  • I love this song. When I first heard it I didn't like it... at all... but for some reason I really like it now. And I heard it AFTER reading at least the first book.

  • I used Sebastian Bach's likeness and drew a pretty cool Elric from it back in 1990 when he had that slender look..I just made his hair white and gave him those albino red eyes and presto! -he was beautiful & worked well as a drawing but he's a rock star -not an actor. The Elven prince from Hellboy is the man now!

  • Blood and souls for my Lord Arioch!

  • ~Elric may be too cool to ever be a motion picture

  • @Lennon4ever1 They are supposed to be making one, a trilogy actually.

  • @karlmoles65 Really?? I'll be seeing that movie for sure! -I'm in

  • @Lennon4ever1 You and me both. They should get the guy that played the Elven prince in Hellboy 2 to play Elric.

  • @karlmoles65 I hope so! And if they ruin it, I'll be pissed. I've been hoping for a movie about Elric since 1982 and I'm talking done as well as Lord Of the Rings! -We'll see

  • @Lennon4ever1 Sounds like you discovered Moorcock about the same time I did. '83 for me, I was a HS Junior. First I got all the Elric novels, then Corum and Hawkmoon, and went from there. I will be pissed too. But since I'm also a huge Robert E Howard fan, and saw how utterly Hollywood just ruined Conan, I wouldn't be shocked. Sadly.

  • @karlmoles65 Yeah, they fucked Conan up!

  • @Lennon4ever1 People back in the day complained about the 80s version a bit too, but shit, it's like Star Wars compared to that abortion they just put out.

  • @karlmoles65 Yeah, I saw the 1984 Dune and it was at least better than the min-series! Abortion is right..LOL!! And yet another remake of the Stand?? -God help us

  • @Lennon4ever1 As far as I know The Stand has only been made once, as a TV miniseries, have I missed one? I think Dune could have benefited from a different director. Also, have you seen Disney has gotten ahold of the John Carter Warlord Of Mars franchise? God help us indeed.

  • @karlmoles65 Yeah 1982 for me and we're almost the same age, I also discovered Raymond Fiest in 1983 -He's awesome too! I'll tell you karlmoles65..You and I could be better directors than half these idiots in Hollywood today, but you have to put up all the money..I'm poor! -LOL! -But seriously, it sucks big time

  • @Lennon4ever1 Oh yeah, I know we could. That's a job I'd love actually, haha!

  • @Lennon4ever1 And I don't understand, in this day and age of shitty sequels and remakes, how so many utterly great fantasy novel series are just sitting negelected. There's Terry Brooks wonderful Shannara mythos. Brain Lumley's vampires vs psychics Necroscope series. Moorcock's works. Karl Edward Wagner's Kane novels. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden mythos. But all Hollywood wants to make is crap. It's sad really.

  • @karlmoles65 Well, that Prince in Hellboy was damn good prelude for an Elric character! I mean, he practically is Elric already almost like he's auditioning for the part! So if they use that guy -maybe there is hope for a decent movie. But like you said..Hollywood can fuck up a wet dream! Just look how they ruined 'Dune' and 'The Stand' by Stephen King!! -Pathetic

  • @Lennon4ever1 The Stand eh? Guess what....it's getting remade too. For the big screen this time. I hope they do a better job of casting than that wretched miniseries did.

  • @karlmoles65 Stephen king is an awesome author, but he should stay OUT of movie-making because he fucks it up! -Leave it to the pros Stephen and go write, because Spielberg you ain't!!

  • @Lennon4ever1 Gotta agree there. And gotta say, while many King movies are very good I've yet to see one nearly as good as the book it came from.

  • Best song in the history of rock music.

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • One of the greatest songs of all time!!! By one of the most talented (yet vastly underrated bands) of all time!!

  • great song/video & thx.

  • Ten people disliked this? YOU POOR FUCKING HUMANS!

  • Pure class!!

  • Stormbringer just ate 10 souls! Mournblade will try and get the rest...

  • how can you not like this?"

  • 271,000 views! word has got around at last that an ignored master piece needs to be ressurected and turned into a heavier, meatier metal monster.

  • Black Blade = penus

  • Theme song for Sociopathic Behavior (Or the "Dark Passenger" meme described in the Dexter Series)

  • Sounds like Charon's Claw+Crenshinibon

  • The book covers with the Michael Whelan artwork were always my favorite images of Elric. What an awesome book series everyone should read them if they havent already!

  • The sound of the revolution!

  • This band has no "genre." I don't actually know, how to listen to it. But I do listen. Weird how they did that so unformely. And you can also forget my poor text, cause it don't really fit to place, where is not anything to fit.

