo

  • sarap galing nya....luv it

  • amazing....voice is amazing..she does look great in that afro though!..lol.. I cant wait for my fro to get on deck and become that big!(i know that was pretty much irrelevant..but i am obsessed with afros! 1.5 yrs strong)

  • Of course when I first heard this I thought she was a Sista....Now that I see her, she IS a sister----from another mother, lol!!

I like her new CD, it's tight!

  • @hotdrumchick So true.

I have brown skin and a flat nose too...Im Jamaican with Black and Scottish Ancestry...but I have been asked if I am Pinay! Just shows we are all sistas under the skin...

I think Pinays are some of the nicest, talented and most beautiful people in the world and are wonderful friends

  • @ignaciomoran

This brilliant composition is neither a Filipino folk song nor a Filipino lyrical "copy." It is a refreshingly clever reworking of an overdone old song into a provocative and enlightening message of empowerment. An original, brave, and visionary artist such as Charmaine Clamor demands that Filipino music be taken seriously. Instead of merely being a cute byproduct of colonialism, she is making a tired old tune uniquely her own. It's not a "diss"; it's elegantly subversive.

  • very well said!, huh that will gonna leave a mark

  • Beautiful, touching and powerful. Every Pinay needs to listen to this. She looked gorgeous in the afro.

  • This is one of my favorite songs of yours Charmaine. Miss you, love you! Lisa

  • Ms. Charmaine Clamor is a true Renaissance Filipina!! Her music transcends modern day and her representation in our documentary Mosquito Filipino as an artist singing the classic "Dahil Sa Iyo" credits her a true legend in the making!!!! Join our Mosquito Filipino Facebook Fan Club!!

  • wow great songs...so mga pinay huwag mag bleaching..stay and proud pinay thats a true beauty..and beautiful.

  • galing talaga!

  • ahhahha dats fucking true... whitening cream is pathetic.. lots of people likes filipino skin cos its tan... look at those white ass people tanning themselves.

  • I think she looks better with tan

  • The new wave in jazz is jazzipino and Charmaine Clamor is leading the way. This song will make history, I predict. BTW, love the afro! :)

  • Stunning. Powerful lyrics and an amazing singer. Mabuhay!

  • Dis is important video peeples! You probably buy whitening cream an Met pills.

  • Maybe you should start listening to da words of da song wit your ears and you would realize how pathetic it is to be using whitening creams. Dats wut da song is teaching. Don't hate your browness! Don't be a victim. And don't hate da song for telling da truth! Mabuhay Pinay!!! :)

  • whoa! whoa! whoa! wait a sec... i'm not against the song or whatever.. i'm just saying i feel its boring,. what's wrong with that? And.. I'm white in natural .. does it mean i'm not a filipina? pathetic...

  • Being white isn't pathetic. Using whitening creams and pills is!

  • look you're missing my point...

    i said i don't like the music..

    i don't like the genre...

    what's wrong with you people?

  • I love it too!!!!

  • LUV!!!!!!!!!! it!.........!!!!!!!!

  • I never knew that a passionate political statement could be delivered with so much class and beauty and that it could sound so damn funky! Yowza!

  • Composing new Tagalog lyrics seems pretty original to me! Never heard a version of "My Funny Valentine" like this before.

Also, "jazzing it up" is not the exclusive domain of African-Americans. Jazz welcomes ALL practitioners, regardless of race. Including proud Pinays!

  • "Also, "jazzing it up" is not the exclusive domain of African-Americans"

The world has embraced jazz just as it has most of the music created by Black Americans - jazz, blues, soul/r^&b, gospel, hip hop, ragtime etc., It is an African American created art form. People from all ethnic groups play it and celebrate it. But for some reason people can except music being labeled Cuban, Mexican, Nigerian, etc., But seem to take issue with music being labeled African American or Black by its creators.

  • there are Black pinoys though.....The the first winner of Pinoy Idol.

  • An amazing artist doing a very imaginative version of an "old" song. Charmaine Clamor is really something else. Never heard anyone like her.

  • she looks better with the afro! =D

  • i already saw this video during our JS prom in PISCO April 2009! :)) our guest speaker showed it to us!

  • i luv my pinay ladies... pinoy pride.lol

  • I don't remember how I came to discover her,but she's wonderful . . . . . . .love the song.

    Thank you .

  • impressive! thats right be proud of your skin!

  • ahlaveet!

  • A)Charmaine is not capable of ugliness, no matter what kind of wig she wears.

B)She is certainly a "hot pinay girl," but that is not the point of this video. It's about accepting your native looks with pride.

C)Listen to the lyrics and the different wigs and makeup will probably make sense.

  • id hit it lol

a Victorian philapino who has talent!!

all i want in a woman haha

  • As a high school teacher struggling to educate and sensitize my students to the psychological, global and historical consequences of white supremacy, this beautiful woman captures the essence of the struggle with much love and virtuosity. All my students will receive this gift from Charmaine Clamor.

    Peggy Doll

  • Looking as good as she sounds. Charmaine is the reason Filipinos are proud to be in jazz world. She is inspiration. So cool to hear Tagalog in this setting. My Funny Brown Pinay is a masterpiece by a great Pinay artist.

  • CHARMAINE, THIS IS EXCELLENT!

  • You sound terrific in any and all colors.

The portions in Tagalog are moving even though I can't understand any of it, literally. Great concept, great performance.

  • Charmaine is an important artist performing an important song. Every Filipino and every person of color (and women in general) should dig this. Love the afro. Sing it, girl!

  • Awesome!
