For anyone currently in the midst of a gambling addiction please do not listen to this man. GA is a godsend and for this one man's opinion i have met dozens who will tell you the total opposite. It has been the only thing that worked for me. How can anyone who claims to be a motivational speaker make this claim? If you are a problem gambler and need help go to a meeting today! do not waste any time more time listening to this man.
Thanks for sharing your experience of the truth about GA. I had the same experience! I haven't seem any evidence of any positive changes taking place as a result of sitting in these 'depression-sessions' Unfortunately, the steps are a token part of the fellowship, which no-one seems to have an experience with! It's a shame that no solution (spiritual or otherwise) is on offer here. (Just go to meetings, and don't have the first bet is the core message. That's bondage in my book.
I gambled for about 8 years and devastated my life. 4 years ago, I joined G.A. and have not made a bet since.
I've found the program to be very helpful, and the meetings are just one component.
G.A. offers many tools to help recovering addicts including a network of people to call 24/7, the support of a sponsor, and proven methods to help one to stop gambling.
You do a disservice to your own credibility and your sales pitch when you mention G.A. in the same sentence as colored animals.