  • @LukasFin

The fuck? What song are YOU listening. No genre? It's rock! What other genre do you need for it to be?

  • BOC have got to be the best band ever

  • violence and chaos strengthens the beast

  • bloom's afro is the best in the fucking world!!! is anyone with me

  • Blue Oyster Cult was my fav orite alltime band even when james and lars were still picking their noses ,,,and still is !!!

  • 10 people got their souls eaten by Stormbringer.

  • a lot of people dont know that Michael Moorcock co-wrote this song , he is the author of Elric Of Melnibone, from which this song was got its theme from ,The twin immortal swords Stormbringer and Mournblade.

  • "Farewell, friend. I was a thousand times more evil than thou!"

  • official theme song for the Sword of Aeons from fable 1 :P

  • My favorite song from Blue Oyster Cult! Very gothic!

  • The only thing that will make Elric even more powerful is more COWBELL!

  • cool juga nih lagu....

  • Awww shit... What am I missing? Who's Lord Arioch? These better be books I'm hearin' about, cuz I need a good readin'! Kick ass song. Makes driving *Insert favorite number greater than Chuck Norris here* times as fun.

  • @Korban3 Yeah, a bunch of books written by Michael Moorcock. These are based on his Elric novels, which are pretty good if you like sword and sorcery.

  • @mejsmith1 Awesome. Swords and magic: KICKASS! I'm gonna try and find 'em now, cuz I just keep re-reading The Hobbit, Robinson Crusoe, Don Quixote, and a collection of Aesop's fables, which are great, but sometimes I crave something, well, not of the previosly stated four. Thanks for the info.

  • 10 people do not wield Black Blade

  • @AdamantFinn

10 People will contribute to Lord Arioch's next meal of souls....;-)

  • this is a great album

  • Legends From the End of Time is a great collection of short stories from MM. Great song too!

  • Best song off an excellent album!

  • Read the series as a teen. I have a love-hate relationship with it, but the books were short, and some crazy epic shit happened every other few pages... fond memories.

  • The!

  • Elric of Melinebone made us what we are today, i just read the whole series and now im making music about his adventures...Check out my band"Servants Of Arioch" we will be posting videos within a cuple months if your a hardcore fan of micheal moorcock... STORMBRINGER and MOURNBLADE. (wish i owned those blades)

  • Moorcock must be an embarrassing last name.

  • @Shinzu92

Hey, we need Moorcock! Anyone seen Moorcock? Get Moorcock over here right now!

  • @plaguebearer he can be found hanging out at multi verse.Org.

  • @plaguebearer Maybe he's in the back room; check there.

  • @Shinzu92 at lest his first name wasn't Phil. bad pun=bad sorry.

  • @Joshtheunclean Ummmm... good thing Moorcock isn't a she, and her name was Aneida, can you say, name change!

  • tell you what though alot of respect - the best one is by torisan999 set to run faster to madness, see my comment there bro!

  • good effort and dedication in the song just i think you could change some of your pictures some of those are not him

  • dude the pics suck

  • Stormbringer: my master is my slave!

    Elric: O RLY?

    Stormbringer: YA RLY!

    Elric: oh shi-

    Stormbringer: LOL

  • this song kicks ass hahaha

  • I love the music and art work. Back when fantasy had balls and heart.

  • this song has one of my favorite guitar riffs starting at 256

  • hmmm why does the name Stormbringer come to mind???? lol

  • 9 people are Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga fans or fans of other similarly pointless "Musicians," music has been overtaken by electronic machines and talentless people just churning out noise. Rock, especially classic rock is the only music that will ever be pure and true, written with passion, from the heart, with meaningful lyrics, don't let the good music die! May BOC, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC and many many more proper bands live forever!

  • Just pretend the killing tool sword Eric sings of ,is ones girlfriend in one guys hopeless life trying to shake it / her off......

  • ironic or not, it's a fuckin good rock tune

  • BLUE OYSTER CULT IS THE GREATEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah. 9 people suck!

  • @zombie2wo nice caps...embarrasing music (I think we're up to 10 that suck)

  • I listen top metallica and i like dildos up my ass. this is the greatest shit ever

  • I believe Eric bloom was very well assisted in lyrics and song writing , when you take a look at the history of boc and the several musicians that jammed with them!!!

  • Anybody who suggests this song is 'self-parody' is a moron and ignorant of BOC's history. The lyrics are by Michael fucking Moorcock, Elric's creator, for godsake. Parody my ass.

  • @ClayG hahahaha love your comment, they played this song at Infinity hall, LOVED it!

