The fuck? 90% of Muslims think Americans are friendly? Way off on that statement woman, most Americans hate Muslims and most Muslims hate Americans. This is because both cultures are VERY different. I couldn't care less if the Qu'ran promotes peace, I've never read it, so I am completely ignorant of its contents, but It is the action that ultimately decide my views on a religion, and the overwhealming majority of the people of the middle east certainly aren't peaceful towards non-muslims.
@QBisbest the key words in your comment are, "I am completely ignorant." The statistics cited in this talk are based on the report published in the book, "Who Speaks for Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think," the product of a mammoth 6-year study by the Gallup Organization conducting tens of thousands of hour-long, face-to-face interviews with residents of more than 35 predominantly Muslim nations.
If those who convert to Islam would sincerely know what the Word of God says, they would think twice before embracing a religion that is contrary to what is really true.
I know people are looking for something different but they need to know the truth to really be satisfied.
@jeannekyle Secularism anyone? We hate every time we hear Christians, and Muslims, and Hebrews alike say god caused this sign, or you deserve the worst, because you won't listen to me and what my god says, or women are inferior, or that gays are abominations and sexual perverts. You're all hateful and would do best to get it through your skulls as get along with the fastest growing group in not only the U.S., but the world, the secular humanists. The secular nations today are the most peaceful.
@NuPheonix Since I'm also a secular humanist, I can say that you don't speak for me. I'm able to respect that others have different beliefs than I have. Of course, I think mine are correct, or I wouldn't hold them ;-) If you separate your emotional attachment to your beliefs and listen to the talk as a rational open-minded human, you'll hear the interconnectedness underlying the issues addressed.
@jeannekyle I wish these posts weren't so limited to size. I get so harsh in these. I can understand the beliefs of others, but what really irks me is the idea of a god given right to dictate how others live, and to limit the human experience through the supposed name of god. I really don't understand it, but rather see a superiority complex in a lot of people that practice this. To me, it's a world wide issue just waiting to slowly solve its self. For now I'm frustrated that is hasn't yet.
@jeannekyle What about secular humanism? We don't make up and invisible man in the sky, and, to add to that, why is your god limited to being male? Maybe because he's MAN made.
We don't have circumcision, because we know that human male babies don't need to be skewered at birth. We support gays because, well, why not? Circumcision sounds like more of a perversion, cutting a infants genitals?
Also, misogyny makes no sense to us, since we love the beauty and wonder of women. Any thoughts?
Alhamdulillah! I wish this stuff would be shown on networks like CBS and CNN instead of all the focus only on terrorism. Just as a sitcom like Friends caused Muslims to think Americans are friendly, the media can show the way that Muslims are contributing to the world and acting compassionately. Instead I fear the media feeds into the terror non-Muslims feel because they are bombarded with an image of Islam that makes it look so violent. Why is it only Youtube we find all the good Muslims?
How come you cannot provide any testable evidence for God or angels yet you expect us to believe that an angel dictated the Quaran to Mohammed? Give me a break.
Did you listen to the trailer? Have you looked at the book? No one is asking anyone to believe in the Quaran or even in God - the whole point is talking about cultural differences and cultural connections that can help dissolve barriers and bring about understanding between cultures.
The first 15 pages of the Quaran says that if you don't believe you will burn in hell. There are passages that state that the infidels are to have their heads removed or be subjugated to the will of Allah.I would hardly call this a book of siolving barriers & promoting understanding between cultures. What benefit does one gain by believing that cannot be done on ones own?
...and if you need to trash the Quaran, don't forget to balance your criticism with the contents of the Bible, one of the most genocidal books in existence - the "Old Testament" wiping out whole peoples and the "New Testament" guilting people into submission with the fear of hell, too. This isn't a battle of religious myths - it's about addressing reality and finding common ground in today's culture.
@Celticking36 I felt this about Bible when I was Christian. God looked so scary; Quran speaks of God's Compasssion (Rahman), Mercy (Rahim), Patience(Sabur), Kindness (Rauf). Quran forbids fighting except in self-defense & is based on historical events. It is specific not general. Muslims are forbidden to start wars (though extremists interpret Quran like you do). Quran can't be read & quoted without study/reflection just Torah and Gospels can't. Ignorance leads to misinterpretations.
Youtube doesn't censor commenting that I'm aware of, but each youtube page owner has the option of approving comments before they are posted. We don't allow obscenity or hate speech, so we choose whether to approve comments before they go live, and we don't always check this every day. Hope that answers your concern.

Hello - "the book" I'm talking about is "Who Speaks for Islam", not the Quaran. This is not a film about the Quaran. You're a bit obsessed...

why would a comment type that is critical of "24" not get posted but this one gets through?? Youtube is censoring, BIG TIME.

you did not censor my comment. My comment about our corrupt Govt never made it to the page.
I wrote, posted, refreshed...
Viola! No comment.
Tried it several times, with various spellings and nada.
Maybe this will post, who knows.. Here I spin the bottle and see...

Wow! A Producer of the propaganda piece, "24" speaks some truth to ignorance for a change..
I am impressed.
There's hope in Hollywood.
Now Howard, cease glorifying and mischaracterizing the effects of torture on your show, would ya?
The troops are watching and learning from your show and that's getting a lot of people killed needlessly.
Good start promoting this book, though.