  • POOR FUCKING HUMANS

  • Lol...I'm playing a game involving swords and slaughter while listening to this. Perfect combo. Plus, I love swordfighting. So I'm pretty damn happy. Haha.

  • Very Funny! I don't know if anyone else heard it like that.

  • Best album cover of all time. So fucked-up.

  • You poor fucking humans! anyone catch that at the end?

  • @JustBeingAnthony The black swords fighting and singing!!

  • No doubt! One of my favorite BOC lps. I like some of those cool Rodney Matthews paintings. Te other artwork is cool too, but I don't know the artists. She's As Beatiful As A Foot and everything from the 1st LP is a classic for sure, but this album is awesome as well. Down at Conroy's bar. my man!

  • I like this ironically but, come on, it is their joke self-parody period.

Ever heard "On your feet or on your knees"?

"Shes as beautiful as a foot"

  • @Wankshaftsbury >I like this ironically

    Hipster detected.

  • Comment removed

  • @Wankshaftsbury I'm not saying this music is bad at all. I was simply commenting on the fact that you apparently like this "ironically", which is a thing a hipster would say. Also, that whole "you know what it is SO YOU ARE ONE" is a logical fallacy. SO FUCK YOUR SHIT

  • @EmperorRaymo

    Understood.

    "logical fallacy"? get over yourself.

And may your shit also be fucked!

  • The Black Blade wont let me rest. I've already decapitated 370 people, but it never rests.

  • my favorite BOC ...I was lot more into punk in the 80s but BOC was an exception

  • the pic at 5:49 is Gerald Tarrant.

  • GREATEST ALBUM COVER OF ALL TIME.

  • Who thinks "You Poor Fucking Humans" should be an internet meme?

  • @quidnick It was before they gave it to ''the humans''.See: ''Between Two Ages''.

  • @quidnick What's an internet meme?

  • I would dearly love to hear GWAR cover this song. It seems right up their stylistic alley.

  • @ShyDaniel2112 You're into GWAR & BOC? You're in the club! Welcome!

  • Elric of Melnibone forever!!!

  • 9 people got sodomized by the black blade

  • BOC Rules, thanks.

  • awesome super cool!!! They had amps that went to eleven for sure!!!

  • YOU POOR FUCKING HUMANS

  • @KingKrebin dude, you're only 20. How come you got into BOC?

  • @BarriosGroupie I listen to a variety of music, some of which is rock from the 70's and 80's.

  • The dark horses of metal inspiration.

  • I loved where they "hid" the BOC emblem on the cover of the album---it was very difficult to find

  • man do I feel stupid I thought it was only Hawkwind that covered material by Moorecock

  • haha I love Moorcock, his books are awesome. They start out with a really good story and then get completely out of wack (in the good way), just like this song!

  • i own this album and i still listen to it

  • @mgbriceno I loved the artwork on the original album cover. I'd stare at it for hours and read about the "Hornswopped Bongo Ponies" on the back cover. Great stuff!

  • @mgbriceno Congratufuckinglations

  • @mgbriceno that seems like a stupid comment, I listen to all me albums still...

  • @mgbriceno Isn´t it logical ? :D

  • One of the GREATEST album covers.

  • I know how it ends. . .Stormbringer wins.

  • @SgtCrom i have read all the books too

  • im diggin the Cirith Ungol pics at 4:56 and 5:05

  • Hey like this song. Been listening to it for many years now.

They are coming to The Big Fresno Fair in Fresno, California on October 12th

I really hope they play this song.

  • You can't not like this, you just CAN'T! Moorcock + BOC = Epic. This song just fits the tone that the books have perfectly.

  • Oh it sure brings back memories to my days in the middle of the Atlantic ovean sailing between Keflavik, Iceland and Norfolk, Va back in these days we were sailing in heavy and ruff seas south east of Greenland in the middle of the winter :) yeah that song has the same character as the wind and the sea energy.

  • if you're gay you're going the wrong way

    fuckerzzzzzz

  • I hope you knew the pic of the Drow mage has absolutely nothing to do with Moorcock or Elric. It is a good pic, though. Of course, BOC is the best.

  • Comment removed

  • listen to this album while trippin acid ( in the 80's ! :))

  • 2:55 reminds me a bit of ''the siege and the investiture''.

  • Thanx for posting!!

I just hooked my turntable up, and started to transfer my vinyl to digital, and My Culto album is Warped (Grrrr) So, I can't get BLACK BLADE or MARSHALL PLAN because of the skipping! :(

  • Oyster Cult working with Michael Moorcock, worra combo made in heaven

  • wow some of the pictures to this vid are WOW!

  • This is BOC's absolute best piece and one of the best examples of early stereo pan whipping blended with delay.

  • If you've ever seen this live, there's no tuning head on his guitar. Must have blown it off at some point!

  • @nutella1ful it's a Steinberger..tuning heads are down by the bridge.

  • @ArmorOfChrist777 Thanks for the info. I thought I was seeing things, or not seeing things, as it were.

  • The White Wolf \m/

  • "Bringing chaos to the world we know" hehe.

    Thanx for uploading this.

  • Maybe I'm just a moron, but doesn't Stormbringer seem to change shape a lot? Sometimes, it's illustrated to look like a claymore, other times a fantasy sword; in some images it's a two-handed weapon, in others, it's one-handed. Is it just the artist, or is the blade itself a shapeshifter?

  • @saikyoryu

Just an artist. It is more closely related to the hand-and-a-half sword.

  • @saikyoryu Well it is a living sword forged from absolute chaos. One imagines that it could shape-shift if it wanted to. Or at least that's the explanation for why artists keep drawing it differently.

  • @TheTygre . true and I don't think Moorcock ever gives a full and detail description of Stormbringer in any of the books.

  • @saikyoryu Stormbringer is supposed to be a two-handed six feet long black sword. So it's the artist.

  • For the longest time, I kept thinking it said "one-eyed schoolgirl" instead of "red-eyed screaming ghoul". While the latter actually makes sense, it makes me lol to imagine Elric in a short skirt and eyepatch, carrying textbooks.

  • This song is bloody awesome.

  • This song is awsome!

  • Well done mate, it's about time someone made a vid of elric to this song, I've been meanin too in my long list of projects. Hawkwind wrote a few more songs about Elric & that mid 80's album was also co-writen by Micheal Moorcock.

Rodney Matthews has painted loads of images from the books & some of those included are his.

Joe Satriani wrote a tune about The Hill of the Skull on Surfing with the Alien.

  • Like it !! Hawkiwnd in the UK did an Elric album in 1985 (Chronicle of the Black Sword)

  • This is real music.

  • Comment removed

  • Great drumming song. Buck Dharma should be raisin' alarma!

  • The artwork is astonishing.

  • This is a very Metal song \m/

  • The stealer of souls, the stealer of souls . . . .

  • great job !!! great tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • D&D doyou wont beatup after school again my

  • I wonder if anybody thought about playing D&D to this song?????

  • @REIworker Hell yeah we played D&D listenig to this and other BOC back in '81. And when I graduated from D&D to booze, I took kept the BOC. Cheers...

  • @HotTimeHarv lmao! Too true

  • My master is my slave. that's ver disconcerning

  • Cirith Ungol "Frost & Fire"- 2:20 !!

  • @HenryWinehard

Yes, they borrowed it (and their name) from the books on which this song is based. That image is called "Stormbringer" from the book by the same name. Painted by Michael Whelan.

  • lol micheal more cock....

  • @TheScatman231 dumb

  • @TheScatman231

Hey Beavis didnt your retarded show get canceled?

  • Awesome

  • GORGEOUS artwork! This is a visual as well as an auditory treat!

  • Some cool images... a few pretty schmaltzy. A good collection all in all.

A few seemed definitely influenced by 'old school' Symbolists like Toorop, Moreau, Munch, Redon.. if anyone wants to check out some 19th C 'goth' painters.

  • they are a part of the history, how all knows ,,,,,but if that not was ,,no problem ,,,they play good

  • You poor fucking humans.

    (last line)

  • You poor fucking humans.

    (last line)

  • You poor fucking humans.

    (last line)

  • Somebody should write a story, an alternate universe sort of thing, where Elric and Stormbringer find themselves in Tolkien's Middle Earth. Elric and Stormbringer vs Sauron and The One Ring.

Elric and Gandalf and Sauron, Stormbringer *and* Glamdring the Foe Hammer - all in the same pages,..

    Fun stuff!

  • @SororThothma why don't you? ;)

  • @SororThothma i could actualy try. if Sauron doesn't have the ring of course. with it Sauron would be invincible. but somewhere before it is found, someday when Sauron only has the dark castle Dolguldur . somewhere in the time of Hobbit. yes it would have a chance. but setting loose the Kin Slayer in Tolkiens world... Gandalf is no match. maybe the Nine riders are.

  • @SororThothma That is almost impossible since Elric's creator (Michael Moorcock) isn't very fond to Tolkien's work, actually Elric's stories try to be some kind of "Antithesis" to books like LOTR.
